Scott Howard (scottgh) | 2 comments Why did you choose to read Dante's Divine Comedy? It was assigned for a class? You want to read the great books of European or world literature? You want to gain from its wisdom?

Scott Howard (scottgh) | 2 comments I have always been intrigued by The Divine Comedy but thought it would be a tough read, unenjoyable and fairly irrelevant. I heard an interview by Rob Dreher about his book, How Dante Can Save Your Life: The Life-Changing Wisdom of History's Greatest Poem in which he told of how he stumbled upon The Divine Comedy at a desperate point in his life. It was an x-ray to his should and offered a path to recovery and healing. This intrigued me because some of his issues I have experienced and what he discovers I identified with.

I am only in the Inferno, but I have found it convicting and hopeful. I look forward to the journey.
