Disgrace - JM Coetzee and The Story of Edgar Sawtelle -David Wroblewski.....these are just books i read recently.......
There are sadly, many, but the two worst that spring to mind are The Rule of Four by I can't remember and The Little Friend by Donna Taart.
I didn't like "The Rule of Four" that much either. I remember being very disappointed.Hard to choose the "worst", maybe Thomas Hardy's The Mayor of Casterbridge for a classic, Margaret Laurence's The Stone Angel for a contemporary or Matthew Pearl's The Dante Club A Novel, and Lord of the Deep for a romance novel (romance is harder to choose because it depends on the kind of romance).
uhm... mine would have to be Dr Zhivago....Russian authors intent on confusing the reader is painful
lol yea. But we won't hate you for it :P I have been wanting to read The Shack tho. What did you not like about it?
I'm with Monique on this one - Twilight, without a doubt. I never could understand why Edward was supposed to be sexy, but that's only one of many reasons I can't stand it.I hated Disgrace too, but it wasn't bad per se, it just made me very angry. On the plus side, it started a lot of discussions.

lol!
i have 2 new "worst books ever endured"1. Dark Prince - Christine Feehan
2. Dark Desires - Christine Feehan
Ask me why i havent learned my lesson with the first one.... and i'll have to say, i'm a pathological optimist.

Sorry! Both my sisters are quite upset with me as they both LOVE Twilight!
I prefer the Charlaine Harris vampires....recently read Dead until dark, thought I would hate it, but was pleasantly surprised!
Hehe but how exciting would life be if we all agreed?
Ah yes Sookie Stackhouse, i loved it too! Her editor needs some work tho

Lu wrote: "Lol maybe when i'm bored :P"Indeed... you'd have to send your brain on a coffee break when you read a Feehan book.

I agree...dialogue gets a bit clumpy at times...
But I feel so guilty watching the show before reading the books! Normally I won't do that I always read the books first, but I don't have the money to purchase the books...
Me too! Infact the mountain of books I do own have just made me really poor. I should join the library but if I love a book I don't think I would be able to give it back. Just think of the fines!!
Haha I worked at a bookstore for 12 years and I have enough books to last the rest of my life...or a year in prison lol....but I CAN'T STOP BUYING THEM!!!What was the subject? Oh yeah...I had a hard time with Twilight too...but I'm more of an Anne Rice fan. Loved the movie though.
Worst book? If I'm not into it by pg 50 or so I don't even finish it. Simple Plan is the only thing I can think of. They made a movie that wasn't too bad.
Lol i know what you mean about buying books. I want to cry in a bookstore! I WANT IT ALL! Atleast i don't have the money to spend otherwise i would have a big problem lol
I'm gonna step on toes, I just know it :-PThe Twilight series... Very interesting idea, bad execution - Breaking Dawn by far the worst.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows... Also an author full of good ideas but not such great execution when it comes to the writing. The last book felt like she ran out of ideas and was a mixture of a desperate massacre and utterly dry writing.
Shades - Marguerite Poland
My list could go on, but those are the three that come to mind.
Marisa I would definately agree with you regarding BD it had so much ptential but Meyer really blew it. There wasa bsolutely no conflict whatsoever and everything seemed to fir into place, it was all too easy. Such a let down after reading New Moon. The worst book I have ever read to date would have to be Anna Karenina, it is suposedly the best novel ever written but it was a complete borefest and after trying for many pages to persevere I gave up and watched the grass grow instead. I dont have alot of patience when reading, if a novel does not grip me in the first 40 pages or so, I normally set it down, this book was torture.
Lord of the flies, I had to read it in English, I didnt care to understand it, it was a nightmare for me all the way...
And sorry, but Diary of Anne Frank, its a good story, but so boring I wanted to fall asleep, once again had to read it at school

Niecole I totally agree with you regarding Lord of the flies, although on the flipside I'm glad I read it cause alot of movies and books make reference to this book and I would otherwise not have gotten the significance.
I really know what you are saying, I truelly do... especially to the conch (sorry spelling) but the book was still the worst book ever! There are many others that are bad, but this one was really just a horror for me to read :)
