Thanks, G J Griffiths

I have instigated a new rule (see the sign up message) after a couple of people signed up for multiple rounds and then failed to complete.
one at a time seems to be the best way to ensure nobody takes on too much.

I did notice the new rule, Emma, and will be sending off my outstanding review for the Epic77 group in the next few days, in anticipation of this group's assignments being set up later. My review for Group 86 goes off today. If you wish to check I think you will find I have never failed to complete my review commitments - it goes very much "against my grain".
I completely appreciate what you are doing and support you in it, which I think you will understand from a mod's POV. If I fail to post my reviews before the new schedule I promise to withdraw in order to make way for another author.
Graham

Emma, can I join?
I have reviewed all books from other groups that I have actually been sent.
Of course, you're aware that in group 89, I haven't reviewed Cindy's book yet, but that's only because I can't, since she hasn't sent it to me yet.
Oh, and G.J. has reviewed me before. But a different book than the one I'd like reviewed this time.

Have reviewed all of Graham's books. I don't think Loralee and I have ever reviewed each other's books. The rest of the list is:
https://www.goodreads.com/review/list...

Can I remind everyone to keep an eye on the list as new members join, I really don't have time to go through everyone's list of reviewed books to look for clashes. For example I have reviewed over 200 books, I wouldn't expect anyone to search through my list to look if I've reviewed a particular authors books.
When I'm joining a group myself, I have all of my books marked as 'read' on my own account, and I just click on each member and compare books. It comes up with any books we have in common.
Of course this isn't so easy when you have several accounts....

Emma, can I submit my book too? I have been reviewed by both loralee and Noorihuda but not on this book.

A question: Do "no explicit sex" mean no sex at all? My novel has a couple of love scenes with a bit eroticism. It's not porn; it's just an extension of the characters' emotions. I think it's clean, but perhaps it's not part of this group's standards. Please let me know one way or another. And Happy New Year to all!

The general and 18+ groups are about what people are happy about reading, not necessarily what their book contains. The 'clean' group is the only one that has a criteria about what material is included.

My author page is https://www.goodreads.com/author/show....
I'll offer Water Pearl, a fantasy. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
However, if it doesn't meet the reviewer's fancy, I think my other books are a reasonable alternative. Check them out on my author page. And for an inside look, check them out on amazon.

I've only read Long Pig of yours before, and that would certainly hit the 'violence' criteria, but general 'action' would, (without having read the book you are submitting) be fine.
I think we are talking about 'ew' moments involving heads being bashed it, blood squirting etc. I don't think people would find a few punches objectionable unless there were graphic descriptions of flying teeth...

I tend to growl if I find out there is a reciprocal review AFTER I've spent forty minutes inputting all the data into the groups database when we have ten members,

And I've read Marie-Jo's From A to Zoe.
I've mentioned in other posts what my connections are, but to sum up with the people we have so far:
Graham has reviewed another book of mine; the one I want reviewed for this group is fine.
I have reviewed Ibiloye and Gloria before, but books other than the ones here.

Have you reviewed it?
And no, I won't growl at you,
However Gloria? Grrr. Please declare your clashes when you sign up. The theme is arranging things for everyone to get non-reciprocal reviews, and I prioritise inclusion in the group according to the date people sign up.

I guess I don't understand about declaring clashes. I did say that none of the books listed are familiar to me. Also I mentioned that I have several books available if a prospective reviewer doesn't want to do Water Pearl. What else can I say? Not trying to be difficult. Just want to do the right thing.
Hi, Gloria! One of the rules of doing these reviews, is that we never review anyone who has reviewed us before. Since I've reviewed Long Pig before, (which was very good) you could now never review anything I've written, at least in these review groups, although I could review something you had written, just a different work.
I believe what Emma means, is that as you join a group, mention specifically, who of the authors listed so far has reviewed anything you've written before, and whom you have reviewed, and their books you've reviewed.
That way, the work of the admins is made less difficult, and they don't accidentally assign someone to review someone who has reviewed them before. I hope that makes sense.

As far as I can remember, I haven't reviewed any works by those who are listed here. Any way, the list gets long, and with all the reviewing I've done, I'm not remembering names or styles or anything like that, so that doesn't influence me. I'm thankful for all the reviews I get, and I believe in giving honest and helpful reviews. I guess you want to be careful to avoid reciprocal reviews, but I don't think they are reciprocal if they are not in the same group. Nevertheless, I'll follow your rules.

And yes, Gloria, if you have ever reviewed someone, they cannot review you within a Review Group round. What you arrange outside the group with those particular people is up to you.
I have and will continue to do the occasional review swop, but I make sure I don't review those people within the Review Group.
I always try to set up another group ASAP for people that are bumped from a group because of review clashes. As those people will be 'top of the list,' everyone else will have to fit around them.

I've review Loralee before but not the book she has up in this round. She has reviewed my book.

Welcome, Tamara! I'm so glad you joined! Thanks, Emma. Tamara's right. We know each other, so it may be best for us not to review or be reviewed by the other.

I would like to join. This is my first round.

Once question before you put me into a group though, as I am new and do not want to break the rules. There is absolutely no sex in the story, but on the action side I do have some chase scenes, sword fights, a non-fatal crash, fatal arrow attacks and a military standoff with lots of drawn weapons. No gore, no gross discussions of bloody body parts, no sadistic violence, but I do mention blood once, when the wounded are being treated after a fight. Does that level of action violate the no-violence rule?
Thank you for your guidance,
Stephanie

Let me know if you want to go ahead.

My story is well within the lines of the spirit of the goals here, to protect those (like me!) who want to avoid having to wade through erotica and graphic violence.
Thank you,
Stephanie

Ibiloye, but a different book than he has in this group.
I have been reviewed by:
GJ Griffiths, but she reviewed a different book than I would be entering in this round.
I have not had any contact with Gloria, Stephanie or Tamara.
If I can join, here's my info.

Thank you,
Margaret
Margaret, if you're scheduled to review me, I can just send you my other middle grade book. I don't think you've reviewed Felicity~ A Sparrow's Tale, have you?

Emma? I'm sure the reviewer-batches you form won't have me getting reviewed by Gloria! Of course I can read both her and Graham, as I informed you. Good the group is near the start line!

I have reviewed:

When you add your book link it not only indicates you want to join the group – it indicates you AGREE that you are WILLING TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.
This is a ‘clean’ group ie absolutely NO explicit sex, NO violence. If you enter your book in this group and it contravenes the ‘clean’ criteria, the other members will be able to provide evidence of the contravention to the group moderator, in the form of the offending passage(s) and if the group moderator agrees there has been a contravention the members will not be penalised for not giving a review. The contravening member will still be expected to give their 4 reviews.
There is no genre filtering.
Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.
Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
Do not sign up if you have not completed your reviews in another review round in the group.
Make sure you have an author profile set up before you join and that your book is available for sale on amazon.
Please let me know as you sign up if you have been reviewed by, or have reviewed another author in the group. It is permissible to review an author more than once if a different book is available, but reciprocal reviews within the group are strictly prohibited.
