Why Read: I loved Okorafor's fantasy novel Who Fears Death. I am particularly interested in her incorporation of Nigerian folklore and cultural practices in her work.

Comments: Environmentalist aliens land in Lagos, Nigeria. That was nice to see, but there were too many characters to do more than superficial characterization for any of them. On the other hand there was a fascinating ritual. Rating B+. See my review at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...

4)The Butterfly Mosque: A Young American Woman's Journey to Love and Islam by G. Willow Wilson (memoir)
304 pages. Source: Library Started: 12/5 Finished: 12/7

Why Read: G. Willow Wilson has written novels and comic books--most recently Ms. Marvel. She's attracted a great deal of attention as an American Muslim and I wanted to know her story.

Comments: She has her own approach to Islam which was good to see. I gave it an A- because I thought it ended abruptly. I had so many questions after I finished this memoir. I reviewed it at http://shomeretmasked.blogspot.com/20...
