Group Read Books List - 2014-2015

Barry wrote: "Just opened Mr Mercedes. Good luck on setting chapter boundaries, the organization of the book is somewhat peculiar. There does seem to be a named section every 50-80 pages that would work."

At the least we should have the new Stephen King in November (and yes, it is a scary one - King said it even scared him!) Revival

King's Revival is in November.

Maybe we should create a thread for nominations?

Thanks, Ann. I'm #100 hold on 59 copies, so I hope that means I will get it in the next 3 weeks.

First Night of Summer
"Thoroughly engaging from start to finish...Overwhelming love, fear, self-doubt, and rage...emotions any parent could relate to. A foe that readers will want to see defeated, abolished, ground to dust."
--Sandra Brown, #1 New York Times bestselling author of LETHAL
WHEN TRAGEDY STRIKES, a father discovers that a journey of misfortune is sometimes the path to deliverance.
The quaint mountain town of Ruidoso, New Mexico, is the perfect place for Isaac Snow to raise his family. But when eight-year-old daughters, Caroline and Josie, commit an innocent act of heroism, media coverage attracts the wrong kind of attention. Soon, their life unravels, leading them to the crossroads of love and hate, forgiveness and retribution.
In the dark hours of a drizzly morning, Isaac, an ex-air force pilot, wakes to find a masked intruder cradling one of the twins in his arms. Before he can react, the man in black leaps through the nearest window, plummeting in a tangle of body parts and glass. Isaac charges in pursuit, but is suddenly faced with a new dilemma. Caroline is unconscious, lying facedown in the lawn, cuts from the shattered window saturating her pajamas. If he gives chase, his little girl will surely bleed to death.
From a secretive loner with a pension for unrestrained violence to the pristine granite peaks of the Rocky Mountains--from laughter filled family dinners to a string of cross-country abductions, LANDON PARHAM'S debut novel relentlessly explores the horrific realities of unnatural lust and obsession. Taken well beyond the investigation and law-enforcement tactics, you'll find yourself steeped in journey of evil and torment, and the power of family that overcomes it all. Suspenseful, bold and meticulously researched; a true psychological thriller that captures the heart.

June and July have follow-up novels by favorite authors we previously discussed reading: Stephen King, Finders Keepers in June, and Harper Lee's surprise second novel for July, Go Set a Watchman

Can't join in just yet (I retire in December), just too many reviews pending and working full time.
Looking forward to joining you in the future.

Part 1 is broken into "years", 2 and 3 into chapters.
With such an arrangement, maybe write at first chapter break after page 50, 100, 150, etc.

I edited the top post in this thread with the current list of books selected. We may decide to do a buddy read for one or two of them depending on the interest in the multiple thread segments or something simpler.

I'd also add the third in the Mr Mercedes trilogy. And the third in the Natchez Burning series. Don't know when they're coming out but I think in 2016.

I haven't done the f2f grp in a few months but the ones they did was this month the Sara Gruen one and the month before was Americah . I just got the upcoming list nov is everything I never told you by Celeste ng, they are deciding on dec and Jan is marriage of opposites by Ann Hoffman.

In 2014 /2015 we are selecting several books to read together as a group. During the month(s) listed, the book will be listed at the top of the Group Home page and multiple threads that are broken out by groups of chapters will be available. We'll use the Spoiler Talk on Books we've Read folder for the some posts. Edited - for some of the books we are making a separate folder to corral the threads for the main feature books!
