Even though Keira Cass has already decided this for us...I think Maxon was always the better choice for America. Aspen, in a way, held her back from her true capability. Maxon makes her a better America. She was always hesitant in choosing Maxon or Aspen because, beside the fact that she cared for both of them, she wasn't sure if she could be a princess alongside Maxon. She always doubted herself but when she wants to be a better person it is partly because Maxon influences her to be a better more understanding person.

I also never really liked Aspen so I may be a little biased.

Maxon, easily. For one, he's a LOT more romantic than Aspen. That said, Aspen didn't have near any of the money that Maxon had, so that could be a contributing factor. But then the fact that Aspen so easily recovered from losing America and finding Lucy really makes me mad...even though I hate pouty-boys (as my dad calls them :p ) Aspen should have at least taken some time.

I think it depends on who America thinks can protect her more. Maxon can protect her emotional stability(might have problems with it in The Heir), but Aspen can protect her physical stability(the fact that she probably cannot throw a punch at all when she's a queen). Maxon is who will protect her most, in my opinion.

Team Maxon!! Aspen is more of a hothead and he lost his chance. First loves are tricky and are usually meant to end. With an ending she now has choices that she didn't have before. Aspen lost his chance and Maxon is more than a prince.
