Rainbow Reading!

This is a month long challenge, running from the 1st of May until the 31st.

The aim of the challenge is easy - Read books with different coloured covers!

Ways to earn points:

• Reading a book with a blue cover (or any other colour) will get you one point. (Covers must be at least 50% of the selected colour.)

• Read a rainbow! (Red, blue, orange, yellow, green, purple) Reading one each of those colours will earn you 5 bonus points, as well as the usual one point for each book.

• Reading 5 books with the same colour, will get you 5 bonus points, as well as the usual one point for each book.

******* Please note, books with black or white covers count, but they won't count towards bonus points.
You'll get the one point for the book, and one point for a buddy read, but you won't get 5 bonus points for reading 5 of that colour. *******

• For every 2000 pages you read, you will get a further 5 bonus points.

• As usual, if you buddy read the book in our group, you get one point.

********** All bonus points will be added at the end. **********

Rules:

• Books must be read between the 1st of May until the 31st of May to count.

• Books must have at least 50% of the selected colour on the cover to count.

• Buddy read must be in our group to count.

• Books must be over 100 pages to count.

• 1 reread allowed.

• For all other rules, including what we expect for a review or buddy read to count, please take a quick look here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Prizes:

• One winner for the most points.

• One winner drawn at random.

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments Oh, I have a quick question : What if I read a book on my e-reader? Mine doesn't have colour, so should I use the usual Goodreads colour instead or not get anything?

You can use any edition on goodreads. :)

Tati | 10171 comments I know it's probably a bit early to be asking this, but would these count?

Boys Like You by Juliana Stone - Yellow
Midnight Crossroad (Midnight, Texas, #1) by Charlaine Harris - Blue
Thief's Magic by Trudi Canavan - Yellow
Let the Sky Fall (Sky Fall, #1) by Shannon Messenger - Pu

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments I'm planning to read this as I have a free copy: Just Jelly Beans and Jealousy (The Reed Brothers, #2.5) by Tammy Falkner

What colour does it count as?

message 13: by Tati (new)

Tati | 10171 comments Jenni, I'm afraid this one wouldn't count, as it is too short, and there is no predominant color in the cover.

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments Oh, ok! Know any good books that you can get for free/cheaply on a kindle? I've read the majority of my local library :)

I'd say let the sky fall is more pink, but if you;re going for "read a rainbow" you could use this edition -
Let the Sky Fall (Let the Sky Fall, #1) by Shannon Messenger for orange.

The rest are fine too. :)

Which amazon site do you use? (Co.uk/.Com ect) I've read a few decent amazon freebies, but a few of them are only free in the UK.

message 20: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments I'm from the UK, so I assume that it's co.uk for Amazon...I'm not that keen on horror, paranormal or overly romantic books but otherwise I'm fine...

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments The thing is, I'm still confused about how to download off of netgalley! My computer starts to hate me and displays error messages if I try :(

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 84101 comments Mod
you have a kindle though? if you have a kindle the easiest way to do it is to select the 'send to kindle' option (you will have to tell them your kindle email address, and approve their email address on your amazon account). that way you don't have to download stuff to your computer, and can read the books wherever you want on your kindle ☺

message 24: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments I'm not allowed to send things to my kindle unless it is guaranteed safe...

message 25: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 84101 comments Mod
it's guaranteed by netgalley. I think there would be big trouble if it wasn't!

message 26: by Jenni (new)

Jenni (thefabjenni) | 339 comments Ok, I'll try that...

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 6113 comments City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6) by Cassandra Clare Orange??

message 42: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 84101 comments Mod
I really don't think that is 50% orange Rachael. It needs to be roughly half the cover, so I don't think that would count ☹

message 43: by Rachael (new)

Rachael (classycupcakezz) | 6113 comments Yahhhh I didn't think so either.. Oh well

Rachael wrote: "Sorry to be annoying but

I'd say that's about 40% orange and about 10% yellow, but if you use The 5th Wave - Gelombang 5 by Rick Yancey it would count as red. :)

It took me a while to work out if it was red or orange as well!

If anyone plans to read the 5th wave for the GBR, you can count it for either red or orange.
