Do you think that Helen Burns is presented as symbolism for something within Jane??

Samantha | 16 comments Helena is more calm, resigned. One of her sentence strikes me:
“It is far better to endure patiently a smart which nobody feels but yourself, than to commit a hasty action whose evil consequences will extend to all connected with you.” It reminds me of a sentence I have read in another book: "That is public school for you." At first I didn't understood the meaning of the sentence but then natives explained to me that in british public schools they teach you to keep everything cheerful and I think that this sentence is another example of the "stiff upper lip" philosophy

After thinking about Helen and what she was for Jane, I think she represented Jane's maturity. Through Helen, Jane realized that facing adversity was part of life and that SOMETIMES we must be mature for the better good.
