Once You're Mine (Callaways #12) by Barbara Freethy Once You're Mine on Kindle by Barbara Freethy. Finished 04/26
Dylan Calloway? So of course he's a hunky firefighter like the rest of the Callaway men and Tori Hayden is an investigative reporter like her late father and is extremely independent, strong and determined. Dylan is also the best friend of Tori's brother. Tori has had a crush on Dylan from teenage on. Tori is back in SF investigating the homeless population. She has a nagging feeling that someone is watching her, so when she sees a man across the street eyeing her, she follows him into a building that suddenly explodes and starts on fire. In walks the hero firefighter Dylan to put out the fire. Tori won't give up on this and Dylan becomes her investigator, protector and hero. Sparks fly between the two of them and they try desperately to put out that fire too. This book was filled with suspense, intrigue, romance, love of family, forgiveness and an ending I never saw coming. The only small thing I had a problem with was that there were just so many characters to figure out who they were and where they all fit. A book that was very hard to put down. I am never disappointed her books.
**I received an ARC copy of this book to review.** 5 stars

30 Days (30 Days, #1) by K. Larsen 30 Days by K. Larsen on Kindle. First with this author. Finished 05/05
I enjoyed the book and story line very much. It was very suspenseful. But I did not appreciate finding out at the end and being left hanging that I had to read all the rest in the series to find out what happens. From now on I will look up a book before purchasing on Amazon to see if it is a series and read ALL the reviews. Three star rating is generous.

Come Sundown by Nora Roberts Come Sundown by Nora Roberts
WOW!! and WOW!! The Bodine family operates a prestigious ranch and resort in beautiful Montana that is ideal for vacationers. Although the matriarchs of the family and brothers help with details, Bodine Longbow runs the operation with help of a large staff and family. New hire and old friend Callen Skinner is now on board. He has never forgotten Bodine and now that she is all grown up, he knows why. With great admiration, respect and attraction sparks between them. You can predict what will happen. Alice Bodine left over 20 years ago, before Bodine was born. No one has heard a word from her since. Alice tried to come home, but didn't get there. With everything going on at the ranch and resort, there are now two murders on the property. The deputy who has a grudge against Callen is pointing fingers. This book was so amazing, I can hardly put into words. It was disturbingly exciting. A book that is difficult to put down. The characters are so well defined that you feel you are a part of the story. Alice's story is so sad and emotional, I hurt and cried with her. It was a suspenseful, adventurist ride through this book. One of those that you are tempted to go directly to the end of the book to see what happens. And the ending was not what I expected. It brings out every emotion possible. I have read many books by Nora Roberts and I have to say this is my favorite. I would give this 100 stars rating if I could. WOW!!! and WOW!! *This was an Advance Reader Copy by#stmartinpress*

Secret Fire by Johanna Lindsey Secret Fire by Johanna Lindsey in paperback. Finished 05/13
I have read many of her books and have enjoyed them. This was not one of my favorites. The story line was alright, but I do not like reading where a woman is kidnapped, bound, drugged in a torturous way then raped. I really don't see the romance in it nor see how the heroin who once was an independent strong woman fall in love with and forgive someone who would do this to her. I would not recommend it woman who have been abused, or believe in real romance and passion. I never give up on a book as I feel I can't give a true review, so I did read it all. 1 star

Widow Woman by Patricia McLinn Widow Woman by Patricia McLinn on Kindle. Finished 05/26
Story of Wyoming in the 1880's where it was hard for a widowed woman to keep her fathers ranch alive and running. Writes about the life and hardships of ranching with horrific storms and cold that killed off herds, the round ups, branding, and greedy people trying to buy off or steal off from others. Add in the tormented lives of the characters that have brought their own baggage into the scenario. I loved how independent Rachel was and how hard she worked to keep her ranch. The romance was typical but fun to see how it evolved with Rachael and Nick. I have read other books by this author and have always enjoyed them. I was not disappointed again.5 stars

Lightning Lingers by Barbara Freethy Lightning Lingers by Barbara Freethy in paperback. Finished 05/22
The second book in the series is full of excitement, romance, forgiveness, magic, ancient beliefs, suspense and new beginnings. Katherine Barrett has just become a doctor when on the same night she should be celebrating she gets a call from her brother TJ who is deep trouble and is going into hiding and she is not to tell a soul. Katherine needs to try and find him and help him and has to get the help from her old lover Jake Monroe. They have a past of passion, anger and hate for each other. Jake agrees to use one of his charter planes to fly her into a remote region of Mexico. They encounter many perils in this trip but also find that there were many misunderstandings and how they have both changed and grown up. This book was fabulous and one that I had a really hard time putting down. So full of excitement and passionate tension. This book is part of a series but can certainly stand on it's own as the author does an excellent job recreating all the characters and situations in the previous book. I can't wait to read the last one. 5 stars
