Unfortunately boyfriend is home and even though I can watch it, I don't think I can do it in much peace and quiet. My sisters is coming over tomorrow though, maybe we can dump our men somewhere else (in the kitchen, making dinner for us?) while we watch GG.

Oh gosh Laura, where have you been? ;) There's been a huge build up to this.
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life
There will be four episodes in total, with each episode named after the seasons Spring, Summer, Autumn (Fall probably seen as it's the US) and Winter. I think Winter is the first Episode.
Each episode is expected to run around 90 minutes (so like four movies), on Netflix.
And we finally get to know what the famous 'last four words' will be that Amy Sherman-Palladino said she always knew she was going to end on.
I am extremely excited by this, my weekend has been blocked out in my diary for months so I have no distractions lol

Sorry you have to work. : (
Thanks for the reminder though. I had totally forgot about it, although I watched the entire original series this summer on Netflix.

All available now ..... aaarrrrggggghhhhh, I NEED TO GET HOME!

Yeah, only 1 significant hole in the cast because he's no longer with us :(

Most definitely! And then probably watch it again :)

Netflix still has the entire series available to watch (in the US anyway). I don't think it would make a big difference to have missed the last season, Peggy. Maybe you could just watch the final episode?

Who is missing from the cast Lynn?

Richard - Lorelai's father, Edward Herrmann died a couple of years ago :(

Have a great time, Sarah!

Hooray for the dog reunion! I hope next year will be the right time for you to get a dog.

Why did my mind immediately go to The Shining ? :)

Oh right, I think I knew :(

I know we don't have to tell you to have fun since you're bound to anyway. I hope you find a little peace during all the craziness.
Peggy wrote: "No, it's not the first, but it still feels like a bit of an achievement when something gets accepted :) This is my first review though..."
Congrats on the publication, Peggy. I look forward to seeing it when you get the link.

I hope everything works out and you can enjoy your trip without worrying about what you might be returning to.

Love the new avatar! Hope you're settling in well and we'll see you around more.

Why did my mind ..."
Everyone tells him he needs to read the Shining

Yep! Getting settled in. We have all our home stuff. We had housemates for about 3 1/2 weeks! Friends of ours moved here as well from Virginia so they stayed with us until they found a place. They have a 15 year old son. He was a handful to say the least :( just glad he is out of our house :)

That's fun that you had friends move down there with you. :)

Yes it is nice we have some friends living here now:) one of my friends from HS lives here as well but her family is moving to Louisiana at the beginning of next month :(
The hubby is in the military so off to Louisiana they go!
I'm bummed but excited for them at the same time :)

I'm SO JEALOUS! Shinedown is one of my favs. and I can only imagine what a great show FFDP and Sixx will put on!
Can't wait to hear what an awesome time you have.
I've been so busy the past couple of weeks. Mainly just at work, but the Thanksgiving holiday was pretty hectic too. In a good way though.
We didn't exactly go black Friday shopping, but we did make a big purchase on Friday. My husband and I got a new Polaris RZR. It is a side-by-side all-terrain-vehicle. We used to have a side-by-side but sold it and I have really missed going off-roading with our friends. We decided this is our early (and only) Christmas gift we are getting for each other. All though to be completely honest, I'll probably still get him something.

Yay! Glad you got it working.

Did you have the 'rijsttafel' in the Indonesian restaurant?

I don't think I would like to visit the red light district. Prostitution is something I have problems having an open mind on. The abuse is so clear. I'm not trying to be argumentative here, just saying that I'm sure I would have felt uncomfortable too.

Haha, that turned out to be a longer story than I thought. Anyway, I get the feeling ;-)

As for the prostitution Sandra. I think it's a good thing it's legalised as it does make it safer for the women and doesn't criminalize them. As far as I understand, they are all freelance which is a much better position for them than in countries where it's illegal and are often run by pimps. I knew that there would be some scantily clad women in windows but not quite to the extent it was. It was so in your face. I think it could be toned down a lot. It was mainly how other people reacted that I found disgusting. And I'm not a prude either. Basically, it makes me feel sad (and a whole heap of other emotions) that women have to do that, legal or not, in order to make money.

That's totally my point. I don't consider myself a prude either, but for me the whole idea of the "consent between adults" is diffuse here. It is not totally clear to me how honest this consent is if the women (or men, of course) are consenting because of the need of money. Women in a window? How objectifying and degrading is that? Difficult to agree that prostitution is a choice. It is not in the huge majority of the cases. No. She is not having a good time. No. She is not a sexually free person.
I read many years ago a long article in a Uruguayan magazine about prostitution in suburbs of the capital city. It really broke my heart. I have been very sensitive to this topic since then.
I agree with you, Sarah, that things are even worse when it is illegal.

Just throwing my two cents in, here prostitution is legal. They have a union, they have then have the ability to demand things from their employers such as std checks as part of their employment. They also have protection and a voice. Would I have a problem with the red light district in Amsterdam? Most probably, as I don't like things waved in my face (literally after the stripper at my niece's hens night... urgh)
Are they still victimised and ignored by authorities here? Definitely. Are there still illegal rackets and rings going on? Hell yes. But there is a safe and legal way to do it, which means more is safe and legal than not. It's the world's oldest profession, and not going away so may as well protect those who work in it. Now looking at reasons women join the profession is another issue, although with it legal takes away some of those reasons. I have known people to work in the adult industry as it was good money, and they were happy to make that choice.
I do like taking away the illegality as well means they can organise and work together. We've had a group of men who are going through the courts now in my city, preying on prostitutes. But it's come to light, that they have their own system to check on "johns" as a collective, and flag people as "ugly mugs" of those who are violent or aggressive or creepy. Which means others won't take your business. Take away stigmatisation and criminality and people look after each other.
