4bravecats | 10 comments It's been weeks since I finished "Life After Life" by Kate Atkinson, and I'm still thinking about it. I loved the fact that Ursula had little observations, little hints, that she may have been through something like this before, and how that idea made her want to follow a path to do something very important. And the characters were all SO wonderful. No filler here!
I'm just starting "A God in Ruins" which is her latest, and have read many of her other books. Any ideas of something with that little bit of reincarnation, of having been here before? Not interested in fantasy or Science Fiction. Have tried "Time Traveller's Wife" in the past, and it was a bit too cute for me.
I will track down and try all your suggestions. Thanks to everyone!

4bravecats | 10 comments Thank you very much Susan. What a list! I've saved them all to a list and think I will start with "The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August". Many Thanks to you.

Anyone else? Thanks in advance.

Karen | 6 comments The End of Days by Jenny Erpenbeck has a similar premise but I don't think there's like any remembering of the other lives. They are different enough that I really loved then both.

4bravecats | 10 comments Much appreciated, Karen. I've just requested it from my public library >>> there's a waiting list, which does tell me something.
Thank you again.
Nancy

4bravecats | 10 comments Jessica, I've suggested it for my book group's summer book, can't wait for the discussion. I'm still on the library waiting list for "The End of Days" by Jenny Erpenbeck.

Melissa | 3 comments "Life After Life" was one of my favorites! I didn't read the second one because I was afraid it would take away from my experience of the first. ((Please tell me I'm wrong...lol)).
I would suggest "The Bookseller" by Cynthia Swanson
And "The Impossible Lives Of Greta Wells" by Andrew Sean Greer.

4bravecats | 10 comments Hello Melissa, I gave up on "A God in Ruins" (the book that follows the life of Teddy from "Life After Life"). His life was so sad to me, very melancholy, a daughter who didn't respect him, things just not turning out well for him, way too sad a life for him after reading about his early life with his family in the first book. You will be happy you didn't read it.
Thank you for "The Bookseller" and "The Impossible Lives of Greta Wells". It always takes me a while to get them from the library's waiting lists (smaller library budgets these days mean fewer copies purchased....sigh....)
Thanks so much!

4bravecats | 10 comments I know, I agree. Maybe someone who finished reading the book will tell us that it all turned out OK, that happier parts of his life did come out, but I'm not betting on it.....
