This is yet another solid installment in a great series. There's so much pain going on in Roan's head and in his body, I just hurt for him. But I also want to smack him for his inability to share what's going on with those closest to him. I know this series is winding itself down to a conclusion and I just don't know how it's going to wrap up to my satisfaction but I hope that it can.

I did love the Holden/Scott side story line here as well. Holden's transition in the last couple of books has been really fun to watch. It's nice to see the jaded hooker not really know how to process what he's got going on in his own life.

The mysteries in this story were all relatively short and simple, while the focus was more on Roan's deterioration and Holden's personal battles. The cop/vigilante angle in this book plays out farther, and yet I felt Roan was more in bounds in this book than he's been in the past. The cops are taking an interesting angle with him and I'm very curious to see where this all ends up.

I've read through book 6 but I don't think I ever got over Paris. So the Dylan and I don't connect

message 60: by Shelby (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 982 comments I'll always love Paris, he was awesome, but Dylan has definitely grown on me over time. At times I want Roan to let go more of Paris as I feel like he still hasn't fully committed to Dylan even though Dylan is devoted to him and puts up with so much crap in being with Roan.

Paris' shadow is LONG. Roan has treated Dylan like an afterthought which is why I treat Dylan like 2nd choice too

My books did not fit both of the challenges, unfortunately. At least you are halfway through - you can do it then use eye bleach!!

message 64: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm done with it finally!

The main hero and heroines story was horribly blah and uninspiring .

In fact it was the heroes fiance who had a nice story . I was invested in her and happy when she got her happy ending.

That really isn't a spoiler because it becomes obvious soon enough.

I'd say 3 stars for the actual story and a whole extra star for sweaty, licky, smell-me sex. So hot! Super cute story of Alex, the bank manager, and Emmett, the homegrown county salvage guy. The big, sweaty, aw-shucks maam' gentleman. This was the first in the series so we meet a whole cast of funny characters that actually make me want to continue with the series. Emmett's mom and dad alone could make me read more. Realistic? Nah, but who cares, it was so entertaining.

This is the final installment of the Fast Track Series. While I really enjoyed the early books in this series, the last couple of books have fallen flat for me. This series focused on the men and women of stockcar racing, aka NASCAR and all are fictional characters. Although this is book 8, it could easily be a stand- alone book.

Harley and Charity are twins and can be construed as the good twin/bad twin syndrome. Harley has had a crush on Cooper for several years. In a desperate attempt to have a man (especially Cooper) look at her, Harley decides to trade places for one day with her sexy twin Charity. After an evening of sexual bliss,

Harley leaves Cooper under the disguise as Charity.
Cooper is acting guardian for his 12 year old sister, and has begged to hire Harley as a nanny. Cooper is confused when he begins to have feelings for the “Nanny” since he was under the impression that he slept with her twin Charity.

The happy ending to this long series is that Harley and Charity both get their dream men in the end. I just wish that the final book would have been more action around the track rather than around the bedroom.

Review: A groom of her own by Maya rodale

Rating:2 stars

This book is one of the initial books written by Maya rodale and that is very evident and noticeable in her writing style.

It seems like she has just blandly written down all the tropes and elements of a historical romance novel . But there is no emotion or passion in the story

The idea of the series is really good - the four writing girls but the execution really needs to improve.

The hero/ heroines story whatever isn't really inspiring or made me feel really invested in it. I felt like oh god just let this book be over . Why am I having to read this book.

The only interesting part in this book was that the author also wrote from the pov of the heroes fiancée. She and her story were in fact what is interesting about the book . Her happy ending was what I was invested in. In conclusion don't waste your time on this book. I try my level best not to write negative reviews but this was just bad!

I think what keeps me from giving these book 5 stars is the length. I get bogged down somewhere in the middle then pick back up around 70%. I think it's my crap attention span. Anyways, I really did love the book. Aaron was just the cutest, most guarded guy. I never could picture him as being 6' like described. I see him smaller for some reason. And brilliant. I love me some nerdy, smart boys. And Kreed, big, macho, tattooed badass Kreed. Yummolicious! I love that they didn't jump right into bed together. He had to work a little for a piece of that. The smexing was fairly hot which is a bonus but there was a really lot of it. I know there may be too much when I actually skim the sex scenes. I love that the other two couples played a big part in this book. It made this series feel complete.
