Do you mean Teppanyaki?

Tequila, por favor.... where's the chef with his bottle of tequila?
For the first time ever, I brought liquor home from a trip. I bought a bottle of white chocolate & coffee tequila. I also bought a bottle of a Mayan honey liquor, XTA, for my son.

Congrats to all the joyful events for all...
And welcome back for all the travelers

On a less happy note, I've had a migraine almost every evening this week, and I feel another one coming up :(

I used to get them quite frequently and at one point I just lay in the dark in bed crying because it hurt so much. I went to the doctor when that happened and I got medication which makes it less frequent and when it happens, less severe.
I don't always know what triggers them, but I think this week it was a combination of long and intens days at work and not enough fresh air, especially now with the dry air from the heaters being on everywhere.

It seems that asthma is on the increase over recent years. When I was a kid, hardly anyone had it. Now, everyone seems to have it. Mine has flared up over the last few weeks. I hardly coughed at all in Mexico, but as soon as I got on the plane, I started up and coughed all the way home.

I was really surprised about the asthma. Never had a cough or problems until this year and just assumed it was bad hayfever. I have to do peak flow measurements each day, have an inhaler and have to take antihistamines. Then I have to go see the asthma nurse in 3 weeks. I am noticing some improvements already.

Sorry I missed so many comments. Congrats to all re homes, celebrations and trips!

That's horrible, Sarah. Asthma sucks big time! I'm glad your medication is helping a bit. Hopefully it will get it under control soon.

I think you are right, Janice, about asthma being on the increase. When I was a kid, I only knew a few other people who had it besides myself. Now I know loads of people who have it and quite a lot of them have only developed it recently.

Peggy, I get terrible migraines. Mine are mostly stress related and I get them often when I don't have enough sleep. My last few months of grad school (full time while working and completing an internship and trying to keep up with family, kids, house, etc... yes I was apparently crazy.) I had them more days than not, at least 5 days every week. I got medications, but they either didn't help or gave me rebound headaches that somehow managed to be even worse. My mom suggested eating saltines (salty crackers) when I get them. I increased my salt intake slightly and haven't had one in over 3 weeks. I'm not sure if it's a coincidence or not, but 3 weeks is a decently long time for me and I've had a bit of stress and lack of sleep over the past couple of weeks. Anyway, this is my very long-winded way of saying try eating something salty (pretzels or something) and see if it helps.

My dad loved his helicopter thing I got him. He's been playing with it quite a bit and is finally getting the hang of controlling it. My 4 year old nephew just can't understand why he can't play with it though. LOL.
The road trip with my boss was nerve wracking to say the least. Not only did we have next to nothing to talk about, he is a horrible driver! I mean horrible! We hadn't been on the road for 20 minutes and I was already a nervous wreck, he was all over the road and would get right up on the car in front's bumper so close that I thought we would hit them. But the worst was when he was looking down trying to see through his bifocals to answer an incoming call and ran all the way off of the road.... at over 80mph! Thank the sweet baby Jesus that there wasn't a ditch or signs or other major hazard at that specific point of the highway. And I was quite thankful that I had to stay an extra night to finish the training I was doing so I could ride back home with a much safer driver, and someone I quite enjoy talking to.

Good that the trip is now over KimeyDiann :)

Your trip sounds nerve wracking KimeyDiann! Pleased to hear you are safe and that you were able to catch a ride back with someone else. Phew!

I hope the salt trick helps you all too. It's funny, my mom has known about my migraines for years and just recently blurted that tip out. At first, I thought it might be some old wive's remedy that wouldn't really work, but it seems to be helping me. I added a little bit of pink himalayan salt to my breakfast and I eat a handful of gluten free pretzels every day. So far, so good. I wouldn't recommend adding too much salt for other health reasons, but just a bit seems to do it.
Peggy, I bet the water, salt, lemon drink would work too.
I do drink plenty of water now, though that wasn't always the case. I wondered if not getting enough was a trigger previously, but I drink mostly water throughout the day now and try for 8 glasses each day. It doesn't seem to make much difference for me, at least as far as migraines go. I never really thought about it, but maybe the salt is helping to retain some of the water??

What a nightmare - I'm glad you survived - I expect it changes how you see your boss though.
I rode with a co-worker once said at every light changing from orange to red, "Hang on I never stop for these" !!
I have great sympathy for migraine suffers - I don't get them but I do get tension headaches where the muscles over my skull sort of clamp down on my brain-case. Odd as it sounds I like ice on my head when that happens.

I've never heard the salt trick for migraines and I thought I'd heard it all. I don't have full blown migraines all that often, but I have severe headaches a lot, especially when I'm stressed. Which has been a lot lately since my husband has accepted that out of town job.
There are several apps out for tracking your headaches/migraines to help you identify your triggers. I downloaded a couple of them, but I have never been consistent in entering the data of what I eat, how I feel, weather, etc, to get any real information from them. I think Curelator was the one I liked the best. There's also Migraine Buddy. I think both are free downloads for iphone. Some of you might want to look into these or others. If you can find your trigger, it can make life so much better.

It's bruise I wear proudly. :)
That would be a hairy ride. Thankfully you arrived safely and that you were able to find another ride home.

Swimming with dolphins sounds like a dream experience, as in fantastically good dream. Glad you had this opportunity on your Mexico trip, Janice : )
Chronic migraines can really be debilitating. Sorry for you dealing with this. Kristie, Lisa, now Peggy. Ugh.
I've had severe headaches occasionally over the years, but mostly these have been sinus headaches. Can be/have been pretty bad, too, at times. I fortunately seem to have learned to manage them mostly tolerably well over time.
These are mostly allergy/sensitivity related. Perfumes in crowded theaters/auditoriums is one trigger. Mold is another. Fortunately, people don't seem to wear nearly as much perfume and aftershave as they did in years gone by, at least where i live, thank goodness. Certain times of year are also more of a problem. Cedar fever is coming up pretty soon, ugh.
I've also learned to keep allergy and decongestant medicine with me so I can take as needed as soon as possible when i detect a problem arising. I'll be taking daily during cedar fever season.
Identifying triggers is very helpful! And recognizing earliest onset symptoms. Keep in touch with your body. What is it telling you?
Asthma is very scary. Glad you have this identified tho, Sarah. Better to know what you're dealing with. Not being able to breathe feels so life threatening. I had pneumonia hit very quickly when i was a toddler. One of my earliest memories. Not being able to breathe. Blips of memory being rushed to hospital. Being in oxygen tent and not knowing what was going on. To this day if i have any trouble breathing at night while trying to sleep, it triggers panic and adrenaline. Also my sinus headaches are often related to the air I'm breathing so that's another connection.
I have this feeling that asthma and/or breathing issues are going to recur in the future for me. Some family history here. And now I've got some stuff going on intermittently that has me wondering what's going on. I have a check up coming up in about 6 weeks so I'll maybe try to address that then with my doctor.

Your comment reminded me of one of the reasons I was terrified of Trump winning. This may be a man who came back from his business losses, but I certainly don't like thinking of a man with that attitude having that much influence on my country's finances. And I don't want to see the US run like a short term business, without seeing what's important in the long run. There are so many things that terrify me - foreign relations, the environment, social programs including health care - almost every aspect of life that he will have an impact on.

Agreed, and my therapist also believes he has Narcissistic Personality Disorder, which IMO should disqualify him. We don't need someone who is mentally ill controlling nuclear weapons. I needed to pass a psych evaluation to work for the Dept. of Defense....why doesn't the president?

Anyway, I wanted to share this petition, in case you and others might want to sign. Their goal is to have 5 million signatures by this weekend, and they're already up to almost 4.5 million. The idea is to ask the Electors to break rank in this case. The Electoral College was designed to prevent just this type of situation from happening. Wanted to share it in case anyone is interested in signing.

Argh, I'd have been clinging to the ceiling! Glad you're ok.

That was really interesting about the salt! I'm glad it's helping you, hoping it helps the others too. I hope you're enjoying your new house!

Those two could be my husband and I over a bowl of chips!

I do have pictures, but haven't had a chance to review them. I want to post a picture in our Dark Tower Series buddy read thread because I found Oye - a whole bunch of Oye's. I'd hold my fingers out to them calling, "Oye!" They'd come and sniff my fingers but when they discovered I had no food, they'd shy away.
We were sitting at a table at the burger joint on the beach. One snuck up on the table when we were distracted and stole my friend's patty right off her plate! It was hilarious.

Sarah, so nice of you to take the dog on until the owner is found. Good luck! Maybe you will have a new pet...

Sending prayers and hugs for you and your family, Lisa.
