SOLVED. Boy travels to another dimension and has to save it [s]

It's about a boy who gets lead into this old subway where some sort of creatures follow him and he goes into this other world and he's some sort of traveller now, he also sends letters to his friends back home who end up helping him out on his journey to save other dimensions

I read it 3 years ago and it's somewhat a children's book I guess. It was pretty lengthy with probably over 350 pages

Its been awhile since I've read it but this could be the first book in the Pendragon series. Each book is set in a different world and he writes letters to his two friends back home, who often help him with his missions.
