Anthony (Tony) Morelli had interesting relationships with his children. What are your thoughts about the dynamics of Nick's and Christine's relationships with him?

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I just finished the book, and I'm still mulling this over. Christine, being a female, was used to her dad overlooking her. I haven't figured out Nick's willingness to drop his law instructor career to be his dad's successor -- the easier way to go, rather than making an adult decision???

Phrynne | 607 comments This was one aspect of Nick that made him look very weak. I presume if he stays in the series the author will give him a back bone at some point:)

They both had an inordinate need to please him, which was never explained. He was such a jerk so it was hard to grasp. Both of them became children whenever in his midst. Nick needed to man up and Christine needed to think more about her son.

Did you find it odd that neither had a particularly strong image of their mother?

Robin (robinmy) | 1214 comments I think we definitely needed some back story about Nick and Christine's relationship with their father. I still have no idea why Nick let his father walk all over him.

Tracey (trakka) | 407 comments Very strange relationships. From reading the blurb of book 2 I'm not sure these characters stick around. Do they?

Phrynne | 607 comments I resisted too. Feeling strong:)

Melissa (melissasd) | 194 comments I didn't like him. He was pushy and self righteous. No one was better than him in his eyes, including his children. He didn't trust them to make their own decisions in life. I think he had made them both feel so useless growing up that they didn't know how to react any other way. Jonetta right! Their mom isn't mentioned much.

Mary Beth | 193 comments I didnt fee that they both had a strong relationship with their Dad at all. I was shocked when he saved Timmy that he didnt act relieved or happy to find him.

That was odd.

Mary Beth | 193 comments I just think that he would show some emotion when he finally found his grandson. He acted like he was just any random victim he was trying to save. So it was very odd.
