Hey, anyone interested in arranging a meetup for this group? We could easily take over a coffee shop or small bar! I *might* be able to acquire some bookish swag to give away...

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I think that would be fun :)

Pat (patrapp) | 28 comments That would be fun! I am able to attend a meetup but if you're looking for someone to arrange it, I am unable to work on arranging one until March.

㋛ ㋡ (depravitytest) I would definitely be in!

Do we have anyone among us who is not 21? That would make a difference between a bar and a coffee shop.

Good point. I'm always for a nice little tipple. :D

Stephanie (stephthebookworm) | 17 comments Sounds fun!

I'm eighteen, either or seems fine with me....I don't drink anyhow, avoid that stuff like the plague.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Better shoot for a coffee shop or a pub during the day. Best if everyone can join.

message 13: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 13 comments I'm in and I like the idea of Starry Nights at Central Library.

Margaret | 13 comments Erghhh... Starry Nites, that is...

message 15: by Pat (new)

Pat (patrapp) | 28 comments Ok, but next month let's meet at a pub. ;-)

Hi everyone...
If we do a meetup, I'm thinking it should be at night or on a weekend. I'm not sure if Starry Nites at Central will be open on Saturdays in the future. They haven't made much $$$ the last 2 Saturdays. We could do Boulder on Alexander. They have plenty of space. Any other suggestions?

message 17: by ㋛ ㋡ (new)

㋛ ㋡ (depravitytest) I second Boulder on Alexander.

message 18: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea What about Nox in Village Gate? They have a literary theme and plenty of space for a large party. They also serve tasty food! You don't have to be 21, but there are several mixed drinks on the menu.

message 19: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciau) | 168 comments Mod
Nox would be good, too. Do you know their hours?

message 20: by Pat (new)

Pat (patrapp) | 28 comments Evenings and weekends they're open:

message 21: by Diane (new)

Diane Premo | 23 comments I work every Saturday so that would be difficult for me. But do what the majority wants.

message 22: by Maria (new)

Maria | 5 comments I like boulder on Alexander. They have a nice variety of drinks and food, as well as plenty of places to sit.

Hey! It's March!
My bandwidth just opened up and now I have a little extra time to spend on helping set up a meetup.
Please indicate what works best with your work schedule and we can see if we can make this happen. Thanks!

Would love to get together with other people reading for the challenge and get some more suggestions.

So I was wondering if a fun meetup would be spending an afternoon wandering the closed stacks in the Rundel Building. There's lots of fiction down there, but also history & other topics. We could spend some time in the stacks then maybe meet for coffee at Starry Nites. It would have to be a Saturday, though. Thoughts?

Libby In Libraryland (libbyinlibraryland) | 4 comments I adore the idea of wandering the closed stacks. Saturday's are perfect.

Libby In Libraryland (libbyinlibraryland) | 4 comments Please excuse autocorrect.

Sounds good to me :)

message 33: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 13 comments I'm in! Work every other Saturday but can make it after 2:30pm either way.

Let's try for Saturday April 30 at 1:00 pm. Margaret, is that one of your "off' weekends?

We'll gather on the first floor of Rundel and go down to the stacks. We'll hang out down there for a couple hours then go have some coffee, although I need to check to make sure Starry Nites will be open in the afternoon.

message 35: by Margaret (new)

Margaret | 13 comments Alas, I'm working April 30th. Off May 7th. Or, I can meet up with everyone after work if there'll still be something happening...

Libby In Libraryland (libbyinlibraryland) | 4 comments I have a prior commitment at 2 on that day. The national level board is visiting and offering a meet and greet question and answer session. I cannot join on April 30th.

message 37: by Diane (new)

Diane Premo | 23 comments Working then but have fun!

Yes it is. Scratch May 14. We may have to postpone this kind of meetup until the Fall....

message 42: by Pat (new)

Pat (patrapp) | 28 comments I completely forgot about the doodle poll I set up. For the record, the majority of the group said they are available on Saturday evenings (7ish). Only one person said they couldn't make that time slot.

So if we can't do a daytime trip to the Rundel stacks until the fall, we could do a Saturday evening at Boulder coffee. Should I send out a poll to decide which Saturday evening gets the most votes?

message 43: by Patricia (new)

Patricia (patriciau) | 168 comments Mod
Yes, please!

Claire Talbot | 17 comments I'd love to do a Saturday evening at Boulder -

Re-boot on the Rundel Stacks idea - I am going to be at Rundel this Saturday, April 30, from around 1-4:30. I won't be in the stacks the entire time, but if anyone wants to join me, we can meet up around 12:30 and I can show you around then let you explore.

Patty

Pat (patrapp) | 28 comments Doodle Poll for Meetup #1:
Saturday evenings at 7ish was a nearly unanimous choice -- only one person did not select Saturday 7ish as an option.
I've created a new poll to narrow down an actual date. This poll includes Saturdays in May and June. Please select the dates you're available, and we'll get together at Boulder Coffee on Alexander. Don't worry if you can't make it this time. We'll do it again using "second place" parameters next time. :)

Okay, I am assuming from the lack of replies that no one is planning to come to Rundel today. Hope you are all outside enjoying what looks to be a gorgeous day!!!

message 49: by Claire (new)

Claire Talbot | 17 comments Patty, I am subbing at Brighton today till 1 pm!

Libby In Libraryland (libbyinlibraryland) | 4 comments If you want to walk around right now, I'm here until 1:30.
