Our Independent Project - Documentary
Agnes, add me and we can talk. I'm making a documentary here in Brazil about women who chose not to have babies. I'd love to help you with your project.

Email: agnes.szalkowska@yahoo.com
Everyone who is interested please send me a email because I need to know how many people I got. Later on we can to some chat on FB. And discussed more maybe .

Hi. I pmed you on FB. Cheers :)

I hope Emma don't kill us for that ;)

I'm from UK Better is FB

I hope Emma don't kill us for that ;)"
I've got an idea for the name.
How about "Double Dash"? "=" is the universal sign to symbolise equality.

Hey, Agnes! Well, we are in touch about this project in Facebook already, but I just wanted to pop in here to see people's reaction. I am glad to see that your idea was well received!
I agree on interviews being the best way to really engage people. As for the idea for the title, hmm, that's good. But maybe something even more catchy? Well, not catchy, because Double Dash is already catchy, but...something tha makes you think inmediately about feminism. I'm going to go with 'The Violet Look', although it's probably been taken already for some other project, haha.

Agnes your idea is amazing! I'm sending you an email now! I also prefer the interview idea

Also we have new title proposal
From Lorrayne
- This is Us
- Our Stories
Right now we go with a "The violet look" for the draft.

I'm translating the map of violence against women here in Brazil like I told you before, let me know if you need anything else my friend

I hope it can work. Cheers!

I would love if anybody can join to comment those lines and help her to have different point of views. thanks!
Hi Agnes,
as we spoke I would suggest to structure your proposal and so documentary in different series. Let's take three for the moment.
As in a startup I would start small and scale fast! :)
1) focus first on women and bullying/violence/gender equality and gather that material as you have in mind (clips or interviews)
1A) Include men: make them tell stories where they have been part active or passive of those experience, maybe their sisters, wives or employee collegueas
Publish that and see how it goes, the popularity, the side effects, the challenges
2) then do the same for men: because they also share similar stories of violence and bullying although with different nuances
2A) could be interesting if you want to reverse and include women view here too or leave it alone. It is up to you.
Publish that and see how it goes, the popularity, the side effects, the differences respect the women's project
4) I would then create one last project that merges the two and drives on the similarities that different violence experiences of men and women can have.
Just an idea that came out while we spoke. I hope it can help to brainstorm more about it together with the others on the blog
Good luck!

I'm an actress from Italy and I really would like to contribute! (:
I know other actors and actresses...maybe we can help you!

I agree with Barbara . We should make 3 part movie because that will be less complicated and we can do more .

I had tweeted about this to Emma, I don't know if she has seen it. I hope she does. If some mod sees it and likes, can you please refer it to her?
PS: I am in no way associated with Satyamev Jayate other than being an admirer.

This is actually not working as it only creates tension in people. If you would like that bad or bad habits vanish, you should be for good, and add good to good, disregarding view on bad. This is quite hard to understand for people, but it is the only truth, how we can achieve better world. Not only in equitability of gender but also in every other aspect. I am working with human thinking and the key of psychology for a years now and the modern world that we live today is in the direction of self destruction. Actually there are a few remote towns left, who do not posses TVs, internet and however any of the big globalism resources, and they can be found there where are, happy, satisfied, and with authentic smile and behaviour. In the modern world of spread globalism that we live today there is 97% people who walk around with their masks, which are only thinking, how can improve their own impact on the world. And this pleasing is the main motive for dissatisfaction of people, of which then every other reaction comes from. Also bullying and rage against women.
I am working with the knowledge that explains human motives and is the key of psychology for years now, and the gender equality is only side product of what we are doing. However said with other words, the gender equality is the product of what we are doing and was a few times mentioned, but it is with all the theory so small, that out of hierarchical view, what else should we achieve, it is the result of the actions, that are upfront.
Everyone knows that you cannot say to a human, "don't be afraid", and she or he, will stop being afraid. This just don't work as this understand only our conscious mind. However if we want to eliminate the fear from someone, we have to have a right mechanism, to talk with one of his/hers subconscious mind, which is the master of the fear. And the same goes for man hatting. You cannot say, "stop, don't do that to me", and he would stop this. You have to have a good reason, a good explanation and at the end also a good mechanism. However the actions no matter what they are, are here because of individual, and we also include that we do not change individual. Just learn. Everyone is on their own path of life, and we respect this, and also with the faithfulness of our work we respect everyone. The main problem today is, that every individual thinks, that what he thinks, it is, how it should be. But it is quite hard to understand that some people are actually afraid, and some people have only a picture about a fear and they cannot be feared the third have only a logical interpretation of fear and cannot even feel it, only that people today, see the fear as the same outcome. This is how different we are.
I have tried to contact Ms. Emma Watson numerous times, about those actions, which will drastically empower and speed up efforts of learn people of equitability.

Just a suposition: I asked some people around me if they would be interest by this kind of documentary (about 10-15 persons) and most of them tell me "Yes maybe, but it will be boring if it's too long". I suppose this is in order to make non-feminists think so maybe have you to make something quite short to generate them interest.
Good luck :)

Right know we prepare proposal and make a research etc
The I must write script.

Seems fun to make and also very interesting for people to watch :)
Although it's very hard to find the right resources and people to actually make it happen, it is achievable!
I was in film school (especially editing) and I have some experience editing commercials etc, so if you ever need someone to edit your clips/movie, feel free to contact me, I'm glad to help some fellow members out!!
For now, I can only wish you good luck and I'd love to hear more about this in the future!

Everyone who is involved and not follow me or not send any message please do ,because I need to know how many of as it is . Better will be a email.
Thx

Hey everybody!
So, as for the proposal, well it's rather early but here's a series of considerations. I am posting them here because I guess it is the most appropriate place for all of us to see them. This is my own view, you may or may not agree with them and that's just fine.
1) First of all, we have yet to choose a name for the whole thing. So far we have had three suggestions:
a) Double Dash
b) W (Women Victims of Violence)
c) The Violet Look
We should choose the name that rings better to all of us! And we should choose wisely. While the three names suggested so far have their strenghts, they also have their weaknesses. Weaknesses that we may not like, but there they are anyway. I'll elaborate a bit more. b) and c) are both rather immediate in making you think about feminism, which is great, but also sort of challenging re: viewers who are not so much on board with the movement but still defend gender equality, zero tolerance to violence, etc. Particularly if we were to include men's views like Barbara suggested, well, b) would pose a few problems. I know, I know, women are the main sufferers but we want to engage people, right? So the less we incur in controversy, the better (this does not mean that we do not seek constructive criticism and debate). In that sense, I like Tadej's suggestions. Even more because, in the end, we are not an organisation of any sorts, which means many of us are not experts in this topic (myself being the first example!). In this sense, a) presents some advantage, although maybe it's a bit too broad. As I said, it should be decided collectively.
Also, what I'm going to say now would also be important for people here to keep engaged on the making of the project. Many of us, for example, do take part in this book club because we view it as a safe space to exchange opinions and participate. This project should also be just that, a safe space. Otherwise, many people, and I have to include myself here, would probably not be willing to take part in something that could eventually lead to any sort of unpleasant situations.
2) As for protecting the intellectual rights of the project, which I assume to be a not-for-profit one, I'd say Creative Commons should be enough guarantee.
3) From what I have read, both here and from the emails, the interview format seems to be the most popular option, and I have to add my vote to it, too. Acting...I think maybe not so much, unless we have people with a certain degree of experience. I'm not talking uber professional actors and actresses, of course, haha. But it is definitely tricky to find people who can really act, so I vote for the interviews. Barbara made a suggestion already and I think that it is interesting because it aims at including men's perspectives, others would be welcome too. I have to say that I also agree with Camille -short is the key word here, both in order to keep the target audience engaged and also because it will be easier to manage that way.
4) For those people who are super shy and would rather not have their face on a video, voice-only interviews might be a good idea. :)
5) As a professional translator myself, I am adding a suggestion here. It might not work for the group, but it might be interesting. If there was adequate support, perhaps some of the interviewees could speak in their own mother tongues. This might not be an option with some languages e.g. Malay or Hindi, but it would help people who don't really master English but still want to share their views. If the project sounds good enough, it might be feasible to get support from volunteer translation groups, for example, Babelistas in Facebook. I would strongly advise against just randomly throwing the appeal for help at any professional translation forum though, because this is often done by people who need professional translation services for their own benefit but are not willing to pay a dime for them, and we get really angry really fast with these requests, haha. ^^
That's it for now. :) Let's see how this evolves. Regards,
Ana

For the translation or for the organisation in general I would be happy to help :)
I know some people who translate TED Talks (like me) when they have free time, I can talk about that with them.
I can only translate portuguese.
I can only translate portuguese.

Ps I'm fine after operation but little drugged today ;)

So I have some ideas. First of all i think that besides interviews we should have some kind of Q&A. I mean people can answer to some questions too like "what feminism means to you?" "why are you a feminist?". Also i don't know if we can do this but maybe people should talk in their own languages and have english subs in the video. Why? Feminism means equality, respecting other people's differences and our greatest difference is the language we speak. Maybe the viewers relate more to the video if they hear their own language
What do you think?

Love the idea :)

We still need some name but that in time.
We do this in 3 small project. Like Barbara suggested.

And the making that using you first language is good idea. I know that we have lots of people who straggling with English or feel less comfortable. We got kinda few translators in the group.
yes Angela we can add this.

Plus we must tell what matter for us , our family. How all of us can help to change the world. We must show our input. I want for this to be honest and real
And for that I need from you data from yours country I need facts.
I want that to make sure if we spread the right information. And your experience base on them . ( and please send it to me )

I think i can use you. For some clip. Normal people are scared to do this :) or they have no acting skills. The clip can be with a dialogue or just played and the rest we can cover by music. That can give us more entertainment and be less boring :)
Sorry guys for myself being sometimes pushy. But when i passionate about something I need do this as soon as passible but sometimes is bigger picture.
And do all new people. All you help will be appreciated. If you are Actress , Editor , Translator etc you are important you got knowledge in every level remember that.
I BOW TO YOU ALL :)

Recently when I was doing research about he for she and gender equality. I got idea for how to show that we care about those problem and explain to people who don't or don't understand . We can also help he for she.
So the idea is to make a independent movie about how to achieve gender equality explain what feminism is etc.
1 we need a story about main subject like violence, bullying, education etc.
So that is actually in progress know I'm try write a all stories with a help a friend.
2 we need people who want be a part of that project.
3 the people how wants be a part of that I give the stories to read and to choose one.
4athe story can be act but act I mean if it will be bullying I want see that much realistic how you can then recorded in small clip around 2m and sender to me .
4b or we can do that like interview every person pick a subject sit down next to your camera and record experience from you own life. ( I want true story )
5 then when I got all clips I edit that in one whole movie. I try to ask he for she for the logo use then we can put to our movie.
I need as many as possible , from every continent, every colour of the skin, every country.
I now that can be very private and some of you don't want share that emotion with the all of us. But this can be a big think in the awareness.
I talk with my friend from UN and he told me that we can send that to he for she.
And if somebody make a music it will be very helpful for that project. Because then we can share that on YouTube.
I want for this project to be our project.
Thx
