They look like scones..."
Yes, in Uruguay we call it scones too.

Talking of biscuits, when I was little, I used to love a biscuit called Toffypops. They were my absolute favourite. However, I hadn't had one for about 15 years (I think they may even have stopped making them for a while) and then I suddenly spotted them in a supermarket last week. I decided to buy a pack just to see if they still tasted as good as I remembered. They did! They haven't changed at all. It was a real blast from the past :)

I'll put it over in our food thread...if I can find it...

Sandra - We have scones here too. Biscuits are different from scones, though similar.

Have a great time in Vienna, Sarah!

one makes sweet or what she calls savory scones which have salt and herbs.

I love these conversations too, it is so interesting to learn about all of our little similarities and differences.
Glad you are feeling better, Sarah! Enjoy your trip.
I'm doing something I very rarely do tonight. I'm having some of my friend's over to my house for food, wine, and movies! My husband's friends are at the house all of the time bc they are in the garage playing with the big boy toys (race cars), but I rarely if ever have my friends over. I'm quite looking forward to it. It really is the little things in life that are most special!

Enjoy! They say women can profit best from coming together with other women; it has to do with the oxytocin our brains release in such situations

It snowed all last weekend while we were in Jasper. But, hey, it's the mountains and you get snow earlier in the higher elevations. I came home and washed my car on Wednesday. It started snowing on Thursday. It stopped yesterday, but it's coming down with a vengeance today.
I think it's time to move into my sister's spare bedroom in Hawaii.
We had another "practice for Mexico" last night at my place. We had white wine mojitos. Let me just say that it's going to be a wild time in Mexico. I hope I don't get a phone call tomorrow from the landlord reprimanding me for the noise. Hehehehe!

Friday night was a good time. We ended up not watching movies, but played a couple games instead. Then Saturday I went to Memphis with a couple of friends for some shopping and to go to a haunted house. It was a fun time. The haunted house was pretty good, but I've been to better ones. We ran through it a little too fast for my tastes, but its all good. One of the girls with us is terrified of clowns and of course there was a couple of clowns there. She let out a blood curdling scream both times she saw them. It was hilarious!

Lol, Travis! You do have to wonder at the recommendations sometimes!

lol!

I cook steel cut oats in the slow cooker overnight quite often, Sandra. I put apples and raisins in too. It smells so amazing. It makes the whole house smell warm and cozy. If your slow cooker cooks hot enough on low or warm, it is better and does not burn. Mine cooks too hot on the normal Low setting and I have burned them in the past. I have not cooked regular oatmeal in the slow cooker, just the steel cut oats. They are made to be cooked slower and longer than the regular oats. Do not use Quick Oats.
I must be an exception to the oat texture dislike. I love oatmeal - no matter HOW it is cooked or not cooked.
I was served cooked breakfast every day last week while I was staying at my sister's house. She likes to cook breakfast and was thrilled to have someone to cook for and eat it with. We had eggs and bacon most days but she made raspberry waffles one day and fried spam and raisin bread toast with her home made blackberry jam and hash browns on Sunday morning before I left.
I started a diet today.

Good luck with you diet. :) I'm visiting my family in Uruguay at the end of the month (my grandmother turns 90) and I know how this will go...

I'll be having elaborate breakfasts soon too (although I'll probably stick to the bread), we're going to Budapest for a few days on Saturday. Anyone ever been?

Have fun in Budapest, Peggy! I've never been there.

Budapest is a place I really would love to visit. Enjoy!
