Your holiday sounds idyllic! Was driving the 70 ft boat difficult? I hope you get some relief from the heat.

Tasha Have fun in Uruguay Sandra!

message 2304: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Thank you :)

We will be living on O'ahu :) we start driving to California on Saturday. We fly from there to Hawaii on the 28th :)

Now trying to deal with the apartment folks is making me cry. They are having the roof done and may make us put the POD we are getting clear across the complex even though we are supposed to have 2 parking spaces available to us. Sorry to complain especially with all that has been happening in the world but I'm really frustrated :(

message 2305: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59896 comments Where about on Oahu? I'll have to come and visit next time I visit my sister. She lives on the North Shore at Hale'iwa.

It's okay to be frustrated with what is going on in your life. the immediacy of our own lives and experiences that are just as important as the overall world events, if not more.

Stephanie We will be in Ewa Beach :) small world, Janice! You will have to let me know when you visit!!

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Have fun going home, Sandra and good luck on your move Stephanie.

You were having your boating vacation, Sarah, while I was reading Three Men in a Boat. I thought of you when I looked at the pictures of the locks. I am glad you had a good time.

It probably won't be until next year. I was thinking about going in November, but I've booked a trip to Mexico.

message 2309: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I'm back from my holiday. We had a great time! Germany is a great country. It's so close so I've been there before for a day or a weekend, but never for two weeks and never in the south.

Came right back into a heat wave. It was 35 degrees yesterday!! And 35 degrees around here is a bit too much because of the high humidity. It's been above 25 and several days above 30 since last Sunday, but I'm not complaining, just taking it easy. Happy summer has finally arrived, because it was really bad so far. My veggie garden is not doing very well because of all the rain and the cold we had..

Hope you're all doing good!

Tasha Welcome back, Peggy! I find it so fascinating that countries are so close to you! Living in the states, everything seems to far away to me.

message 2314: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Welcome back Peggy and Sarah. Make sure you guys are drinking lots of water in the heat.

Good luck with the move Stephanie. Sounds like a fabulous adventure!

I've been all over the place this week. I've been flat out at work, but also sick so now even further behind, and as well as having unexpected funerals and such. So when I've come home all I've done is flopped. Hopefully back to chatty self soon.

message 2315: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Sounds great Peggy!

@Janice - I missed your question before. Driving the 70ft is slightly more difficult than my 58ft. It's heavier for obe so it takes more to get going and to stop. The extra length wasn't so much of a problem although it did take a little getting used to. The boat didn't handle all that well though, not because of the length, just the boat itself. All boats are different. This one didn't like turning left all that much for some reason.

message 2316: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments LOL Tasha, I always find it fascinating that you can drive for hours and hours and still be in the same country. Or that for my Canadian friend it takes longer to fly to the other side of the country than to Europe!

I live in a narrow bit of the country, and it is a 15 minute drive to get to Germany and a 20 minute drive to Belgium :)

message 2317: by Tasha (new)

Tasha That's just so cool, Peggy. :)

message 2318: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18550 comments Thanks Rusalka. Hope you feel better soon and things settle down. I have been pretty good with fluids this week except the last couple of days when i've been working. Now i'm on it again :-)

Lynda | 836 comments I hope everyone here is doing well. I'm sorry I've been away for so long, it looks like I've missed some fun challenges. :-( I wish I could say I was out doing something fun and exciting, but really, just day to day has gotten busy. I'm trying to read as much as I can, only about half an hour a night. So happy to have audio books though, since I get at least 40 minutes a day with those consistently. Just focusing on getting my yearly challenge books read. Don't think I'm going to reach my 90 book goal this year...oh, well, no worries.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Stephanie, Hawaii sounds amazing! I hope you have a safe trip to Cali and i look forward to hearing about your adventures with the trip and your new home.

Glad to hear your boating trip was a success, Sarah. And Peggy, that you enjoyed your Germany trip. Rusalka, i hope you get to feeling better soon!

I had an event at work today that was pretty fun. They call it the "Leadership Academy" and it's for the younger generation in the company (the millennials... oh how i hate that term... and a couple gen x'ers) since we are the future of the company. This was the first time I've gotten to meet some of the people from our other divisions so that was nice. Today's event was an indoor electric go cart race track. It was a lot fun and i actually came in third place... third from last that is! Lol. The meeting part of the day was no where near as much fun as the race, but they appear to be listening to the ideas we have and are willing to let us (and help us) try to implement some of them.

Sarah | 18550 comments I just bought flights to Vienna for a long weekend away in October. We'll be staying with friends. Looking forward to it already. It's instead of birthday presents - it's both mine and my partner's birthday that month. His is a significant one. I've been saying we should go to Thailand for his 40th for ages and then i realised it was this year. Can't afford Thailand unfortunately so Austria it is!

Oh my Vienna is a city on my bucket list. I have always wanted to see it. I saw a travel show years ago and have wanted to go,

I have been moving real slow with this heat wave here. I just don't seem to want to do anything but drink ice tea and watch TV,
I am getting caught up on several favorite shows,

The only problem is I have run out of tea and it is still very hot

Lynda enjoy Vegas. I am also not a gambler but love that place. I am love the piano bars and shows, My favorite thing there is people watching. One of my favorite visits was when the national rodeo was there. There was some really really good people watching that time. LOL

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Sounds like great places, Lynda and Janice. I would love to see the Grand Canyon etc., and I want to go to Mexico too! Been to Vienna a couple of years ago :)

We are hardly back from our holiday but already thinking about the next, which will also be in early November (or the last week of October). We're probably going to Sicily or Sardinia for a week.

message 2339: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I hope you enjoy Vegas, Lynda! I have been there twice and loved it. I'm not a gambler either but there are plenty of other things to see and do. The hotels are amazing! Although I didn't stay in it, the Venetian is my favourite. I love how they have replicated Venice.

message 2340: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie We made it to California! Now a few days to rest before our flight to our new home :) Blake did pretty good in the car. We had to stop of course so he could potty and drink water. He started getting pretty restless yesterday, otherwise he just laid down in the backseat and slept most of the trip. Texas was hot hot hot!! Same with Arizona! We had to stop and get a photo with Blake and a cactus :)

@Janice, I've never been in Mexico, but only seeing the pictures of the mayan ruins makes me go there. I hope you enjoy it.

@TJ, I really miss camping. Maybe we should plan something with the kids. I don't know... Only thinking in camping with so many kids makes me tired... :)

@Steph, Blakes looks as handsome as always. :) I hope everything goes well with this last part of the move.

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Lynda, if you're in Vegas, head to the Cirque de Soleil shows. I hated Vegas but loved Ka and O that we saw there. Hands down the only reason to go to Vegas, and well worth the trip. There were another 5 shows we couldn't fit in.

Sorry to hear you're all so hot. It's cold and rainy here.

Austria and Vienna sounds amazing Sarah. Very jealous.

Gorgeous photo Steph. Blake looks so happy. Hope the next part of the move goes well for everyone!

I'm not going overseas this Nov, but we do have 12 days booked down the coast for our Niece's wedding, brother in law's 50th, mother in law's 70th, my 33rd). First real long trip away with this part of Lexx's family (2 sisters, 1 brother, mum, 2 aunts, stepfather, all related family) . Two coast houses on the beach booked with 18 of us. Will be interesting, but hopefully a lot of fun.
