Reading Order

So I currently own books 1-4 in the Falling Kingdoms series as well as book 1 in Spirits and Thieves and was wondering what order they should be read in. Is it best to read them in publication order like Cassandra Clare's TID and TMI series, or is it okay if I read the two series separately, read first books 1-4 in the Falling Kingdoms series and the book 1 in the Spirits and Thieves series?

I would say read the falling kingdoms book first, because there is some things (history and what not) that is referenced in the spirits and thieves books. It really doesn't matter though because the book still makes total sense with out reading the FK (falling Kingdoms) books first.
