Caitie Quinn (caitiequinn) | 5 comments I'm following the GR directions for editing my book's info to add the series title to my books, but when I click the "(add new series)" link it sends me back out to the GR main page.

Why is this? Help!
:)

rivka Caitie, adding a series is something that requires a Goodreads Librarian. I created a series for your books: https://www.goodreads.com/series/1270...

Caitie Quinn (caitiequinn) | 5 comments Thanks Rivka.... Now my old cover for The Last Single Girl is showing instead of the new one. Is it possible to get the new one (the woman with the handbag) back to the default?

THANK YOU

Also, if you guys track this: could updating the series name be something the author could get permission to do please. :)

Aaron (aaronburdette) | 89 comments Hi Caitie, the correct cover should be showing up now. Also, we are looking to improve authors' abilities to edit their own data, and series information is one of the things we're looking into. It's not available yet, but keep an eye out!

Caitie Quinn (caitiequinn) | 5 comments Great - it looks like it's defaulting everywhere but my dashboard, so that should be all good.

Thanks - there's stupid stuff like this that seems a shame to track people down for ;)

Caitie Quinn (caitiequinn) | 5 comments So, you can see the libraian's note on right above everything else. I've noticed that no other books with a new cover show that. As an indie author who does absolutely everything to make my book as professional as possible, I was wondering if the note HAD to be there?

Is it possible that the note doesn't have to show on the page. I mean, the other cover is right there so they can see it and the AISN number didn't change (which is listed as if it's a different book.)

THANK YOU

Aaron (aaronburdette) | 89 comments Hi Caitie, it looks like that note was added to the wrong edition by mistake, since the edition with the girl holding the purse should be the primary (and thus not have that note). I just updated this to reflect the change!

Caitie Quinn (caitiequinn) | 5 comments AWESOME! Thank you. I like the clean look you guys have, would have hated notes all over the current version.

Have a great Sunday.

Christian Clason (christianclason) | 10 comments To create a series, you have to be a librarian?
I was having the same issue, I thought authors were able to add their series to their books.

Correct.

I think I got all of yours: https://www.goodreads.com/series/list...

If not, series requests are best posted in the Librarians Group.

Two things to note:
1) Series will only show up on your list if you are the primary author. So the series that you are the second listed author for will show up on your co-author's list: https://www.goodreads.com/series/list... (It's a programming limitation.)
2) It will take a day or so for the series to completely show up everywhere.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Just if anyone was curious, I remember the series creations having to be made by librarians came happened because authors putting books in series wasn't working. Instead of adding books to series, instead they kept making the series again (mostly never went to existing series and added a book; instead always tried to add a new series to the bookl). So instead of four books being in a series authors would create four series of the exact same name with one book in each series.

Between librarians persistently having to clean up all the duplicated series, re-add books, etc. it was better for the database if they just did it to start with.

rivka Actually, authors have never had the ability to edit or create series, unless they also have librarian status. It's a programming limitation.

Christian Clason (christianclason) | 10 comments Thank you rivka!
I don't mind the author thing. I just like having the part where viewers can click on the series (on a book's page) and see the whole series!
