Elizabeth (Alaska) What is the policy regarding making a listopia static?

Vicky (librovert) | 2462 comments When you create a new list there is an option to make the list static. I have the option when I edit lists to change a list to static (though I can't find a static list to check to see if I can revert a list that has already been made static). I'm not sure if that's because I am a super or if any librarian can make that change.

It's been a while since I was super active in the librarians group, so I'm not sure what the official policy may be. But it seems to me that since the option is there on creation any list creator has the ability to make their list static initially with no questions asked. Changing the status of the list would be up for debate - but I would think that if someone can claim that they reasonably made a list for a specific purpose that would lend itself to being static (award nominee lists come to mind), there's no reason not to make it static.

Elizabeth (Alaska) I'm fairly certain that not only regular GR members do not have that ability, but not even regular librarians. I thought only staff could do it, but if you can as a super, then that is the threshold. Surely there is a policy, because listopia is a community resource and it shouldn't be that just any list can be made static.

Only supers and staff can set a list as static.

There should be a good reason to do so. What constitutes a good enough reason has not been formally defined.
