thoughts while reading:For as much as Robert loves Lyanna, he doesn't seem to know her very well. Ned is always correcting/sharing new things about her. Maybe he just didn't get a good chance to get to know her?
Even Robert doesn't want the Lannisters on the throne.
Ser Loras definitely knows how to be the center of attention/make everything into a show.
How did Varys know how Arryn died, but not even the maesters did?
Brianna- you're absolutely right about Robert and Lyanna. Robert was never the one woman kind of guy. It's clear in the first book itself. And as Ned recalls, Lyanna kind of knew it too. About the death of Arryn - How do you know that Varys knew and the Maesters didn't? I kind of don't remember that part.

Yet in this chapter, Varys tells Ned that it was the Tears of Lys. So either Pycelle doesn't know much for being a maester or he lied about it.
So Gregor planned to kill Ser Hugh. He pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. I love how everything is connected in these books. Nearly everyone mentioned in this chapter appears in future books as well which I think is quite awesome. The planning that must have gone into this series is crazy. Also, I love how different characters view the same thing totally differently. Sansa in the previous chapter dreamt more about the beauty of the jousting while Ned looks at it more technically.
Also brilliant foreshadowing by Varys with his last line.
