I don't remember much about this book but I believe it was part of a trilogy that I read in elementary school around 10 years ago. I remember the back of the book description had a boy being chased by bloodhounds and he made it into a city where they closed the gate just in time. I think this book had some sort of tree elf people in it and I remember them having stones that gave them some sort of power. I could be wrong but I think there was a dark king that the boy had to defeat and there was definitely sword fighting and something about an evil throne. PLEASE HELP!!!
