Emily March is the New York Times, Publishers Weekly, and USA Today bestselling author of over thirty novels, including the critically acclaimed Eternity Springs series. Publishers Weekly calls March a "master of delightful banter," and her heartwarming, emotionally charged stories have been named to Best of the Year lists by Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Romance Writers of America.
Eternity Springs is a very small town, nestled in the Colorado Mountains, with scatterings of Victorian-era cottages and store fronts and rustic cabins all surrounded by mountains, lakes, waterfalls, and forest. It was originally founded by three friends, Harry Cavanaugh, Daniel Murphy and Lucien Davenport. Once again I praise Ms. March for that special talent of making the setting breathtakingly real. As a reader, I appreciate the details this author gives to all aspects of this book, making me love this town and the sense of community I feel with its citizens.
This is the fifth installment in her Eternity Springs Series and another winner for me! Forty One year old Jack Davenport has been the mystery man of Eternity Springs for years. He’s rich, mysterious, and to die for sexy! He has been popping in and out since the very beginning and I’ve been looking forward to his story for such a long time. He owns houses all over the world but none of them “soothed his soul” quite like his Rocky Mountain hideaway, Eagle’s Way. And now he’s returned with ex-wife Catherine Blackburn.
There are so many things I loved about Jack Davenport. Handsome, strong, courageous, and without a doubt one my favorites in this series! His job often takes him away for weeks at a time and with the rescuing work he does, there is never a set schedule. He responds when he is called and the secretiveness of his missions prevents him from revealing much about his assignments. It plays an integral part of who he is and he feels strongly that it is “what he was born to do.” Unfortunately, it also played a part in the destruction of his marriage.
Catherine Blackburn is an investigative reporter whose most recent work has put her life in danger. She is a beautiful young woman with a big heart and spends much of her free time volunteering and helping out those organizations that are dear to her. With the recent threat against her life, she finds herself kidnapped by her ex-husband, Jack, and swept away to the safety of his mountain home. And she is furious!
Immediately the sparks are flying between these two. They haven’t seen each other since their divorce four years earlier where they both walked away emotionally crippled. Feelings of grief, anger, sadness, and despair were their constant companions.
It’s very evident that buried alongside these lingering emotions is hot, undeniable desire. They were once very much in love, burning for each other. As Ms. March gives us their story and the layers are revealed, I felt their brokenness. How could two people who loved each other this deeply drift this far apart? It’s been four years and even though they think they’ve put their lives back together, there is so much healing and forgiveness needed.
Dark, brooding Jack Davenport called out to me. While I liked Cat and wanted her to find the peace she so desperately needed, my heart completely belonged to Jack. In the beginning, I felt she asked too much of him and blamed him unfairly. Now, he walks around riddled with a guilt he doesn’t deserve.
As I became immersed in their journey I found two broken souls who finally are able to open themselves up and communicate with honesty, sharing their feelings and the emotional pain they each have endured. I saw a maturity in Cat that wasn’t there in her marriage. I also came to understand her resentment of Jack’s work. As she looks deep within herself, she realizes and admits she couldn’t see past her pain to recognize his. I find this to be true in most all of us.
Jack’s recounting the story of his childhood deeply pulled at my heartstrings and helped me understand better his need for home and family. Cat had always been his “soft place to fall” and throughout all the years of their marriage she had been the light in his dark world. Unfortunately, Jack was only now learning that when you love someone, you must share yourself and your deepest emotions.
But don’t think this story is all about pain and heartache. It is filled with laugh-out-loud moments! In addition, we also get more information on the three founding fathers of Eternity Springs; Harry Cavanaugh, Daniel Murphy & Lucien Davenport. Jack has found many old letters in his ancestral library along with a very old, yellowed envelope! And it was still sealed! I could hardly wait until this was given to the proper recipient to be opened and the big secret was revealed!
Another highlight was the solving of the mystery surrounding the Cellar Bride. We learned about her in the very first book and it was great to now have this resolved and my questions answered.
As always, it is such a pleasure catching up on the news from all the friends from the previous books. And of course Eternity Springs wouldn’t be what it is without Celeste Blessing being around pulling the pieces together with her words of wisdom. There’s also a new birth, a wedding and you don’t want to miss the bachelorette party! So much fun!
Once again, as I turned that last page, I felt as if I had just returned home from a long visit with old friends that I love. There’s more here than a second chance at love. This is a well-written story of redemption and includes one of the most unselfish sacrifices one can give to someone they care about. It is a story of a life at a crossroad and the outcome of the choices made. It is a poignant, tender love story that had me laughing, crying and rooting hard for a HEA. My only regret is that I needed more and wished the ending had been longer or an epilogue provided.
This series is perfect for those who love small town romance stories. It is very well written with such well fleshed characters. The sex scenes are not overly descriptive and the steam factor is mild. And for all those who have been immersed in the happenings of Eternity Springs, you will not want to miss this installment! You will not be disappointed for it is filled to the brim with enlightenment!
Nightingale Way by Emily March Book #5 in Eternity Springs Series Mild Steam Read: 6/5/2012 My Rating = 4/5 Expected Release Date: 8/28/2012
My sincere thanks to netgalley and Random House Publishing for providing me with a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review. It was such a pleasure!
The thing that makes Emily March's Eternity Springs series great is its characters, their struggles and close knit bond and I am so glad this time around we see Jack get his happy ending. I have wanted to read about Jack Davenport since ages, he's a mysterious man who works for the CIA and drops in at his house at Eagle's Way in the town of Eternity Springs quietly before disappearing again.
In the last book he kind of kidnapped Cat, his ex-wife. For me this book worked on so many levels, we gradually see the heart-ache and pain that lies between these two and how they came to fall for each other and even get divorced four years ago.
Catherine Ann Blackburn is an investigative journalist laid off her job but enjoying her freelance and volunteer work. When her house is fire-bombed her mother sends Jack to the rescue. Cat hasn't spoken to Jack since he walked out and served her divorce papers, at that time the silence suited her, she was hurting and was clinically depressed from losing her daughter who was still-born. In the past few years she has moved forward in life, the grief for her daughter Lauren is still there, so is the anger against Jack. He wasn't there when she stopped feeling her daughter, when she had to go through labour that was pointless and when she buried her daughter.
Cat and Jack's relationship had hurdles from the start, Jack's boss was her CIA mother. Cat's relationship with her mother has never been warm and fuzzy and she met and fell for him twelve years ago, her mother opposed their union but they had love and Jack worked as a bureaucrat and not in the field then. Then came her fertility problems, his move to agent status and more time away, then their baby died and Cat lost it and Jack couldn't get through to her and their marriage ended.
I found the flashbacks brutal and we do see in many ways what problems plagued their marriage. It wasn't the absence of love, it was in many ways Jack and Cat's inability to handle his job. Jack never shared his work, even his past was off limits. He never told her that his parents and siblings perished in a fire when he was eleven and that was what drove him to save people, but Jack could not save the most important people in his life. He learnt to compartmentalize at eleven and that led him to keep parts of him separate from his wife and that is not what marriage is about. They never got to have closure and then they talk finally about what happened when she lost the baby, he hurt as well but she had shut down and when she finally tells him she has a picture and Jack feels hurt that he never got to see it, such a poignant moment. She had been his oasis from the reality of work but their fertility treatments changed that, he didn't take them very well and threw himself more into his work.
With the passage of time and distance came maturity and regrets from Jack's side. He feels bad that he never fought for Cat and didn't tell her things she deserved to know and now that they were not married and mature he shared things with her.
I liked how Cat saw that Jack had changed and she too had become more stronger and mature. Jack told her about his friends and even his family. Jack was more open about wanting a second chance and told her he loved her while time had made Cat more wary. I disliked how her mother interfered between these two and never could make myself like her. Cat has insecurities because in her eyes Jack had chosen his job over her again and again and she was still the same person who couldn't handle that while she had come to see that Jack was a hero and should do his work.
I have to admit I loved the other residents of Eternity Springs. Cam and Sarah get married, Sage has her baby and all the other people we have come to love. Celeste as usual gives Jack some great advice.
I loved seeing these two make their way back to each other, dealing with the anger, the past, the unspoken words and the doubts to come together as better individuals even more in love than before. This is a series which works well if you read it from the start and I for one can't wait to visit Eternity Springs again.
Welcome to small town romance at its finest. March returns to the gorgeous town of Eternity Springs and its surrounding areas in a heart-warming tale that kept me captive throughout. the well written novel flows brilliantly via March’s eloquent yet approachable writing. The slight overlap with the previous novel really had it all hitting home for me, drawing the town even closer together.
I loved getting back together with the friends I’ve made in Eternity Springs so far in this series. Celeste was as priceless as always, keeping everyone on their toes. And finally, we get to know more about the infamous Jack. Seeing him as he really is and learning so much about his past tugged at my heart. He's such a complex character; so real yet such a paradox.
I'm completely hooked on this series. I love how it's about the people not about any chemistry or explosions or suspense. It all seems so real to me. This novel was the epitome of that.
7/5-7/10/13 - The lovely thing about this series is that each time you read a book, it's like revisiting old friends and checking in with them from time to time. There's such a peacefulness about these books that I always feel relaxed afterwards. I guess it's the Angel's Rest and Eternity Springs influence. This story centers around Cat Blackburn and her rescue by ex-husband Jack Davenport, the mysterious and handsome and wealthy spy who lives on the fringes of Eternity Springs and who we haven't really gotten to know before this. They have a tumultuous past that hasn't been resolved, compounded by the problem that Jack works in the CIA and reports to her distant mother. We reconnect with Sarah and Cam just before their wedding and join the rest of the gang in the festivities. Looking forward to the next installment.
12/9-12/12/19 - I do enjoy this series, and this so far is my favorite, this second time around. Jack is a mysterious wealthy man, a CIA agent who doesn't visit the town of Eternity Springs very often, just staying at his estate nearby from time to time. But he's cousin to Cam Murphy and is now making an effort to visit more often. Cat is his ex-wife, who during their marriage couldn't deal with his privacy and disappearances for the job after having also dealt with it her whole life with her CIA-agent mother. But when Cat's investigative journalist job puts her in danger, Jack whisks her away to Eternity Springs for her safety. Of course, they begin to rediscover their love for each other, but they are admittedly gun-shy and tentative. The warmth of Eternity Springs helps them, as well as the friendships they have there (and it's nice to revisit with friends from previous books for the reader, as well). I liked these characters and their real problems, but then it lost a half a point when one of them decided to make the final decision for both of them, then acted on it. I hate that. There's never an instance when one part of a couple should get to decide their fate on his/her own. It should always be a mutual decision--that's a real pet peeve of mine, and I was sorry that March made that an integral part of the story. As a matter of fact, that type of single-mindedness and self-centered behavior with her characters is what is making this series less attractive to me this second time around. March often includes that sort of decision-making in her plots, in order to create a little drama, I suppose, but it unfortunately rubs me the wrong way. So I'd really rate this 3.5 stars, but since I can't do that for Goodreads, then I'll stick with a 4-star rating. In any case, there's the expected happy ending, and it was fun to be a part of Sarah and Cam's wedding. There's also an amusing story around Sarah's bachelorette party. Well narrated by Kathe Mazur, as always, who provides a decent difference between her voices and does a nice job for the male voicing. I'll keep listening to this series, especially since I'm looking forward to Sheriff Zach's story.
Jack Davenport was a spy who had once been married to Cat. Cat's mother, Melinda was Jack's boss. While Cat knew very little about Jack's work, he wasn't allowed to talk about it, she was in love. Then there were fertility issues and when Cat finally got pregnant, Jack was gone when their daughter was stillborn. Cat was devastated and inconsolable. When Jack finally got home she handed him a map to the cemetery directing him to Lauren's grave.
Jack did his best to comfort his wife even though he was grieving too but he couldn't reach her. She'd completely closed herself off from him. As a result, their marriage ended in divorce. Cat went on to become a successful journalist while Jack remained with the government, rescuing people who got in trouble in foreign countries and had no way out. When one of Cat's exposes leads to her house being fire bombed, her mother asks Jack to intervene and take Cat some place safe. So he kidnaps her and whiskers her off to Eternity Springs where he has a home.
While there, Cat makes friends with some of the residents, volunteers at the local newspaper, and renews her relationship with Jack. She isn't sure where it's going or why Jack thinks things can work out between them but she's seriously considering giving it a try. Then her mother arrives, announcing she needs surgery and is planning to retire. She offers her job to Jack then sends him off on an assignment. He doesn't even have time to discuss it with Cat.
When Cat has to watch Jack leave again and Melinda is filling her head with the many reasons they should call it quits for good this time, Cat decides the best thing she can do for the man she loves is to set him free.
Loved the characters. Jack is quiet and mysterious, an enigma to the people of Eternity Springs. It isn't until Cat comes along that he really gets to know some of the residents. He's still in love with Cat but convincing her he means business this time is about as difficult as it can get. They begin to talk about their past and emotions long held inside come pouring out. All the hurt and pain they'd endured at each other's hands was brought our in the open to be dealt with. Unfortunately, Cat's mother interferes before Jack can talk to her first.
It will take a special effort on Jack's part to convince her they can have a life together. Even if it means kidnapping her again to prove his point. He has the full backing of their friends, couples you were introduced to in previous books.
Nightingale Way is a great addition into the Eternity Spring series! The author takes you on a realistic journey in each of these books and through great writing I find myself resonating with each character. You could actually see the wheels turning in both Jack and Cat's mind, which in the end leads to maturity in both of them. One downer for me is that I really wish it had an epilogue. Besides from that, I enjoyed this book and especially all of the the friendships.
This series is really growing on me - a second chance love story handled with sensitivity. The inspirational aspects are still there but blended into the storyline in a more realistic way.
This is the story of Jack Davenport and Catherine Blackburn. Jack is very rich and very secretive and is a member of one of the founding families of Eternity Springs. Catherine(Cat)is Jack's former wife. She had her house firebombed so Jack has brought her to Eternity Springs for her safety. While in Eternity Springs Cat begins to find close friends and to discover she still has feelings for Jack. Jack has always had feelings for Cat but feels hurt by things that have happened in his life. The book was a quick easy read.
“When darkness threatens your world, friends can be beams of sunshine if only you’ll let them.”
It’s been a few years since I read a book from this series, but all the characters came back easily. I’ve loved every book up to this point, so I’m not sure why this one fell a little flat for me. I still liked it and enjoyed reading about Jack and Cat, but it wasn’t a favorite. However, I am looking forward to reading the next in the series soon.
This book in the Eternity Springs series shows us that heartbreak and silence can lead to devastating consequences. When Cat Blackburn and Jack Davenport have a second chance at love it remains to be seen if they can let go of the past and grab the future.
THIS SUMMARY/REVIEW WAS COPIED FROM OTHER SOURCES AND IS USED ONLY AS A REMINDER OF WHAT THE BOOK WAS ABOUT FOR MY PERSONAL INTEREST. ANY PERSONAL NOTATIONS ARE FOR MY RECOLLECTION ONLY ** In the last book he kind of kidnapped Cat, his ex-wife. **This is the fifth installment in her Eternity Springs Series and another winner for me!

There’s also a new birth, a wedding and you don’t want to miss the bachelorette party! So much fun!
I greatly enjoy reunion romances, especially with couples who are over thirty and have experienced enough of life to really appreciate a second chance at happiness. "Nightingale Way", from author Emily March's "Eternity Springs Series", is a sweetly sensual story in which two people who have suffered great loss find their way home again to each other. Catherine Blackburn was only twenty when she met Jack Davenport. He was tall, dark, dashing, and utterly irresistible. He also went to work for Cat's mother as a CIA operative, and the two married against her mother's wishes. Jack's work took him all over the world into extremely dangerous situations, and he promised Cat that when they started a family, he would curtail his travels. After years of trying to conceive and enduring fertility treatments, Cat became pregnant. Sadly, while Jack was away on assignment, Cat gave birth to a stillborn daughter, Lauren. The loss of their child tore them apart, making other differences between them even more difficult. Years later, Cat's work as a journalist makes her the target of an unstable radical group. When her house is fire-bombed, Jack swoops in, carries her off, and encloses her in his protective custody. Finding out that her mother sent him does not endear Jack or her mother to Cat--she and her mother have always had a difficult relationship. Settling Cat into his mountain home above the community of Eternity Springs makes Jack face why he drives himself to take so many risks. He can't deny to himself that he has never stopped loving Cat, and he wants her back in his life, but how to make her feel the same way? Cat knows she's in serious trouble being in such close quarters with Jack. She's never loved anyone else, and he's even more attractive than ever. Something's got to give, and hearts must compromise and come clean before true happiness can be found. The poignancy with which the author handled the couple's loss of their child, and how each of them suffered in their own way, added such depth to the sweet and sexy romance story line. Eternity Springs is a wonderful place for readers to visit, catching up with old acquaintances and making new friends, all under the watchful eye of benevolent benefactress Celeste Blessing.
I love this series of books!!! So I was predisposed to loving the book before I even started - but not one page disappointed me. I loved learning Jack's story - and seeing whether or not he and Cat could repair their relationship. I also loved the chance to visit again with all the rest of the cast of characters from Eternity Springs. I love the mystery of Celeste Blessing - and always love how she shares words of wisdom with everyone - gently and wisely - letting the person figure things out for themselves, with just the hint of guidance. In particular, I loved it when she said: Forget your past. Who are you TODAY/ Decide who you are really now, not who you have been in the past. Make that decision carefully and consciously and deliberabely. Make it with the knowledge of yourself that only you possess, and then you won't be concerned with trudging in one direction or another from a crossrods, you'll have the heavens to soar. Make that decision and you'll have the power to discover who you will become." Very sage advice. If only I could practice what she preached. Can't wait to read the next book. Keep them coming, Emily March. They are wonderful!
Dark, brooding Jack Davenport hides his secrets well, never telling his wife about the dangers of his job, never sharing his thoughts or worries . . . never sharing himself. After tragedy strikes, their marriage shatters. Now a threat to Catherine Blackburn's life brings her back into his--and gives them a second chance. A reporter whose most recent investigation has ignited a national controversy and put her in harm's way, Cat thinks she can handle herself. So when Jack grabs her off the street and sweeps her to his home above Eternity Springs, she's furious. In the warm sanctuary of the Eternity Springs community, Jack and Cat face the heartache that drove them apart. But can they find the courage to pick up the pieces of a shattered love? This is truly a great read. I come from small town America, so i can compare without prejudice. Love the small town theme. Love the characters, love the plot, love the endings. 5 stars.
I really enjoyed this all the way through, then the ending just fell completely flat for me. I liked both Cat and Jack intially, but then I started to feel that Cat was really selfish in the way she handled Lauren's loss. I really tried to empathize, but my admiration for her lagged as the story went on. I actually liked Jack more as the story progressed. Then the ending....Cat leaves Jack for his own good and the good of flag and country! She moves clear across the country, hiding from him. SEVEN MONTHS later, Jack shows up, kidnaps her, and they work out all their conflicts in the plane ride back to Eternity Springs, and everything is all sunshine and roses!!!! I DO NOT believe it!!! I feel completely let down by this ending! It was just too abrupt!!
Nightingale Way is a book about hope, redemption, and reconciliation. It is romantic, optimistic, and enjoyable to read. It was a bit sappy at times, and it certainly would not appeal to most men. However, I read it through in one afternoon and found that I had a smile on my face at the end. Sometimes that's all you want in a book; a feel-good story. "Friends can be beams of sunshine if only you'll let them" (p. 111).

Thank you to Ballantine Books for a copy of this novel Nightingale Way by Emily March. This novel was given to me in exchange for an honest review. I received no financial compensation for this review. It is time to return to Eternity Springs. In this novel we meet Jack and Cat. Their story is not like some of the other couples you have met in Eternity springs. The main difference is that they are divorced. I enjoyed the last Eternity springs novel and could not wait to share this one. Synopsis: Cat lives in Washington D.C. She also volunteers with some local charities. Cat published a story recently about a dog fighting ring through a blog she publishes. One day a bomb goes off in her dining room. She is then spirited away to Eternity Springs by her ex-husband Jack. He was following orders of Cat’s mother Melinda. She and Jack both work for the government. Cat does not want to stay at first but adapts as the story progresses. Jack has always been the hero and helping others; since his family died in a fire. Yet Cat his ex-wife has never felt close to him. There is a lot of history between the two of them. Jack leaves her to go to help a friend. He returns unable to help, and this friend’s death destroys Jack. Jack makes some decisions that has others including his ex-wife concerned. Will they be able to help? Will Jack and Cat get back together? My Thoughts: This novel just did not do it for me. I found the story interesting but not to stick with. I had trouble with the pacing of it. The characters of Eternity Springs are wonderful! It has a different kind of romance plot bringing a divorced couple back together. I just did not enjoy it as much as other novels by the author. Emily March is a wonderful writer. The Eternity Springs series is worth a reader’s time. I would definitely read more!
The Eternity Springs series is about second chances; sometimes a second chance with a former love and others with a new one. In this book, the reader learns more about wealthy, mysterious CIA Jack Davenport. This book runs parallel to the previous book, Lover's Leap, in which Jack's cousin, Cam Murphy comes home to Eternity Springs. Meanwhile, Jack kidnaps his ex-wife, Catherine after her life is threatened. The two of them had let their relationship end because of false assumptions about what the other thought and felt. Together in Eternity Springs, they will have the chance to heal and open up to each other. Will they be able to let their past and her interfering mother find what the love that they never lost, but have kept buried? Will Celeste Blessing really leave town in search of another town that needs her?
Jack Davenport has worked in covert affairs his entire adult life. His wife, Cat Blackburn, knew he worked for her mother when she married him, but hoped their love could overcome the problems. When she miscarries their child while he's on a mission, their marriage crumbles. Now years later, he rescues and carries her off to Eternity Springs after a news expose she wrote results in her D.C. area home being fire bombed. Unhappy with his high handedness, the two finally begin communicating and exploring/exposing the problems that caused the break up of their marriage, and they get their HEA.
I really struggled with rating this book as I was reading it. In the beginning I was hovering between three or four stars. And then I was hovering between four and five. I think my final judgment is 4.5 stars, so I decided to round up to five. This book is really, really good. I was uncertain when I started it whether or not I would really enjoy it, but the longer I read, the more invested I became. I read this book almost word for word in a single day because I had so much trouble putting it down, so that should tell you something.
PROS
-The setting is wonderful! I haven't read any of the previous books in the series (yet, because I'm certainly going to now), but I loved the small town of Eternity Springs. I loved the description of all the shops. I especially loved Angel's Rest, which I think is a bed and breakfast? Cat stays in one of the cottages for much of the book, and I loved reading about the descriptions of Angel Creek and the hot springs. I have a strange love for hot springs, considering I've never been to one. If a book has them, it automatically gets an extra star (I'm kind of joking, but I'm really not).
-The characters felt so real. With one noticeable area, which I'll mention in the Cons section. For the most part, they reacted so realistically. When Cat and Jack fight, they fight. Nothing is held back as they throw all of their anger and grief at each other. And, my word, do they have so much of both when the story starts.
-I loved all the characters from the town. And now I need to read the rest of the books so badly, because I had so much trouble keeping some of them straight. It was easy for me to remember Celeste and Cam, but other characters - yeah, I got some confused. If I'd read Books 1-4, I probably wouldn't be struggling. But I loved reading about everyone, and it makes me want to go back and read their books so badly.
-Celeste seems like an angel come to Earth. The town is only coming back thanks to her efforts, and she remains the lifeblood, the voice of wisdom for all the bruised hearts that come to Eternity Springs. She's lovely.
-I really enjoyed Cat and Jack together. At first I struggled to see how they would ever reconcile after their divorce four years prior, because they had so many issues. At times I wondered if, just maybe, this book would end bittersweet, with them going their separate ways. But the way they dealt with their issues was refreshing. March blends the right amount of anger and guilt with having open conversations. They may not always like what the other has to say, but they're finally talking about issues they never spoke about before. And their pasts broke my heart.
CONS
-In the beginning of the book, I really struggled to get into it. I feel like a lot of the things in the beginning are from other books in the series. Mentions of a missing mother with Alzheimer's they help search for (mentioned in one paragraph or so), discussions of Cam's previous issues with the town (mentioned but not really explained). There's a lot that seems to be references to past books, so that made it hard to get into at first. If you've read the rest of the series, I suspect this will be enjoyable rather than a little boring, as it was for me.
-I feel like Cat got over her "abduction" fairly easily. In the start of the story, Cat writes an article revealing several major politicians' and celebrities' involvement in a dog fighting ring. Someone then throws a molotov cocktail through her window. After this, Cat's mother, Melinda, a major person in the CIA, has Cat's ex-husband, Jack, one of her former agents, drug her and take her to his place in Eternity Springs, to protect her. Cat is rightfully furious about this. Until about an hour after she gets there and decides it's not so bad. I'm sorry, but this feels a little too easy? It feels like the author needed her to get past that to get to the rest of the book. If I were Cat, I would've been angry for days at least. Maybe a week or two. It didn't ruin the book for me, but it was a minor flaw.
-Additionally, though it isn't really a flaw, I had a mistaken impression of what was going to happen in this book. The whole time I was expecting the person who molotov cocktailed her house to come back. I was in suspense wondering when it would happen. So that you don't go into the book with mistaken impressions, that person never comes after her. That person gets taken down off-screen, basically. There's a lot to love about this book, but if you're expecting any suspense or intrigue, this isn't it.
SUMMARY
I really enjoyed Nightingale Way and the town of Eternity Springs. It's a charming town with charming people. Cat and Jack are strong characters with compelling issues. Their problems don't feel tacked on or overly dramatic. Their reactions feel realistic for the stuff they went through in the past (both as individuals and when married). I liked the fact that March gave both of them reasons for what they did. Even Cat's mother, probably the hardest character to like in the book, is given good reasons for her actions. And by the end of the book, I was even a little fond of her. If you want a leisurely relaxing read with depth, this is the perfect book.
CONTENT WARNINGS: Mild language, nothing very strong. There are scenes of physical intimacy. I personally skipped these scenes because I don't like reading them, so I can't say how erotic the content may be. Judging by how short they were (mere paragraphs), I would guess they probably aren't very dirty. It's very easy to read this book and avoid reading those scenes.

Liked this addition to the Eternity Spring series.
Was also happy to read that when Cat and Jack meet after five years, both of them had matured and were able to talk openly about the issues in the marriage especially after the birth of their still born child.
Felt the ending was a bit abrupt. It says Jack kidnaps Cat again and then takes her para sailing to ask her to marry him about it is not elaborated about what the new Lauren charity work is all about and what role Cat would have to play in it.
