Marissa | 33 comments I went into a reading slump. My father passed away at the beginning of April so I really wasn't into reading much for a few weeks. I started reading a few books (even some old ones) and couldn't settle down and was too distracted.

I may have read something after Silent in the Sanctuary, but can't really remember the end of March as far as reading goes.

Now, I am back in the game and hoping to make some headway.

Marissa | 33 comments 15. A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

This was a read-again to prep for ACOMAF.
I really enjoyed it the second time through. Not that I didn't love it the first time, I just never expected to read it again. But this series is seriously climbing to the top of my favorites. Dare I say it, but I *might* love it MORE than Throne of Glass!

Marissa | 33 comments 16. A Court of Mists and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

DEAR LORDS AND LADIES ABOVE! This book has totally knocked my socks off. They are missing along with my exploded ovaries.
If you see them, please return them promptly.

<3 Rhysand is NOW climbing into my top book boyfriends list. He's definitely near the top. Holy Night Court Batman. Steamy, sexy, broody.

AND FEYRE. She is badass. Not as athletic as Ms. Calaena but still badass as F. I love her.

And I am totally shipping some other people. (No spoilers in case you haven't read it yet).

This book was amazing! Sexy. Action packed. Just the way I love a book. And the fact that it is FANTASY?! Yummy to the zillionth degree of yumminess. Sarah J. Maas is a brilliant writer. I wish her much continued success and hope that her brain and fingers continue to give us such lush, rich worlds and characters to keep us on the edge of our seats.

Marissa | 33 comments The Fox & O'Hare Series by Janet Evanovich & Lee Goldberg

17. The Heist
18. The Chase
19. The Job

OK I am really loving this series. It's very much like the television show "White Collar." Nick Fox, a con man known for heist and schemes, gets turned and starts working with the FBI. His handler is Kate O'Hare. She's the expert on all things Nick Fox. Now they are forced to work together. Sexual tension. High jinks. International conning. Art thefts. You name it.

Got suckered into the series b/c 1) I LOVE heist and art theft books, 2) it was on sale for $1.99. Then of COURSE I have to pick up the next books.

Light, fun reads.

Marissa | 33 comments 21. Brownies and Broomsticks: A Magical Bakery Mystery

A crime solving witch that works in a bakery? Yes, please, and thank you!

Such a fun read. Glad there are more in the series. Quick, light mystery read. Recipes in the back is a bonus :)

Marissa | 33 comments Personal update:

WOAH. I'm already at half-way to my yearly goal. Since I don't normally track this well, I'm guessing that I read more than 55 a year usually. And I thought I was being ambitious.

Time will tell. I have not been broadening my genres as much as I'd like, but I am totally loving my mystery/heist books.

Marissa | 33 comments 22. The Crown's Game

This was pretty good. I don't think I would 5 star it because I didn't really connect with the characters but the plot is interesting. The writing was good overall.
I'll be interested to see where the story goes next.

Absolutely adored this series. The premise was super new and original. Magic origami? Yes, please!
I only wish this was a series and not just a trilogy!

Marissa | 33 comments These are out of reading order of when I finished them.

Ministry Of Curiosities series:
35. The Last Necromancer by C.J. Archer
36. Her Majesty's Necromancer by C.J. Archer
37. Beyond the Grave by C. J. Archer
38. Grave Expectations by C.J. Archer
39. Ashes to Ashes by C.J. Archer

Great series! If you ever watched "Sanctuary" on the Sci-Fi/SyFy channel, this is a great series for you. There are some typographical/grammar errors but beyond that, I love the voice and tone of these novels. Totally up my fantasy alley set in the late 1800s era England with supernatural beings and those that protect them. Check them out!

These are along the lines of 50 Shades, but SO SO SO much better.

Marissa | 33 comments Goal update:

-I'm nearly to my yearly goal! WOOT! Go me :)
-I haven't stepped outside of my genres. I'm okay with this because at least I'm reading something.
-Updating after a few books at a time is so much easier for me than listing each book separately. This way it doesn't feel so much like a chore.
