Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Glad to know he is good enough to be back at home, Travis. Dementia is hard. Maybe you are right and he need a few days to get used to his space again. He has been in the hospital for a while.

message 202: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Good to hear your grandpa is back home :) hope he gets settled in :) Dementia can be so hard :( keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers.

I don't really drink beer but if I do, it's always a guiness. It's so good.

message 204: by Tasha (new)

Tasha Happy birthday, Stephanie! Glad you had a great day. :)

Aw, Travis, that's sad to hear about your gpa. It's really tough when things like that start happening. Hopefully he will settle down and feel better being home soon.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Yeah hopefully he gets ibto the groove of things after a few days. Been gone almost a month so.

Tasha He's going through so much and probably not able to really talk about it (that older generation) and so he may be taking it out in other ways.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19204 comments Glad your Grandpa is home, Travis. Hopefully he's just a bit disorientated after being away so long.

Grats on the exhibition, CFDeeDee, and Happy Birthday, Stephanie! Sorry I missed that before.

message 216: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thanks, Rusalka :-)

We went to the bookstore today but I didn't find anything I wanted to by. I'm going to check out the used book store here soon :)

message 219: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Thanks guys :D great support energy heading this way ;D

@Stephanie Don't you just hate it when you can't find the book you need? Specially if you planned it for a monthly challenge!

message 220: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Oh my goodness yes :-) there was a sale for buy 2 get one free but the original price is so high!!!

message 221: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee I hate such offers, they're actually covering the cost of the free one, their prices are actually lower out of these offers

message 222: by jaxnsmom (new)

jaxnsmom | 8341 comments Just catching up on all the posts and there's been a lot going on.
Glad you had a fun b'day Stephanie and Congrats CFDeeDee. Love all the dog and beds stories. As far as beers, I prefer a good stout. My ex used to brew beer and got pretty good at it, but the house got quite hoppy :)

In December I went to my dad's for a visit. After we picked up my brother's kids one day, we went downtown to a part of the Blackwater Trail. It’s also the location of the Lynchburg LOVEwork, where we took pictures. The L features shoe cut-outs for walking/hiking; the O has children's bicycle wheels, the V has canoe paddles attached, and the E has skateboard wheels.

I didn't make any New Year's resolutions, just hoped that this year would go more smoothly than last. So to start off I was late to work every day last week. Let's see what happens this week.

message 223: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Oh my goodness, jaxnsmom!!! We've been to that LOVEworks sign :-) it is soooo cool!!!!! It is my favorite that I've seen so far!

message 224: by CFDeeDee (new)

CFDeeDee Thanks J'smom.
Speaking of New Year Resolutions, I never git the idea of that. So I never made one ..
I wonder what would happen if it didn't work or if you just simply forgot that you actually made a resolution

Ziggy played guitar
Jamming good with weird and gilly
And the spiders from mars
He played it left hand
But made it too far
Became the special man
Then we were Ziggy's band

message 229: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments The weird thing is Bowie was Weilands idol. In fact if you look at the last 10 years Weiland was so thin giving him the prominent cheek bones amd the short hair then if you get a chance to see Weiland live on video in past decade his body language really almost seemed like Bowie was on stage.

message 230: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments I am gutted about Bowie.

message 233: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments Ziggy Stardust, space oddity and rebel rebel is it for me. But I appreciate his influence on so many bands I love through the years

I do like Space Oddity as well. Guessing you've seen the version by Chris Hadfield in the International Space Station. Just beautiful.

... I just read this has been put back up on youtube today in honour. If anyone hasn't seen it, it's pretty amazing to see inside the ISS and Earth from there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrHHs...

I liked this quote from him about just that, and Nirvana in particular. Made me laugh and laugh. Spoilered for one rude word if anyone isn't keen to see.

Sorry its a bit small, Goodreads limits me in width. The website is https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CYbblyTWY... if you can't read on a phone.

Mariab | 3059 comments Yes. Very sad.

I was invited to join, but I figured it would be too crazy at first. I have been checking on the posts, and I agree. She needs a hug and more mods. Too bad people are so crazy!

message 247: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I have no ibterest in Emma Watsons group, or any other group I have enough already. But anyway what does interest me is the crazy amount of members. Yesterday or Saturday I looked it had 59,000. Today it is up to 75000 or thereabouts. The largeat group I'd seen before was somewhere around 10,000

Me too. My sister texted me yesterday that he'd died of cancer. And relatively young. My son wore his Bowie t-shirt yesterday. A great loss to the world of music.
