(view spoiler)[No, I meant no harm, no foul from Crake's perspective...he could use him one last time and then he'd die. Was it Crake's desire to rid all of humanity (probably), or simply reduce dramatically the population giving the Craker's time to re-populate? I am interested in their evolution, especially considering their predestination to die at age 30.

I agree, I definitely think that Crake was punishing, but I think of some of it might have been on the self-hate side, seeing something in Jimmy he wish he didn't admire.

I just finished - just in time! I'm really glad I had a chance to read it. She's such a great writer. I was disturbed though at the futuristic nature of the book, but still having characters watch DVDs, email and eat tins of ravioli. I would hope in the future that Chef Boyardee is not the only thing left :). I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

I read this one upon recommendation by a friend, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it.
