This thought has gone through my mind on more than one occasion today.

message 354: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59882 comments I'm broken hearted about Alan Rickman. I have such a voice crush on him. He narrated The Return of the Native. I loved him in any movie he did - Quiggly Down Under, Love Actually, Truly Madly Deeply as well as the Harry Potter Movies and the Die Hard series.

So sad to have Bowie and Rickman leave us within this last week - both 69 and both of cancer.

Thank you Lynda, CFDeeDee and Janice for your encouragements :-)
I never had the guts to do it before, but this is just an intro course without some kind of presentation in the end. So that's what won me over. No pressure, no possible faillure in front of a whole audience, just a little group of people acting just as crazy as you are. :-)

Has your voice come back yet Lynda?

So sad, all those people dying in the showbizz :(
I didn't know Alan played in all those movies, just the Harry Potter ones. Now I get the urge to watch all those other movies you all mentioned. Maybe I'll watch a couple over the weekend. :)

That is very sad news about her husband. 2016 has not been a good year so far, has it?

message 365: by Lynda (new)

Lynda | 836 comments I think cancer has had enough fun this year, it's time it takes a break, or just goes away entirely. I'm over it.

Yes, my voice is back at about 75%, thank you for asking. It's nice to be able to carry on full conversations again.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments We've decided we need to round up Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart, and hold them in a cancer free, anti-aging chamber. Possibly with Emma Thompson.

message 381: by Tasha (new)

Tasha This guy wasn't mentioned above but I just saw a post on FB about another actor dying from cancer: Dan Haggerty who apparently played "Grizzly Adams". I don't remember him but I do remember the grizzy adams part. Maybe if he had been included in the list he would still be here with us... ;)

Class act to the end, that one.

Enjoy your weekend, Cherie! I love the company I work for, but one thing that bugs is that office staff do not get any paid holidays, it's always a vacation day or a week of 4 10's. (I typically work 9-10 hours 5 days a week, so either way I end up short-paid and behind in work).

Tasha Awesome!! Congrats and enjoy! I remember my fist night in my home, a very special day.

message 397: by Lynda (new)

Lynda | 836 comments Congratulations! Enjoy your first night at home. :-)

I'm in the middle of a big cooking day! I'm trying to get a lot of prep stuff done, and freeze a lot of pre-made meals. My mom lives with me, and she is normally in charge of cooking dinner since I work late hours. Well, at 81, she's having a very hard time just standing up and walking, so, I'm trying to reduce the amount of time she has to spend in the kitchen.

I'm running a little behind, since I got all the way to the store (half an hour away), and had to come all the way back, because I'd left my debit card behind.

I should pick up a book, but I think I'm just going to watch an episode of Nurse Jackie instead, while I eat my lunch - just unplug for a bit.

And that is a good move for Bowie's Album. Research is always good - now let's hope they find a cure.

message 400: by Joan (new)

Joan I saw some paintings by Bowie in a gallery once...the man was so creative in so many ways.
