Christian Palad | 6 comments I'm looking for a sci/fi book that is set in the Future, main character I believe is some sort of scavenger for old technology (I'm not very positive about this but "tech scavenger" is what really comes to mind when I try to recall the book).

The cover of the book looks like a comic book which shows the main character posed while either
a.) riding a hoverboard
b.) rapelling/travelling between buildings using wires

I saw this book at Barnes & Noble sometime between 2004-2012 but I'm not sure if it was published around that time.

That's about the extent that I can remember. Would appreciate help in brainstorming for me to remember more details and title suggestions.

Thanks everyone in advance!

Lou Rocama | 457 comments Maybe Orphan Star? The 2003 reprint looks like Flinx could be on a hoverboard:

Orphan Star (Pip & Flinx Adventures, #2) by Alan Dean Foster

I think he's actually on a rock, but I wouldn't swear to it.

Christian Palad | 6 comments Hey there Lou!

Thank you for your suggestion. It looks close to the book cover that I remember. The book I'm hunting for looks a bit more futuristic though. I think there are buildings on the background... darker like it's night time. I wish I had the skills to draw it. :(

Darren (darynlxm) | 3 comments This book The Scavengers has a comic-type cover, has a girl in a pose and there are buildings in the background... but its not night time.

Couldn't hurt to toss the suggestion your way!

Edit: It was published after 2012, though...

Hi Darren!

Thanks for your suggestion. The MC on the cover is a teenage (I think) boy. Cover art has a lot more SF elements on it and futuristic.

But still, thanks again!

Hi Ann,

Thank you but unfortunately not the one.

Is it children's, YA, or adult?

This one is aimed at kids and the pub date is later, but the description sounds a bit like your MC - "Daring 13-year-old tetherboy Chess and his salvage crew"

The Fog Diver
The Fog Diver (The Fog Diver, #1) by Joel N. Ross

This one is aimed at teens and features male and female MC -

Ashes, Ashes (Ashes, Ashes, #1) by Jo Treggiari
Ashes, Ashes

Noah | 3 comments This book sounds a lot like what you described:
Edda (Epic #3) by Conor Kostick
Someone riding a hoverboard on the the cover, there are people looking for old tech, and it is set in the future. Though this is the last book in the series.

Aerulan | 1317 comments Perhaps Bone Dance by Emma Bull Bone Dance by Emma Bull? Fits both the cover description and the plot details pretty well.

ETA, very good book by the way.
