Week 8 Spot 59Book: On Dublin Street by Samantha Young
Date Read 3/5/2016
Rating ★★★★
Review So this book had some flaws that were a little irritating and I thought that Joss' refusal to let ANYONE get close to her was a bit over the top. However, I still really enjoyed this book. It really surprised me how much I was able to look past some of the editing mistakes and dialogue and really enjoy it. I liked the patience and tenacity that Braden had for Joss and how he gave her some space but kept fighting for them.

The Way You Look Tonight (Sullivans #9) by Bella Andre Qualification: book 9 in a series
Finished: 3/8/16
Rating & Review: 4 stars
Not having read any of the other books in the series it could have been a stand alone if I didn't know it was part of a series. I now need to go back and read all the other books to get to know the Sullivans better - whether from Seattle, San Francisco or the East coast.
This is Rafe and Brooke's story. Reconnecting when he buys back his family's old summer home that they had to sell many years before when they fell on tough times is made sweeter when he finds childhood friend, Brooke, living in her grandparent's old home. She also now makes truffles for a living so there is sweetness on many levels.
A fun read with family and friends, burn up the sheet moments, beautiful descriptions of the lake, a small town, regrets, loss, burn out, sadness, anger, hurt, laughter, tears, happiness, romance and love. The epilogue tied up loose ends but left me wanting more. I can't wait to meet up again with all the Sullivans and their many escapades!

Agatha Raisin and the Murderous Marriage by M.C. Beaton
How It Fits: #5 Agatha Raisin

Review:
This is a lighthearted cozy mystery that even though is part of a series can be read out of order with very much ill effect on the plot. Agatha is about to marry her next door neighbour James Lacey when her estranged husband Jimmy, who she thought was dead, turns up at the wedding. The wedding is called off and Agatha confronts Jimmy, wishing he was dead. The next day Jimmy is found dead in a ditch and Agatha and James are suspected of murder. They decide to play amateur detective and try to clear their names and discover the real killer. The adventures they get up to are amusing and seem to lead to more murders, before the case is solved. I always enjoy books in this series and will continue to folliw this series.
I'm glad your husband is back home Danielle, hopefully things will get back to normal for you.How is everyone doing with their reading, we're 3 books down.
I'm about 15% in my current book. I got sidetracked after my library trip (Oooh Shiny new book) that I started The Silent Girl only yesterday. Should be done before the deadline.

Review: I am really enjoying this WWII series...I certainly can't wait to get to the next book! I love history, and Miss MacNeal really brings the war to life in this series. You feel like you are right there in DC...in the coloured only bars, in public forums, where blacks and whites had to be segregated.

Sounds like a good series. Will have to add it to my TBR pile and hope to get to it sooner rather than later. My dad fought in WWII and was in England during the war. Settling of the west, colonial times up through WWII are some of my favorite periods in history.

Review:
I'd heard great things about this dystopian and it's been on my radar for a while. It's certainly an interesting concept: being ranked and made poor/rich/good government job/menial job based on a test. But what happens when the test fails? What happens when power corrupts? Day and June were great characters and the story really flowed. I'll be finishing this trilogy!
Week 8 Spot 59: #9 in series
Book: The Silent Girl by Tess Gerritsen

Review:
I'm going back to the series after a long break and I'm very pleasantly surprised how good it felt to go back to the world. Though the series focus mainly on the mystery, there is a subtle character development throughout.
The mystery in this one was very good. There were things on multiple fronts that engrossed me. I didn't completely predict the actual resolution nor that twist. I highly recommend this series.
Great work ladies, we're just waiting on Krystal's review then we're good to go. I'll check back in when I finish work.
Week 8 Spot 59Book: Insurgent by Veronica Roth
Date Read 3/11/2016
Rating ★★★★★
Review: This story continued on from Divergent with Triss and Four as well as their allies being hidden by different factions. All in all I really enjoyed this book, it was a very fast read as I had already watched the movie so I knew pretty much what was going to happen. I don't usually do that but I'd already seen divergent and wanted to watch Insurgent in theaters as I had the Divergent movie. The book is extremely well written and enjoyable even for being a YA novel.

Sorry it took me so long it's been a really busy week with having 3 kids here, one being a toddler means not much reading gets done
Krystal wrote: "Sorry it took me so long it's been a really busy week with having 3 kids here, one being a toddler means not much reading gets done"You're within the timeframe that's all that matters. Only week speed makes a difference is at the end if we're in the running for first place.

The Stories We Tell by Patti Callahan Henry was approved on the discussion board so I'll stick with it for this week.Fits alternate - green cover
I'll be reading
- #9.5 in series. I'll be starting Monday when I get home since I didn't bring that with me! Hopefully I'll finish in time...
Rutroh! I don't know if I have any green colored books lol I have to check when I get home as I'm driving 4 hours today
Belinda wrote: "I'll be reading

Krystal wrote: "Rutroh! I don't know if I have any green colored books lol I have to check when I get home as I'm driving 4 hours today"Safe travels. I'm still waiting to hear if mine was green enough or if I have to go back to the pile.
I don't know how this works but is it ok if I take a break this week? I'm really mentally exhausted and my mental health needs to be taken care of, I just had a mini break down making supper and on top of it I'm getting sick. If not I'll try and find a book but with everything going on in my family I just need to focus on myself for a little bit.
Krystal wrote: "I don't know how this works but is it ok if I take a break this week? I'm really mentally exhausted and my mental health needs to be taken care of, I just had a mini break down making supper and on..."Take a break - we still have our free pass, right Louise?
Don't stress yourself out with the challenge.
Make you a priority this week.
Hope things get better!
Thank you so much, I'm just so exhausted mentally and emotionally right now everything is getting to me.
Krystal wrote: "Thank you so much, I'm just so exhausted mentally and emotionally right now everything is getting to me."Be good to yourself and hope you feel better. Sending hugs that this week is better for you.
In future weeks try and pick books closer to the 150 page minimum. It does make a difference.
Krystal wrote: "Yeah most of my books are like 200 pages lol"that's not too bad
I've read some that are 300+ or more and when they're for challenges it takes me that much longer to get to the next book
Since I haven't heard back on the book cover yet I'll probably go ahead and pick something else in the morning. It's not like I don't have hundreds of books in bags in my guest room many of which I haven't read yet, others are keepers and some I've read and have to sort and see if I'm donating them to the public library's monthly book sale.3:30am here now with the time change so I'm off to bed.

Week 9: Roll: 10 Spot:69
The Stories We Tell by Patti Callahan HenryQualification: alternate - green cover
Finished: 3/15/16
The book was a little hard to get into due to the lies and lies of omission, the untruths, the hiding their heads in the sands for their image, the crying out for help and the way Cooper was portrayed. He didn't seem real - no feelings, no love unless Eve fell in with his wishes.
This was women's fiction that kept me turning the pages even when I always didn't want to but ultimately was glad I did.

How it Fits 9th Book in Series
Rating ★★★★★
Review: This book had a lot going on but I really enjoyed it. I wouldn't recommend reading it as a stand alone but if you are already immersed in Mercy's world then you've been waiting to see how things would shake out with the Fae and you won't be disappointed. There are a lot of Fae politics in this book but you also get to see a lot of humorous, sweet, and intimate moments between Adam and Mercy. There are also some important moments within the pack. Along with all of that there is plenty of danger, action and suspense. I can't get enough of Mercy and Adam and I was sad when the book was over because I wasn't ready to be done reading about them.
Just wanted to check that this cover has enough green...
..I am also reading a 6th in series just in case

This Karen R book is really close. I'm on the fence if it's 50% green. White, yes. Green, hmmm? Give me a minute
