Book: Inside Man by Jeff Abbott
Date: 3/3/2016
Criteria: #4 in the Sam Capra series
Rating: ★★★★
Review: The series about former CIA agent Sam Capra, now running a chain of bars around the world for a secret organization called The Round Table, has quickly become one of my favourites. In this installment, one of Sam's friends, who is working in private security, is shot to death outside Sam's bar in Miami and Sam infiltrates the powerful Valeras family to find out who is behind his friend's murder. Like the previous books in the series, this was a fast-paced, great thriller.

I have come to really like Jaci Burton's books, but this one didn't have the same appeal to me.
It may be because my expectations were so high after seeing the interaction between Drew and Carolina in the previous book.
It started out that way, but then it just seemed monotonous. There is no real conflict. The main thing in the beginning was the fact that Carolina was upset with Drew about an encounter that happened years before. That whole thing was resolved and the only other thing the author could come up with i that they both have busy schedules or are not ready or a relationship. Really, people are super busy and have relationships and families every day.
That being said, overall it was a pretty good book, and also a good way to move the series along.

Review: Book 5 is cRaZy!! Connelly does such a great job introducing a new case that involves people from the past books in the series. The tie-in is incredible and the plot has you guessing. Even though it's not hard to figure out who did what, as Mickey does as well, the tough part is the unraveling. Figuring out how to get your answers within the restraint of the justice system requires serious finesse and Mickey is a master! I can never get anything done when I read a book from this series because it is so darn engaging. I don't even know how many books are in this series but I anticipate I will cry and throw a tantrum once I realize I've read the last or most current one. :-)

Criteria: Cover showing 2 or more people
Rating: ★★
Review: I usually like Jennifer E. Smith's books. They have great titles and are easy, cute reads. This one had a promising synopsis - 17 year old Hadley misses her flight to London, but end up sitting next to the boy Oliver on the next flight and thanks to him, the long night on the plane passes in a blink, but the two lose track of each other when they arrive in London. However, the story felt very predictable and one dimensional and left me feeling underwhelmed.

Review: Just like last week, this was a fun, reality show romance. I did like the characters in this one a little better and the banter between the 2 was nice, especially near the end of the book. And its always nice to just see 2 genuinely nice people be happy together. I will say though (view spoiler) ["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

The Devil's Breath - Emily Kimelman
March 8/16 4 stars
#5 in the Sydney Rye Series
Review: I really enjoyed this story. I hadn't read any of the preceding books. There was mention to prior stories but I certainly didn't feel lost. The action keeps moving, driving me on to keep reading. I like the way the heroine is so strong , is flawed, yet has some sensitivity of a normal female. I also like that there are several strong heroes surrounding the heroine. A good mystery storyline could see this being put into movie.

What am amazing sexy book it was and I and I loved every minute of it. The heat-fluttering romance between Eveline and Graeme was awesome and they had an amazing connection. These two are one of my favorited couples.

This book maybe even more than the first two was so much fun to re-read after knowing how the whole series goes. All the foreshadowing and little hints here and there were so much fun to pick up on and experience all over again.
I mean, it's Harry Potter, what you can you say? No matter your age or how many times you visit, Hogwarts is always something special, the characters are always your friends. I maybe fell in love with Fred and George again especially.
I'm really enjoying re-reading this series which is something I literally never do.

See you soon with our next book choices!

Review:
We met Cherry in Book 1. We learned at that time she was Lip's old lady. Lip was in jail and Cherry was a likeable good time girl. By the time we got to book 3 Lip was out, but I got the impression that he and Cherry were living separate lives.
Now we get to this book and get the book story on Cherry/Lindsay and Lip/Phillip. For whatever reason this one didn't do it for me like the others. I say whatever because I can't seem to pinpoint what it was exactly that I didn't like.
Anyway, some of it is hard, because Cherry goes through a lot, but it is still worth reading. For no other reason than to bear witness to how strong Cherry is. I don't know many women who would have survived under the same circumstances. I know you may be thinking, this is fiction so it would never happen, but things like this (the things she endured in her youth) happens more often than we may want to believe.
If you are already reading this series, you have to continue on with this one, but even if you are just in the stages of deciding if you want to give the series a try, I will tell you that you should.

I enjoyed this book loved the interaction between the hero and herione as well as their reaction to each other. This boom wad a refreashing chang from your normal everyday run-of-the-mill historical romance. I though the hero was a James Bond kind of character which was so cool.

Four stars for a historical book!? Almost unheard of for me. This is a genre that I try time and again but almost never make it all the way through a book of. I just get bored.
But this was a fast and enjoyable read about a subject I know little about. It made me curious to seek out more books about the yellow fever epidemic as just this small look was very interesting, and very sad.
I loved the characters, I especially loved the inclusion of the black community's huge contribution to caring for the sick and the respect given to them for it. That's one area I definitely look forward to learning more about.
Good read, overall.

Review:
This book reminded me so much of the Neighbor from Hell series by R.L Mathewson.
Caitlin has been trying to save her house from being gambled away by her father. Harlow, Duke of Dangerfield knows her father's weakness and plans to exploit it to get said house.
Months go by and now Caitlin is desperate and determined to win back the house that was supposed to be her birthright. Harlow of course has no intention of relinquishing the property. So Caitlin proposes a wage.
The sparks fly from the first moment these two encounter each other, and they burn hotter each time.
It is usually a little unbelievable to have a women in this time period being so independent, but in Caitlin's case it worked. This is especially true considering what a cad her father is.
The only reason this story didn't get five stars is do to the handling of a certain situation. I felt that it wasn't handled harshly enough, because things could have been worse. Just because they wasn't doesn't mean the culprit should have gotten off so easy.
This is definitely a hot and sexy read. So much sexual tension and chemistry, that when they finally come together it was a relief.
Looking forward to the other books in this series.

I loved this book. So different from what I would normally read. Liam is a transgender male. He has always identified with being a girl. Regan is his younger sister. It's merely the story of one girl in a boy's body, trying to break free.
I had never really thought of what it must be like for someone who believes they were born with the wrong body, but after reading LUNA, my heart and support goes out to anyone who has ever suffered with this issue. A definite read. I wish there was a sequel.

Book: Catch Me If You Can by Frank W. Abagnale
Date: 3/15/2016
Criteria: Stand alone
Rating: ★★★ (2.5)
Review: I was very exciting about reading this book. I loved the film adaption starring Leonardo DiCaprio as the young daring conman and forger who successfully impersonated a airline pilot, and a doctor before he even turned 21. Although it was an interesting read, I was less impressed with the life of Frank W Abagnale than after watching the film adaption a few years ago. In the book, he comes off as a boastful and annoying character who doesn't seem to think that he did anything wrong or is willing to take responsibility for his actions.

Review: This was my first introduction to V.E. Schwab and I enjoyed the writing. I wasn't drawn in immediately but my interest grew as I continued into the book. The author has a way of introducing characters without giving too much away and then slowly but methodically weaves the plot together. Once it grabbed my interest, I was thoroughly entertained and drawn to the characters. The different "Londons" was such a neat idea and the power/magic Kell had in traveling amongst them, made the story intriguing. I love Lila! She is so awesome and a refreshing change to the typical "leading lady" role. I am curious to see how Lila uncovers the truth about herself in the next book as well as the next "adventure" that brings her to work with Kell again.

I loved Lila too! It was funny, in the group that I read with, a lot of people really didn't like her. They thought she was too rough and mean, I guess. I loved the switch in gender roles and I can't wait to see how she finds herself involved with Kell again.

Review: I have heard great things about this series but I will admit I was less than impressed with the first book. I'm not much of a cozy mystery person so maybe that was it, but the story was pretty simple, I knew who the bad guy was by about halfway through, and Amelia kind of wore on me--would it have killed her to crack a smile or laugh?? I did like the banter between her and Emerson, and can see possibilities for the future books, but I'm not sure I'll be rushing out to buy them.
