Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3279 comments I'm reading this book for my "book with a beautiful cover" prompt. It's a book I chose after quite a bit of browsing through the recommendations sections because I never really pay much attention to covers. This was one of the only ones that really caught my attention, and I debated for a while whether it would be my book with a beautiful cover, or my book with a beautiful title since really I think it's both.

Here is the summary (these are not spoilers, as this is all revealed in the summary on the back/sleeve): It is about a doctor, Matt Beaulieu, whose wife is left brain-dead after an accident. He knows that his wife did not want to be kept alive on life support, however he soon learns that she is pregnant and there is a chance that the baby will survive if his wife can be kept alive. Matt becomes entangled in a legal battle over the right to make the decision both for his wife and for his unborn child. On the other side is Matt's mother, who his wife had named as having the power to make decisions on her behalf.

I am only about a third of the way through right now, but it's a great book so far. It really throws you into the deep end right away without much chance to know the characters, but as you keep reading, you get to know Matt and his wife through his memories of her. I'm loving it so far.
