Review: I like this authors cute café books. The characters are good and the story is decent. It's just one of those books you read with a cup of tea by the fire.

Review: This book was cute...nothing earth shattering or great, just some cute moments. I had read Book 1 a while back and honestly didnt remember much of the storyline or characters, but didn't feel like i was missing anything. I'll eventually read the next book but nothing I'm jumping to read right away.

I really enjoy Jay Northcote's books. There is usually nothing new or different in her stories, but to me it is like visiting an old, dear friend...comforting and familiar. I know I am going to end the story with a smile on my face and a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. This book certainly gave me that.
I liked the small glimpse we got of Josh in Helping Hand so I was very glad to see him get his own story. I also really liked Rupert. I thought they were very sweet together, despite the circumstances that their relationship started under. So glad that they got that HEA in the end! =D

Review: book 2 is even better than book 1 and I love how while Jordan and Lucas (Asher's(book 1 MC) foster brother) get mad and walk away they always come back. I am always rooting for Jordan after the ending of Book 1 had his male lover dying. It is good to see him on the tough road to recovery with the help of Lucas and his friends. I love Esther. best Secondary character in wise woman role.

I went over to help thread and cleared it with Ezi, that I can still use it for this weeks #2 in series.

McGregor Brothers #2
Finished 2/4/2016
3,5 stars
Struggling single mother meets her friends husband's player brother while emergency strikes her young daughter. He is supportive and attentive through things get stabilized and unexpected bond forms between Nicola and Bram.
Nicola is forced to accept Bram's offer for help but doesn't take seriously him hitting on her. Like everyone else, she sees only a rich playboy looking for another conquest.
Slowly things change and get hot between them until Bram's secret will be too much for Nicola to take.
Of course there is a HEA and up until the overplayed drama in the end, I really enjoyed the book. It's one of those where you keep reading through steamy scenes because the chemistry is there instead of just turning pages when another sex scene comes along. But yeah, I didn't bought the drama near end and the heroine overreacted with risking her daughter's life. I kind of resented her after that and lowered my rating.

No problem, if Ezi gave it a green light, then we don't need to worry ;)

Week 3 Spot 26
Book: His Expectant Ex by Catherine Mann.
Date Read: 1/30/16
Rating: 5 Stars
Theme: Book 2 of the Landis Brotehrs
Review:
I ended up really surprised that I liked this book so much. The first book was okay. But this book surpassed my expectations. It is a second chance story. On the verge of getting a divorce, Marianna and Sebastian have one last fling and after signing the divorce papers months later, Marianna faints, and turns out she is pregnant. Sebastian wants to get back together for the sake of the baby and Marianna is against it. The whole story is based around how Sebastian works to show her they can be good together. One of my pet peeves in second chance story is that one person blames the other for everything that went wrong in the relationship. That is never the case, and in this both the hero and heroine didn't place all the blame on other. The issues they faced were quite serious and would probably stress out any marriage. For a harlequin, it was quite good.

Review: the Mexican stereotypes beside, this is the book everyone should read. This story about life and death concentrates on Billy Parham, who after killing his wolf, turns into a complete loner and starts leading a solitary life characteristic for the 'lonely wolves'. Finding different excuses to cross the American-Mexican border, Billy loses his brother and short friendships he manages to make on the way, and finds various characters who talk to him about the meaning of life and the proximity of death.
I'm especially glad to see that the author didn't wrote a novel based on a superficial research, but try to show his readers the life of a cowboy and the Mexican soul at the same time.

Moonlight Becomes You

book 1 of Lucky Moon series
read 2/5/16
rating 4 stars
Review Shane Ventura And Kayden Berlin are the leaders and Lead singers of their respective rock groups (Luck and Moonlight). Shane is losing interest in living the stereotypical rock star life he has been living while Kayden has a secret. Kayden was the instigator of the two group tour their groups are on. Kayden is chilly toward Shane and Shane's brother Nick.
this book alternate from the present to twelve years earlier when Shane along with Nick, their best Friend Dre, and Jesse from Luck. The reason for this becomes clear when it is revealed that (view spoiler) . The chemistry between Shane and Kayden is instant even when Kayden does his best to shoot down Shane whenever he tries to get to even know him much less try to go on a date or have sex.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

series: Travis Family #1
finished 2/8/2016
3,5 stars
Liberty Jones grows up in trailer park near Houston. Her father is dead and mom has a lot of loser boyfriends. When she is 17, she finds herself alone with no money and her baby sister to take care of.
With a lot of determination and sacrifice Liberty manages to take care of her sister and move away from trailer park. When she meets an older rich Texan businessman by chance, her life changes.
Up until this point I really liked the story. After that not so much anymore. Liberty's relationship with her bosses son wasn't believable and I really couldn't except how the author treated her childhood crush Hardy. Her mothers secret and connection to Travis family was just silly and I'd never take Mr. Travis as that kind of man.

Well that was most definitely my favorite in the series so far. I absolutely loved it! Brent is insecure and an introvert. Hell is just adorable, pushy, extremely extroverted, and so good for Brent. I understood Brent's hesitance to deal with his insecurity and his issues. Those are huge painful things for anyone to deal with and it is often just easier to continue to bury them. My only issue was the quick wrap up. I would have liked to have seen more of Brent dealing with things, both with his friends and with Hell.
That said I still enjoyed the hell out of this book. Lol!

Review : This was okay...I was really expecting a bit more...I have always found Nick Offerman funny in things I've seen him in, and had high hopes for this book as it was nominated for a GR Choice Award for Humor. But it fell a bit short for me. I listened to the audio book thinking it would give a bit more as the author narrated it...however there were parts (most parts) that I just didn't find funny. It was interesting but not always funny. The book covered 21 people in American history who the author felt were "great Americans" with GUMPTION. I guess I never really knew the definition of the word (as when it was being used I didn't get it and had to look it up). Noun - shrewd or spirited initiative and resourcefulness. Makes a bit more sense now, and some of the stories (including the chapter on Eleanor Roosevelt, Carol Burnett, and Willie Nelson) were interesting. But overall the book as a whole seemed a bit too much. I do still plan to read his other book Paddle Your Own Canoe: One Man's Fundamentals for Delicious Living and hoping for a bit more humor.

Just a couple more reviews in and we'll get a new number tomorrow hopefully! How's everyone's week gone?

Work really shouldn't take so much time away from my reading.
Looking forward to our next roll because I intend to take Sunday off and read read read :)

Book: Dead Sexy by Kimberly Raye.
Date Read: 2/6/16
Rating: 4 Stars
Theme: Book 1 of Skull Creek
Review:
A good start to a series. Jack McCann has come to Skull Creek to kill the vampire that turned him. It is the only way he can become human. In order to fight the vampire, he needs to be strong. In this vampire world, they not only need sustenance from blood but they get it from sex as well. I guess since it is a harlequin blaze, that had to happen, but it's a bit of difference from the others as well. Nikki known as a good girl to the town folks, so no one would have thought she would have a one night stand and so everyone assumed she must be getting married. She convinces Jack to pretend to be her fiancee. The hunting for vampire became a secondary story and Nikki and Jack's relationship took majority of the book. It was a good, fun and fast read.

Review: The only reason I give low rating to this series is the incapacity of its author to give us all informations so we could solve the case by ourselves. At least i finaly get to see Irene Adler and got a little satisfaction of Sherlock not knowing a thing about linguistics, otherwise he wouldn't say such things about beautiful German language.

Book: Let's Pretend This Never Happened: A Mostly True Memoir by Jenny Lawson

Review: (Stand Alone Book) Very funny book, I read her most recent book first and I think this one was better. She was such weird quirky stories and I've never read her blog so this was very entertaining!

Yeah I think she had a lot of momentum with the first one, then the next one was kind of rehashing the same things. Except I liked the trip to Australia part. How do I get someone to sponser my life goals?

Yes you have to find it in a sentence in the book list page or location. I love the search function in my kindle for this. It was a bonus because I need to read this book for 2 other challenges and I really wanted to fit it in since it didn't fit into my bingo categories called today.
