No, it's not as good as Ove. For me, so far, the order is:
My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry 5 stars
A Man Called Ove strong 4 stars
Britt-Marie Was Here 3.5 rounded up
And Every Morning the Way Home Gets Longer and Longer 3 stars
His latest translated book is on my tbr

For me I am in Russia about 1840 with a chameleon huckster, Gogol's Dead Souls. I am also with a private military outfit that contracts for jobs in dangerous parts of the world, such as hostage extraction. This near future tale does a great job projecting coming developments in AI directed drones and robots in combat and a plausible scenario involving competitor companies going after each other in the U.S. Linda Nagata's The Last Good Man.

I am going to be the first person to borrow his latest one from the library. I am waiting until later next week to pick it up since I doubt I'll be able to renew [book:The Rise and Fall of D.O.D.O.|32075825]

Something fishy is going on; the link won't show up as a link unless I have that one that doesn't show up correctly. I can even get the title link to work if it's second. I wonder if that anomaly will show up anywhere else other than my browser. It's only happening with this one book so far, and only today.

Two good ones, Michael. Both are on my TBR so I'll be watching for your reviews.

I love Susan Juby!

I love Susan Juby!"
I like her writing, but prefer the two Woefield books; I think I like her adult fiction better than her y/a. Either way, she's funny!

I'm going back and forth from Pakistan to Afghanistan in The Blind Man's Garden. I'm only about 30 % an and some really bad things happen.

I'll be watching for your final take. It looked really promising to me.

The prose is awesome as is the story, but it is a sad story so far.

I loved the movie and then the book which I read aferwards.
For anyone who hasn't seen it, the movie is a delight - Helena Bonham Carter, Maggie Smith, Daniel Day-Lewis.

The scene where the men play like kids and chase each other naked through the woods before being discovered by the proper ladies was especially fun.

And unexpected. We laughed so hard we cried the first time my family watched it.

Thanks for the recommendation, Lesley.

I really liked it when I read it. It is not an easy book.

I know you did. I gave some thought as to whether I am in a position emotionally to read it but decided to at least give it a try.

Donor 3319 Profile: Tall. Blond. Blue Eyes. Medical Student. Wanted for murder. He is an anonymous donor. A couple that wants a baby has decided to use a donor. They looked at pictures and chose a donor. Then they see a man being taken to jail as a serial killer and he looks just like their donor. What would you do if the biological father of your unborn child was a killer?
For me, it sounded very good, but I cannot stand some of the characters, so it makes for slow reading.

I read his The One Man last year and it was quite good, very suspenseful, so I may have to put this on my wishlist.

There was something unique about how she brought that world to life. I felt as though I were really there. I loved it and am getting the audiobook so I can also experience it through listening.
I also bought her first book After Me Comes The Flood but sadly could not get into it at all.

The Summer Before the War is one that has been slipping down on my TBR after the initial flurry of readers had me excited about it. I seem to remember discussion about the audio. It was either quite good or quite bad, Are you reading or listening, Story?

I'm listening, Den. Narrator is quite good (though not amazing) and the story is amusing. If you liked her Major Pettigrew, you'll probably like this one. I think Judith gave it 4 stars on audio. (?)

I enjoyed this book a great deal.

The audio was quite good. That's how I read it. Not that you asked me, per se, but I'm chiming in since it was one of my top reads for 2016. (or was it 2017??)

I enjoyed this book a great deal."
I found it on Overdrive so put it on my wish list as I have just arrived in : "New York, a small town on the tip of Manhattan Island, 1746. " and dianeS recommends patience and her taste are very similar to mine. in Golden Hill..

I've moved on to book 3 now, with book 4 waiting in the wings. I'm a huge Atkinson fan and just discovered she has a book of short stories I hadn't heard of before.
