Joan I just watched "Apollo 13", good movie.

I know I am about 20 years late but I don't usually enjoy watching t.v. or movies.

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments It was a good movie. I enjoy both Tom Hanks and Gary Sinise.

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I need a weekend to recover from my weekend too! Or maybe just a couple hours extra sleep this morning to make up for my tossing and turning all night last night. But that isn't in my cards for today, I must go to work. Dang it. LOL.

The concert Friday night was AWESOME! Pop Evil wasn't there for reasons I do now know, but Saint Asonia played in their place. They were really good. After they finished, Rob Zombie took the stage and put on a freaking amazing show. I wasn't sure what to expect from him, but it was great. My husband said it was probably the best concert he has ever seen and it definitely makes it into my top 5 favorites. Disturbed took the stage last, and even though their performance wasn't as interesting to watch as Rob Zombie's, they were awesome too. I loved that I knew every single song they performed. It was SO much fun!

Saturday we went to the Georgia Aquarium, which is, if not the largest, one of the largest in the country. We had a really great time there too. The Beluga Whales and Whale Sharks were amazing, I've never seen any "fish" that big in my life. They also had Manta/Sting Rays that were probably 15-20 feet wide. We watched the Dolphin show which was fun and a Sea Lion show that was even better. We got home around 7:00 that night and after playing with the dogs for a few minutes, had to make an appearance at a friend's birthday party.

We spent Sunday with my parents and niece in my dad's new boat. He has to put so many hours on the motor to break it in before he can use it at full speed, so we rode up the Tenn-Tom Waterway just get some time in. We stopped a few times for a little fishing, but didn't catch anything. We had a good time though. He still has to put a couple more hours on it before we can put the inner tube or skis behind it.

All in all, a great weekend, now if I could only get a break before dealing with Monday and work. LOL.

Sarah | 18550 comments Sounds great KimeyDiann. I'd love to see Rob Zombie.

I'm with you all in saying a weekend/holiday is needed to recover from weekend/holiday. I've had a few of those over the years.

We just ordered our new toilet so we're a step closer to having our nice new bathroom. I'm looking forward to the shower coming and being fitted the most.

We've had gorgeous weather this weekend. Very summer like. I don't want it to end but knowing England we will be back to coat wearing weather in no time.

If my Outlook 2010 Cloud Backup works tomorrow, I can submit my request for a new laptop. My car is still in the shop but my 1992 truck lives on with a new battery. @Kristie, I have until 7/4/16 to finish but I should be able to get it done sometime in June :)

message 1824: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments It will feel good to have it done, Stephanie.

I'm doing a quilt retreat this weekend. It started yesterday, but I need to finish up some year ends so only sewed for a few hours in the evening. I'll go out for supper again tonight, and then all day Saturday and Sunday.

I didn't want to go because I was still feeling overwhelmed. But my friends wouldn't let me. They dragged me kicking and screaming. But once I got there, I was laughing and humming. They commented about me being the "hummer girl". The humming is an indication that I'm feeling good with the world. If I stop humming, you'd better worry. I am finishing a quilt I started back in 2007! I sewed the binding onto the back of the quilt last night. Tonight, I will fold the binding over and tack it down. Done - only took 9 years. LOL!

message 1828: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19147 comments That's so nice! You needed that break, Janice. I've only made a baby sized quilt and that was with a friend's help. I don't know if I'd ever finish a full sized one, so good for you getting it done.

I have no real plans for this weekend, so it's going to be a bit quiet. Well, Sunday I'm going to aerial yoga, which is interesting, but really it's just an exercise class so not too exciting. :) The next couple of weekends we will be pretty busy though.

Casceil | 2728 comments What is "aerial yoga"?

message 1830: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19147 comments They have these long strips of fabric that hang from the ceiling and you do different poses while hanging in them. It's really different.
I've only done it one other time.

I will. Last time I was a bit nauseous from being upside down, but I bought a two class card, so this is my second class. I plan to eat something with carbs before I go in this time. Hopefully that will help.

message 1837: by Casceil (new)

Casceil | 2728 comments The aerial yoga looks really interesting. If I were younger I'd be tempted to try it.

Roz | 4530 comments I'm with you, Casceil. I'd be the one that gets all tangled up.

message 1839: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19147 comments haha I think I might be beyond my personal age limit for the activity too (hence the nausea). I used to be able to be upside down without issue, but it's definitely gotten more difficult lately. I'll give it one more try this weekend and see how it goes. I like to do a lot of really physically active activities, but this might not be the one for me.

message 1840: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments Aerial yoga looks interesting. I don't think my body would wrap itself around those strings very easily - maybe the very first move.

I'm having fun with puns today. Someone said, "The problem with quilt retreats, is that there's never an iron when you need one." I replied, "That's the irony of quilt retreats."

Oh come on! Stop groaning.

Sarah | 18550 comments I'm pleased you are enjoying your quilt retreat Janice.

Aerial yoga sounds intriguing. I do normal yoga. Off to check it out.

I've been away on a course for work for the last few days ago hich is why I've been missing. The course was on hypnotic phenomenon and self hypnosis. It was down in Bournemouth by the sea. I stayed with a friend. It was nice to catch up with her and the course was amazing. We did some pretty impressive things, one of which was inducing anaesthesia and analgesia in an arm and then having a needle put through it. I had it done to me. I found lt the needle go through my arm but there was no pain. There was a noticeable difference in colour and temperature in that arm. I was blown away. I have a picture which I'll post when i can.

Joan Elementary school teachers I salute you!
I led a tour at the Guide Dog Foundation for 6 yr-olds today - my head is still spinning. Their minds jump around like ping pong balls but they ask great questions such as:
How does a guide dog know when to cross the street?
Do caterpillars have sharp teeth?
How does a guide dog know to stay away from roses?
Why does electricity give you a shock?
and this was just in about 20 minutes,
