I think you sounded great, Sarah. Thanks for the link!

Flight triggers my husband's vertigo. It is not always, and is not really bad, but it happens.

Kristie, geez, you certainly have a lot of commotion going on around you with your trip. Sounds like never a dull moment! I'm glad to hear that the migraine only lasted a day though. Did you drink enough water? I know it's simple but when I feel an occular migraine coming on I make sure to drink lots of water and it really helps!
I would recommend looking into a homeopathic remedy that might help while you have the migraine: Bryonia

I've been trying to drink more water lately. It's been a struggle for me in the past, but I've been doing quite well with it lately. It is possible that I drink less when traveling though. I've tried drinking extra water once I get a migraine or feel one coming on, but it doesn't seem to help. Maybe it's just too late at that point?
Thanks for the Bryonia recommendation. I have not heard of that one before. I will certainly look into it.

I feel so much better after taking those hayfever meds from the doctors. What a relief.
Just to chime in on the migraine / flying discussion. I'm the same. I have put it down to the pressure and tiredness. It also triggers vertigo. I only get this on long haul flights though, I'm fine on a 2/3 hour flight.
I am going on a brewery tour at the Wadsworth brewery with my dad tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. I bought it as a present for him back when it was father's day. He's then going to help us go down the Caen Hill lock flight in the afternoon. Fingers crossed the weather is ok (for the afternoon) otherwise it will not be a pleasant experience. And a certain someone took the old chimney off, threw it away, and then couldn't fix the new one to the roof properly. Ahem! It's made of stainless steel and is a nightmare to drill to attach the little hat to the top and the chimney to the flue. My partner has broken countless drill bits trying to do it - no wonder I couldn't do it. But back to the reason I mentioned this, if we get wet, we get cold, we want a fire, but we can't have a fire because we have not fixed chimney, so we'll be cold. Please be sunny!!!
You made me laugh Kristie about the rainbow pictures. I'd have done the same. We had one a few months back which was the brightest rainbow I've ever seen. They are so beautiful.

Sarah, your travails remind me of an old t.v. skit "Twas on a Monday Morning", its basically about how one repair around the house leads to another. It's Monty Python humor.

Oh yeah Stainless is a bear. Just keep buying bits til you get it. All you can do. Also drill as slow as possible like with any metal. Youre still gonna vreak bits like a son of a gun though

Yes we've been doing it slowly Travis. I think we hardened the metal at first which was then a nightmare to get through. We've got one hole done. 3 more to do. We've decided to bolt it rather than use screws so now we can use a bigger drill bit which should make it easier. and hopefully less drill bits will be required.

Thank you for this. I now have 2 more authors I want to read

The brewery tour at the weekend was great fun. We got samples. We tried each beer (6 in total). So I basically had just short of 2 pints of beer in probably the space of 20 minutes. So I felt pretty merry when I left. That was my breakfast! I didn't really think it through as then I had to do the Caen Hill lock flight afterwards and I could not stop yawning. I ended up driving the boat (after I'd soaked the beer up with sandwiches) instead of doing the locks. At least it was dry for the locks! We made a little more progress with our shower too. It's definitely taking shape. I might even be able to have a shower for my birthday! Fingers crossed.

I've got a couple of "at home" projects going currently. One is thinning down possessions - giving away, selling, tossing out. Making some progress but still lots more to do. My other project is making Halloween costumes for my 4 nephews. The 19 month old triplet boys will be "the 3 little pigs" and their 8-year-old brother will be "the big bad wolf." A challenge for me given my sewing ability is generally limited to reattaching buttons and mending a hem occasionally.
Lisa, meant to tell you that your Scotland trip sounded wonderful. I went to Scotland and England years ago (1983) with my grandmother. Such a treasured memory. Would love to go again but not sure it's in the cards.
Joan, have you started your voice lessons yet? I took a few voice lessons a long time ago. Didn't turn me into Adele, but did improve my singing ability and enjoyment. Worked on singing from the diaphragm - correct posture, breathing, tonality, etc. Practiced daily vocal exercises. I was surprised and pleased with progress. Good luck and hope you have fun with this!

I've been sewing these last couple days too. We're going to a wedding tomorrow which has a theme of pirates and princesses. We're not going full on fancy dress, just added some adornments to existing clothes. I have also been cooking all afternoon as all the guests have to take food to share. I've really enjoyed making our dishes to take along.

Beetroot, butternut squash and feta quiche, mixed beans and rice, and an olive and caper tapenade.

I had a wonderful time in Scotland, TJ. I loved every single second of it. Your trip sounded lovely too and I'm glad it gave you some treasured memories. Hopefully you will be able to go back again one day.
Also, congrats on the weight loss! :)

I wonder if they are spoilerish? I only read Murder on the Orient Express and don't think the stamp gives anything away. I really like the stamps and the idea. Great way of honoring Agata Christie.

I sure hope so! My sis-in-law enlisted me ; ) Fine by me. It's fun and I'm glad to help out. I just hope i can produce some basic reasonably good costumes. Wish me luck, I need it!

I had a wonder..."
Thanks, Lisa. My real goal is lowering my blood pressure. Losing a bit of weight just happened secondarily to changes in my diet to lower sodium intake. I've been really surprised by the weight loss, but really happy my bp is improving. I really want to avoid meds if I can.
Hoping some day to make it back to Scotland - on my big trip around the world - LOL - but maybe : )

The article says, "concealed clues can be revealed using either a magnifying glass, UV light, or body heat." What fun! Would love to see what some of these clues are, at least for the books I've already read. I'm envious!

@Travis - My ex has several brothers who are teachers. My brother is a teacher. There are a lot of March/April birthdays in the family due to summer vacations.

I had an amazing time at the handfasting yesterday. I am very hungover today. Much wine, beer and mead was consumed. We have been out for dinner this evening as i couldn't face cooking. It's been a good weekend. I love the boating community. What a fab group of people.

that quiche sounds delicious - have you posted the recipe?
Tejas Janet congratulations on the successful diet change, I know home cooked is healthier but I find junk food hard to resist. you're an inspiration.
the singing is off to a, rocky start, I'm an alto so apparently I don't get to sing the melody - I supposed to harmonize, very confusing.

I'm an alto as well and have sung in choirs, trios, duets since a teen. I sing harmony all the time. My ex found it disconcerting because I'd sing the alto line to a song on the radio.
It may take a while, Joan, but you'll adjust quickly.
