Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments For some reason, the actor playing Dan reminds me of Frasier Hines, so I now want to pair Jodi's Doctor with Jamie.

message 52: by Rick (new)

Rick | 2261 comments I want EVERY Doctor paired with Jamie. I also want every Doctor paired with Donna. Just saying …

message 53: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments My other thought, is the 4th Doctor with Kamelion.

Which would mean Tom gets to be in King's Demons, which I think would be fun.

message 54: by Rick (new)

Rick | 2261 comments Sixth Doctor with Jamie and Donna.

message 55: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments I like Donna, but I think the sixth deserves one companion that doesn't yell at him.

message 56: by Rick (new)

Rick | 2261 comments He yells at everybody else, she’d just put him in his place. And keep him there.

message 57: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments Sorry, I'm on Six's side here.
He was grumpy because his companions were always trying to boss him around or Peri couldn't move on from that one time he accidentally tried to strangle her.

He deserves a Yaz or a Nyssa.

Rick | 2261 comments Travis wrote: "… that one time he accidentally tried to strangle her...."

Ah … yeah … I’m just gonna move into the next room now.

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments So, before I fall into my traditional thanksgiving food coma:

If you could give the Doctor an alien companion, who would you pick?

Top 3 picks, extra points if you have a specific Doctor in mind.

My list:

One of the shapeshifters: a Zygon, a rutan or maybe one of those Cactus faced aliens from 'End of time'.
Save on budget as they'd shift into a human form/actor.

A weeping Angel

Ice Warrior: Completely impractical, I know, but I love those guys.
I'd definitely pair him with a short Doctor, so he'd be constantly towering over the Doctor.

Honorable mentions:
A Movelion: paired with either the sixth or tenth Doctors

The Wire: The idea of a hologram that sounds like a snotty upper class woman, trapped in the Tardis systems appeals to me.

message 60: by Rick (new)

Rick | 2261 comments Ice Warrior, definitely. Introduced in an episode titled “My Favorite Martian.”

“Cactus faced aliens” Yep, I’d go for that. 😹

Zygon, again yep. I do love me some Zygons.

But to be honest, I really want to see a Silurian traveling with the Doctor and another human, with the two companions constantly bickering about whose planet the Earth actually is. And pretty much every other alien race they encounter says: “You’re both Terrans, grow up!”

Silurian was on my original list, but I wanted to trim it down to a reasonable number and I kept thinking that instead of a companion, I'd rather just see Madam Vastra and Co. get their own show.
Which is why I didn't have Sontarion on my list either.

message 62: by Rick (new)

Rick | 2261 comments But Madam Vastra & co. (aka The Paternoster Gang) have their own series. With Big Finish … 😼

The Paternoster Gang Heritage 1 by Jonathan Morris
The Paternoster Gang Heritage 2 by Dan Starkey The Paternoster Gang Heritage 3 by Lisa McMullin The Paternoster Gang Heritage 4 by Paul Morris

I’ll probably be starting #4 this weekend. 😸

Rick | 2261 comments Oh yes, and they also appear in …

The Eighth of March by Lisa McMullin

And Strax is in …

Jago & Litefoot & Strax The Haunting by Justin Richards

my thought is any idea I had would just get compared to Strax or Vastra.
Though, years ago, I had a idea for a "defective" Sontarion clone, who was a pacifist and traveled with the Doctor.

That would be cool. I like that.

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments If I was pairing Dan with a different Doctor, I'd go with a grumpy one: Hartnell or Colin.
Think that'd be a good combination.

message 67: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments My idea to bring Mel and Peri together had me thinking about other companions within a Doctor's run that should have met:

Liz Shaw and Jo Grant: Happened in a n novel and blew me away with a brilliant, simple idea that was.

Harry Sulivan and K-9

Actually now that I’m thinking about it, I might have gotten it wrong, it might have been Mel and Ace, not Mel and Peri in the Big Finish thing I saw. But the. Again it might have been Mel and Peri. I don’t remember.

message 69: by Rick (last edited Feb 14, 2022 05:15PM) (new)

Rick | 2261 comments Liz and Jo would be great and would certainly make sense. Even Liz and Sarah Jane would be good too. And the. Maybe Jo comes back for a quick visit and you could get all three.

Mel and Ace would be a good combo too.
Not a huge fan of Mel as sole companion, but I think she'd work better in a combo

Rick | 2261 comments Dan and Jamie with the sixth Doctor?

message 72: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments Rick wrote: "Dan and Jamie with the sixth Doctor?"

Just seems like that would just be the two of them walking around going:
'What's he talking about?"
"No idea."

Rick | 2261 comments Help!

I’ve made another Doctor Who list. This is for the Unbound Doctors. Books or audios that feature Doctors that are not from the televised sequence of Doctors: Hartnell, Troughton, Pertwee, T Baker, Davison, C Baker, McCoy, McGann, Hurt, Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, Capaldi, Whittaker, Gatwa, etc.

https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1...

Please feel free to add any books or audios that feature other or Unbound Doctors.

message 75: by Travis (new)

Travis (travishiltz) | 2402 comments Not sure if this counts as a switch, but I want a full season of the 4th Doctor traveling with Adric, Nyssa and Tegan.
