She was away from home and he wasn't really her "type" -- if her husband was. Also, how long had she gone without any positive reinforcement from hubby [not that I approve of adulterous attractions, just commenting on possible reasons for the attraction :)].
I haven't a clue what she found attractive enough in Nick, other than he was paying attention to her when her husband wasn't. I had a tough time with her adulterous behavior.
It's been a while since I read this but for some reason I recall not having a problem with Maggie's attraction to Nick. Her husband is emotionally distant and she's lonely. Also, her Catholic guilt is front and center so she punishes herself enough for me. Kind of reminds me of Temperance in Wicked Intentions

Exactly! I could understand her being physically attracted and lonely but this progressed way too fast under the circumstances. Deal with your marriage first.
For sure, this turned me off about her, and I wondered how there would come to be a whole series with her as named character! Apparently, this was a one-off situation....
I agree that she was enjoying the attention Nick gave her. He also admired what she does for the FBI and he husband doesn't. She sees a strong, sensitive man in Nick. Plus I found the descriptions of him very appealing. I don't agree with the progression of the relationship and the slips they made. She really should have been concentrating on the case, her past issues and her marriage.
I think she liked his charisma, and since her husband didnt like her career and didnt give her any attention, she got a boatload of it from Nick so that was a plus also.
