I'm looking for a specific novel/series

I had seen this book/series at the bookstore a few months back and had planned to read it. But when I went back, I could not find it, and now I don't remember the name(s) of the book(s)/series or the author. But here's what I think I know:

- It was either a series or a repeated style of book.
- The author was a likely fairly new female author.
- The book was a fresh take on monsters and/or vampires/zombies/ghouls.
- The cover was pretty inviting.
- She had written at least a few other books like it.
- The books are not so popular that everyone knows about them. But they likely at least have a cult following. They may or may not have been best sellers though.
