In the spirit of full disclosure, this series has been called "Percy Jackson Meets Harry Potter as written by Terry Pratchett," so if you aren't a fan of Sir Terry's particular brand of humor this series probably isn't for you. That said, I'm open to all reviews good AND bad - some of my best and most helpful feedback has come from 2 and 3-star reviews.
