I live in the US. The list that Panels provided for slice of life was mostly US for English. There were some in other languages especially French but they were not translated into English. Can anyone suggest a comic set in another country but in English?

And it's super-delightful, so I would definitely recommend it.
I read A Bride's Story, Vol. 1 for another task, but it is a slice of life comic in Central Asia during the 19th century.I've been wanting to read Aya too.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will check out their availability in my local libraries. However, An Age of License: A Travelogue is available and would probably work also.ETA: A Bride's Story, Vol. 1 is available but not Giant Days, Vol. 1
I *loved* Giant Days!!!I stumbled upon Dare to Disappoint: Growing Up in Turkey while browsing in my library yesterday, and so far it's pretty entertaining and fits the bill.
I ended up reading A Bride's Story, Vol. 1. This book told more of the story through the drawings rather than through words. It was a cute story, but I doubt that I will continue with the series.
I enjoyed reading Blue. It is set in a rural coastal town in Australia and addresses some interesting issues. The author actually used a creative commons license on the book, so you can read it for free online at http://www.boltonblue.com/.
