She should give something at least, I agree.

Dawn | 199 comments The last time she posted anything was a couple years ago when Amazon sent emails changing the release date out twenty years. Then she blamed it on publisher issues.

No, she posted info in April. See my earlier message.

Dawn | 199 comments Hmmm...how do I miss these important posts? 2018... Why so long? Must be a legal issue since we know she had the book ready to release. At least it wasn't the 20 years predicted by Amazon lol.

It appears she changed publishers.

message 707: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments I thought that was in the works back when it happened based on what she didn't say.

message 708: by Giulia (new)

Giulia | 112 comments I just finished Morrigan's Cross (Circle Trilogy, #1) by Nora Roberts and I really enjoyed it. I'm kinda hit and miss with this author to be honest, and haven't read much of her work, but this one I really liked. The fantasy element lent it a different feel for sure.

Dawn wrote: "I thought that was in the works back when it happened based on what she didn't say."

I couldn't make heads or tails at the time as to what was going on. It was so curious as she'd self published so much up to that point.

message 710: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments She made a comment on her FB page that just intimated in that way that you can guess she couldn't actually blame the publisher but that she was blaming them. I think she wanted to move but they were being difficult. Watching this happen with several authors and I can really understand those who want to self publish. Like Judith McNaught can't seem to get her backlist published in ebooks or audio because if S&S.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7080 comments Mod
Oh, I feel for these authors who can't get control of their back lists.

message 712: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments Me too. Seems there could be some nice rule limiting how many decades they should be able to jam the works. Doesn't even make sense to me since it us a way for them to earn money on books they aren't even printing anymore.

message 713: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7080 comments Mod
Not printing, promoting, selling...it's mean. Make the deal.

message 714: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments It does seem like this mean girls way to get back at the authors. For the ones who were just happy to get published back in the day I am sure they gave away too much of their own control.

message 720: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1489 comments Ouch! Back in the day I practiced contract law and was in on several deals with top musicians. The goal is always to make the best deal possible for the company. The artist has their own representative to represent them.

It is all about making money. Why a company won't release a backlist in the digital format is hard to understand. There is virtually no cost for them to do this and nothing but profit if they do.

That's true. Even authors like Stephen King have admitted to that. It's sad how so many authors end up getting taken advantage of :(

I think for some young authors there wasn't representatives due to money. For them, just getting a publishing deal was it. As for the other, that is exactly how I feel. It is a win for the publisher who holds the rights, the author and the fans. I am boycotting Simon and Schuster until McNaught is allowed to release her historicals in ebook. Unless they just want to punish the author. Like with Maya Banks, they obviously tried to block her from releasing it with a different publisher.

For All Their Lives by Fern Michaels For All Their Lives by Fern Michaels finished in paper back
This is a very emotional, tragic, frustrating and dark book. Casey Adams, leaves France and her career as a dedicated nurse and goes to Vietnam to make a difference. What she finds is beyond her comprehension. She also finds what she thinks is the love of her life. Officer Mac Carlin is leaving for Vietnam to run away from an arrogant, self absorbed father and a wife he no longer loves and is now pregnant. Casey and Mac find themselves in the worse part of war there is and cling to each other. Mac believes his Casey is dead after an explosion and goes back to San Francisco so grief-stricken and having to deal with his family. Casey is not dead and is enduring her way back to life as she once knew it. This book was so real regarding the war, how we treated our vets and what they went through over there. Their lives would and never would be the same as their families. This book had me on an emotional roller coaster. It wasn't a fast read for me as I could only take in so much at a time. It just tugged at my heart, mind and soul. Looking for a happily ever after romance novel? This isn't it! But it sure will make you feel and think. I feel the author did perfectly what she set out to do. To make us FEEL! Bravo! 5 stars

Won this free book from author Susan Meier. Pregnant with a Royal Baby! (The Princes of Xaviera #1) by Susan Meier Pregnant with a Royal Baby! in paperback

message 730: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments I finished The Angels' Share (The Bourbon Kings, #2) by J.R. Ward . She is queen of cliffhangers. I liked this one better than The Bourbon Kings. But that could be because I was already invested in the story, so I wasn't floundering during the first part of the book. These are so different from her other books, but you still get that JRW sarcasm.

message 734: by Dawn (new)

Dawn | 199 comments Okay, this is to all the people who track release dates well. Fictfact emailed me today giving me series release updates. They show the newest Buchanan series by Julie Garwood, Wired, as being released today, but Amazon isn't even showing as a book. Anyone know about its release?

message 735: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7080 comments Mod
The date was changed last year to May 2017. I think that's why Amazon removed it.

I think the sales of her last two books were much less than anticipated and her publisher back burnered this one.

message 736: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1489 comments Julie Garwood needs to take her marbles and find another game. No author should have to put up with the garbage she has. She is a great author with a substantial fan base. I'm sure that are several other publishers that would jump at the opportunity to publish her.

message 737: by Jonetta (new)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7080 comments Mod
The problem is probably what we discussed earlier...maintaining control of her backlist.

message 738: by Anita (new)

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1489 comments Julie Garwood's backlist is awesome, that's for sure. Her historicals are among the best ever written.

Pregnant with a Royal Baby! (The Princes of Xaviera #1) by Susan Meier Pregnant with a Royal Baby! in paperback I received as a give-away from author Susan Meier.
Was a fast, cute read. Very predictable and a story that has been written many times. I thought it was a sweet story of a one-night stand that ended with a high school guidance counselor getting pregnant by a prince who would one day be king. An heir to the thrown could not be illegitimate so they made a plan and an agreement to marry and divorce in 2 years. You knew how the story would end, but I found it entertaining how Susan Meier did an excellent job describing each character, the emotions and struggles the characters endured through this story. It made each character strong and likable in their own ways. A wonderful summer beach read. Fun book! 4 stars

Daring to Trust the Boss by Susan Meier Daring to Trust the Boss just started in paperback that I won as a give-away from the author Susan Meier.
Just finished. 5+ stars
This was such a fun read. I read it in less than a day. It was one of the two autographed books I won from the author. Olivia Prentiss shows up for her first day at her new accounting job and finds she is being thrown into being the CEO's new assistant. Tucker Engle is not only handsome, but very rick and known as the Grim Reaper. He fire's more than hires. Both of them have relationship issues and a ton of baggage in their lives. Olivia and Tucker find themselves in Italy to help another multi-billionaire find his illegitimate son. In exchange, Tucker Engle will negotiate to buying him out. This was a predictable but wonderful book. I loved fantasizing with them while they were in Italy. The author made the whole experience so realistic. I have read two of her books now and they are fast, fun, summer beach reading. I would give it more stars if I could,

Summer of the Loon by Deanna Lynn Sletten Summer of the Loon by Deanna Lynn Sletten. Just started on Kindle
Finished 08/13/16A wonderful story of a young girl who is taken away from a life she knew in California to Minnesota to live with family and folks she never knew. Ali has lived with her alcoholic mother all of her life. Never knowing who her father was or anything about her mothers past. When Ali finds her mother dead after an over dose or suicide, she goes to live with her estranged, grumpy Grandfather Bill at a resort in Minnesota. This is a beautiful story of love, forgiveness, family and new loves. My heart broke for Ali and Ben throughout the book. So heartwarming and heart wrenching at times. I just couldn't put this book down. The author draws you in quickly with strong characters, a fantastic description of everything including the surroundings and life at a camping resort in Minnesota. Makes you feel like you are there. And I especially love how she uses the loons in so many analogies. I love to listen and watch the loons when we go camping in northern Wisconsin. I would give this more than 5 stars if I could. Fantastic story!!

Finished
The Cavanaugh House The Cavanaugh House by Elizabeth Meyette by Elizabeth Meyette on Kindle. + 5 stars
A young woman Jesse is buying a broken down, haunted house that was left to her by her aunt. She is escaping her demanding, unloving mother and her ex-fiance' who she found in bed with her best friend. Something about the Cavanaugh house draws her to it. Including the "million" mice she discovers when she moves in. Her neighbor Joe has known the family and the house of all his life. He has a sudden interest in Jesse. Jesse discovers the ghost of her aunt up in the attic and none of the stories about her death seem to mesh. Jesse goes on an investigation regarding her aunt, finding more than she bargained for, including someone wanting to kill her. This book was so exciting, intriguing and mysterious. All the characters were so well developed and believable. It was a real page turner and not the ending I had thought it would be. It was hard to put down. An excellent mystery and romance book. I just loved this book.
