Indeed. Its one of those books that you read on a Sunday afternoon, reflecting upon your own family.

This is such an entertaining spool of family myths. We are guilty to certain extent of embellishing facts out of context to create legends :D

Doesn't this book incite nostalgia? There is so much subtlety, so much to ponder about.

Finished it.. Definitely liked it.. In fact, one of the few books where I did not mind the loose ends. And I loved the almost careless way in which critical information was given.

Well I didn't like Junior to be very honest! I found him to be quite selfish as far was Linny was concerned.
The title reference. May be it was quite straightforward or it could be deeper too. A spool of stories that trace back to the beginning only to end abruptly much like the Whitshank ancestry. Blue could be an afterthought.
I dislikes Junior too
And what a drastic difference between his and his wife's recollection of how they married!!!!
Yes... spool can be direct as well as indirect association.
