Thank you Charlie. And wow, did you fly through the round *looks at my half dozen pages on the second book I'm reading with shame*

message 53: by Charlie (new)

Charlie B. yep its back to one for one now, lol

interestingly, not one of the books I reviewed would be my normal reading fare, and no, I don't read a lot of erotica, so its good to be pushed into new area's occasionally.

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Thanks everybody, I'm now up to date, I took a brief break due to the flu.

Please send me your emails by private message if you are due to review my book, it is in KU for those of you that have it.

T.S. O'Neil (tsoneil) | 177 comments Emma, would you mind asking Amelia to contact me so I can get her book? Thanks.

message 57: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Thanks for the review T.S. but I have no more access to members of the group than you do. I take it you have tried contacting her yourself?

message 60: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Strange, I had no problem, I just clicked on the down arrow next to 'follow author' and used the 'send message' option. I sent her a message on your behalf.

For some unknown (to me ) reason, the review was automatically posted from the U. S. site to the UK book page, I'm not sure how to resolve that. Suggestions? Here's the UK book page:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gladiatrix-Hy...

message 83: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Hi Dan, firstly thanks for the review. Secondly it isn't actually on the .uk site, there is just a link to the review on the .com site. You have to go on the .uk site separately and post the review there.

message 90: by Robin (new)

Robin Peacock (rubik101) | 145 comments Emma, I have a suggestion that might address some of the hiccoughs that might be of some minor irritation to some people on the 18+ groups. Some of the erotic/violent/BDSM/sex fantasy books are getting poor reviews from those authors who are writing in a completely different genre. I am reviewing books on self awareness and health promotion in the 18+ group, which seems somewhat inappropriate in these groups. Could we not advise all those who wish to enter an 18+ group that their books need to be in any one of the aforementioned categories or at least to contain explicit/graphic sex and or violence, as in the film industry? What do others think on the subject?

message 91: by Charlie (new)

Charlie B. I totally agree. I have seen books in this group that have been placed in other groups that are not 18 + there is also the chance that some authors might mark down graphic sexual stories because they don't really like this genre.
18+ should certainly be a marker on similar lines to movie certification although there should be an allowance for adult themes.

message 92: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments It's a point to think about, but the 18+ group was formed with the idea that it was about what authors were comfortable reviewing, rather that the content of the books. When I joined the review group, we only had one type of review round. You should have seen some of the reviews back then for more explicit books.

Changing the category to ONLY including graphic material will lessen the number of people willing to enter the group, as we don't all write what we are capable of reviewing.

The question of genre specific rounds comes up on a regular basis, but that isn't what the group is about. There is a genre specific review group, although I don't know if they have an erotica category. Maybe someone could volunteer to mod one over there?

P.S. you don't have to be gay to appreciate m/m or f/f steamy stories. The vast majority of m/m authors and readers are heterosexual women.

In my case, I do. However, I'm a big fan of F/F steamy sex. Just ask my wife :-) While this has been a joy, here is the link to the final review on Amazon UK. That completes my obligations to this
group. Cheers everyone, I hope to see you all on the NYT Best Seller's list.

message 96: by Emma (new)

Emma Jaye | 3693 comments Thanks T.S. So I take it your review might have been slightly different if the couple concerned had both been ladies?
I understand completely, I've had one or two f/f books on my review list, and although I can appreciate the romance, the graphic scenes aren't for me.

message 97: by Charlie (new)

Charlie B. Emma doesn't like graphic sex period, smiles.
