Buddy Read? Requests here!
Lilly, Hailee updated the previous Count threads yesterday so they will be easier to find. The book is broken up over a few threads. We'll just pick up where the last readers left off...
Pink wrote: "I'll also add The Count to the buddy read schedule list for May, with links to the discussions."Thanks Pink that will be really useful. The buddy read is likely to run through June and July as well.
Okay, here's the list of what we have currently planned. I think East of Eden was being postponed, so those interested let me know if you want it removed, or moved to a later date. Keep me updated with plans for Madame Bovary, Midnight's children and anything else I've missed and I'll add them once you've arranged a date.

Whoo, all of a sudden people are interested! You're all the bomb!I'll nominate Midnight's Children for July, and if it doesn't win maybe we read it then, and Madame Bovary in June?
July works better for me for Madame Bovary but I could do June if it's the last week. Does that work for everyone?
I could do the last week in June? I don't want to do two buddy reads in one month because I am not the best at sticking to my scheduled reading. I need flexibility!
I have All the King's Men-- beginning of June and Lonesome Dove-- middle. I figure if I schedule Madame Bovary for the end of the month I will get it done. Or July works too.
Your schedule is amazing, I would buckle under the pressure. If we do both in July could we do one at the beginning of the month and one at the end? I'll need some wiggle room in between for the new titles at work that invariably catch my eye.
As I haven't yet had chance to read All the King's Men like I planned would I be able to join in the buddy read in June?
Glad to see you all planning to read Midnight's Children. It is the type of story that it will be beneficial to discuss. I wish I could have read it with other readers.
Fair enough - sorry! The problem with trying to organize two at once. We'll see how the others who want to do Madame Bovary feel then re. end of June/beginning of July.
Cool! So it looks like end of June for Madame Bovary and then some time in July for Midnight's Children. Maybe not the beginning since it looks like there are a handful of us who want to do both.
I'd love to read Madame Bovary with you all and possibly Midnight's Children. I didn't do too well with that my first time around :/Your June/July schedule sounds perfect.
I'ld like to join in for Madame Bovary. I usually don't plan my reading too far ahead but I think end of june will work for me aswell.
a couple of months ago, there was some talk of a Buddy Read of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle
just to say, I will be starting it within the next week or two if anybody's interested...
I'll hopefully start reading "One Hundred Years of Solitude" on 1st of July. Does anybody want to join?

Hey guys!
I'm planning to read One Hundred Years of Solitude from the 1st of July. Does anybody want to join me? :-)

I want to read it this year but 1st two weeks of July aren't good for me. I may tag on later in July if you get a thread going

I have no idea why but I can't push myself into reading this book so I thought it would be a good idea to find a buddy read :-)

Buddy reads are great for that very reason. : ) I'm reading this to fill a BINGO spot and broaden my horizons but it's not something I'm dying to read, so a buddy read is perfect. I've ended up loving many books that I read for this reason so hopefully this will be like that too.
I read it in January as part of Bingo but also because I had wanted to read it for awhile. Solitude isn't something everyone likes, even though I did, so it is smart you are doing it as a buddy read.
If anyone is interested, Hailee and I are starting Americanah on Tuesday. Since it was just the two of us, we didn't see a need to start a thread. But if anyone else is interested, you can message me!

Thanks Brina!
I already feel like I'm not gonna like it but I have to read it as my field of study is literature. All I'm hoping for is to find it interesting as it goes on. It's been in my book shelf for a long time!

I'm in for Madame Bovary! It's been sitting on my shelf for a billion years and I want to just read it already, thanks for the motivation, all!
I've added Americanah, 100 years of solitude and A tree grows in Brooklyn to the schedule list. Here's a copy with links to the existing discussions. Let me know if you want any changes, or if I've missed anything :) JUNE

Sue and I are changing our buddy read of A Tree Grows in Brooklyn to next week. If it is convenient for anyone or they happen to have time cleared away, we would love to have you join us.
