Mona (forestgreenreader) | 8 comments This is my 1st reading challenge on goodreads. I made my goal this year to read 120 books.

Cassandra | 5832 comments How is your first-ever challenge going? Have you read any particularly good books?

Because of school and my new job, I had to drop my challenge from 120 to 100. But I've read some great books so far. Karma by Cathy Ostlere and Ophelia by Lisa Klein are my two official favorites. I've also discovered the Grisha Trilogy and the Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. So it's been great! Thanks for asking!

Cassandra | 5832 comments That's okay! 100 books is still really impressive when you're trying to balance other responsibilities. What do you study?

I'm majoring in English, but I'm still finishing up my general education classes and currently taking a Creative Writing class for my major. I want to be a high school English teacher. :3

Cassandra | 5832 comments Very cool! How are you liking the creative writing class?

Mona (forestgreenreader) | 8 comments Cassandra wrote: "Very cool! How are you liking the creative writing class?" I like it somewhat, the Creative Writing I took in high school was a lot more fun. We were able to decide what genres we wanted to write a lot more, and the class seemed more connected.

Cassandra | 5832 comments I was wondering about that... I've heard that college-level creative writing classes are more about pushing you to write something in a particular format or style. The creative writing class I took in high school sounds like yours - pretty free-form and fun.

Yeah, I had to write a poem (at least 10 lines), a fiction story (no fantasy, sci-fi, etc... basically just a made up contemporary story), and then a sort of non-fiction story (a story about something that has happened in our life). So it was sort of free, but not really. The teacher is awesome though and the class is alright, but I would have loved to have more fun writing activities as a class. In high school, my whole class wrote a murder mystery together which was pretty amazing.

Cassandra | 5832 comments Sorry I didn't see this right away. The idea of writing a story together sounds fascinating! Hopefully you enjoy your other classes more. :)
