R7: "Seven Wonders of the Reading World" (2)

Club Dead by Charlaine Harris
Date Read: 22/02/16
Rating: 4☆
How It Fits: #3 Sookie Stackhouse
Review:
Once I finally had a chance to pick this up it was an enjoyable read. We see a different side to Sookie as she reflects on her chosen path. We also delve deeper into the politics of supernaturals. Sookie gets herself into the usual life or death situations, which she survives with a little vampiric help. There is the beginning of a possible love triangle which I hope will develop further in the series. Can't wait to start the next book.

Don't forget to write your review and rate it, etc. by Thursday midnight.

Happy Reading all. I'm reading the new Susan Mallery book that came out today. So far, so good.

Book: The Suffragette Scandal by Courtney Milan
Date Read: 22 Feb
Rating: ★★★★
Review:
I love this series by Milan. It's set in a different period with really different characters. I'm not sure how realistic it is but I like how it showed the gradual change that was happening during that period. I loved the MC in this one and the sort of role-reversal that happened. One of the better historicals I've read in a while.

She's an author that I have to catch up with. I'm so behind in her series.
Glad you're enjoying it.

We can always use our free pass unless you think it's doable before midnight Friday night. Tomorrow at midnight is earliest we can roll if all reviews are in. So far I think there are only 3 of us done.

Remember the challenge is supposed to be fun! Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Review: I absolutely love Peter Mayle....he definitely doesn't disappoint. He is humourous and witty. And he makes you want to theow caution ti the wind and move to the south of France. Whike it does take some time to get to the crime solving, the story takes you on an adventure throughout the region..an adventure including wine and food....something that the French are well known for. I am hoping that a new book will be under way soon!

I love his writing style....I found him purely by accident....saw the title....and loving France....was immediately hooked!!

Glad you're enjoying it. "
Me too. This book was satisfying. I can't believe how she is able to go on with 42 books in a series. That's seriously amazing.

That is amazing. Some authors can really weave a story, keep characters and plots straight from book to book to book.

Book: Amber Flame by Caris Roane
Date Read: 2/24/2016
Rating: &$9733 ★
Review: I had a hard time with this book. It was just so cheesey and repetitious to me. I keep hoping that the author will explain why random people are starting to share powers. It's kind of like "fated mates" except they never say that. You just have two people who are attracted to each other and suddenly start sharing their vamp/were/fae powers. If I read "her were side" or "wolf side" or "access your new fae powers" one more time I think I would have thrown my kindle across the room. Everything was just resolved way to easily.
How it Fits: 4th in a series

I just finished that one and I enjoyed it which is great because the last couple of books just seemed predictable to me. At least this one was more emotional and we got to see Eve develop her relationship with Mr. Mira.

Great! We'll see what Krystal has to say later today.
2am here - off to bed.
Hoping for a really high roll of the dice tomorrow!

I almost gave up this series. I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as Mercy but this book gave me hope! I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure what was different about it? The Navajo? The horses? Fae? Another Pack? This really flowed and the side human characters were great.

Book: The Reckoning by Alma Katsu
Date Read: 26 Feb
Rating: ★★
Review:
I absolutely did not like this book, by the second half it was so dry that I had a really hard time staying focused, and I'm so glad that I'm finished now. I don't think I will continue on with this series, it was very anti-climatic after Adair got free and very dry.

We're ready to roll!
It's 11pm ET; 10pm CT
since we have to roll before midnight and all reviews are in even if not linked I think it's okay we roll.
I don't want to overstep or step on anyone's toes but for the good of the team and moving forward I'll give it an hour to see if there's any activity otherwise I'm going to take it upon myself to roll for the team and Louise can then finish linking reviews and posting it on the proper site.
I'll keep checking back and hope I'm not annoying anyone!

Jennifer Snow is a favorite author of mine and she gave me the three books in the series to read/review for an upcoming promo on Romancing-the-Book.com which I review for. The book is definitely different from my normal reads since it has the sport of fighting at its core but it's still a love story where the right man gets the girl! Lot of action, fighting terms and a quick read. Can't wait to start book 2 in the series, Fighting the Fall!
