Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments Lol, that's happened to me before, Peggy. I guess you will be eating appelflappen and soup for a while! ;)

message 1352: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59894 comments That sounds like apple turnovers to me Peggy. Sounds good. It's better to have more than less that what you expect.

Yum! Appelflappen sounds so much more fun than apple turnovers though, even if they are exactly the same thing. :)

Sarah | 18550 comments The course sounds fun Janice. I'd like to do something like that. Perhaps they'll run another journal writing course in the future you can both go on?!

Happy birthday Peggy. Your food optiins sound good. What kind of soup did you make?

We did some very dusty work on the boat yesterday. Now everything has a very fine layer of dust on it despite hanging partitions to stop the dust spreading throughout the boat. We went to see Stereo MCs last night in Bristol then stayed at a hotel so we didn't have to put up with the dust. We'll do some painting tomorrow then stay at my sister in laws so we don't have to put up with the fumes.

I hope everyone is having a nice easter weekend.

I think I've found a bit of a solution. I'm going to email her today and encourage her to write journal entries as flash fiction.

The other night I dreamt of my mother and that I had a conversation with her. My flash fiction story yesterday told of that dream. My friend could try that approach, if she's willing. She'd certainly end up with a creative journal.

I'm going to buy her the book, Life's Companion: Journal Writing as a Spiritual Practice as a bit of a peace offering, not that she's upset with me. I still feel bad, though. I don't feel like I unduly influenced her. I just want everyone to be happy, happy!

Lynda | 836 comments Hi everyone! Happy Easter to those who are celebrating. We're meeting family for brunch in a little bit, but wanted to check back in here.

I've missed the group.

I've been struggling pretty bad with headaches/migraines, which is a complication of some auto-immune stuff I have going on in my system. On top of that I got hit with the bad cold. I've been avoiding screens, for the most part, so haven't been reading or hanging out on the internet much. I'm feeling good today though. Just downloaded a new book, and am dipping my toes back in. My mantra for my life right now is just to keep things simple!

Looking forward to check in on all the activities going on around here.

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments Such a busy weekend! Friends came over for my birthday on Friday evening, yesterday was my mother-in-law's birthday, and this afternoon my family came over for my birthday and they just left (8.30 pm). 15 people. That was busy! But they ate all my 7 litres of soup and on Friday 21 of 34 appelflappen were eaten. I'm so glad tomorrow is still off and we have a day to ourselves.

message 1377: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments And daylight savings started, yay! And weather forecast for next Sunday (yes, I know that's incredibly inaccurate probably) is 20+ degrees! Yay!

message 1378: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds like you had a very busy but fun weekend, Peggy. Enjoy a restful day off tomorrow. :)

message 1379: by [deleted user] (new)

I am baking a turkey breast that I bought on sale during Christmas, partially to free up some room in the freezer but also to cook it before the weather get warmer. Plus, it is Easter.

Somehow it always feels odd (and uncomfortable) to have the oven on for hours on end during a warm day.

message 1380: by Rusalka, Moderator (new)

Rusalka (rusalkii) | 19206 comments Lisa Ann, you've just described Australian Christmas :P

Rusalka wrote: "Lisa Ann, you've just described Australian Christmas :P"

:) Every once in a while it is that way where I live during Christmas, even though it is technically winter. Weather along the coast is unpredictable and may be cold/rainy or have an offshore wind with unseasonably warm temps. One never knows what to expect, but a warmish Christmas doesn't feel very Christmassy, lol.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I have had dogs my whole life. Probavly the most loyal dog of them all was my old black lab. Even he though, does not compare to what I witnessed on the news of a soldier and his service dog reunited after several months of rehab in different countries after both were injured in combat. There is a bond made in life and death situations where they both have to have complete trust in each other to survive that I just don't think we can replicate in civilian life. It was an incredible reunion and the reaction of the dog was oriceless

Tejas Janet (tejasjanet) | 3513 comments I agree 100% p!us. I'm sorry for what they've been thru, the humans. Not sure it was worth the hardship and sacrifice. Personally, i think it's twisted to use other species to fight our human battles.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I encourage people to look at the libertarian ticket of Gary Johnson. Has some good ideas. Feels the conflict in world needs to be haulting currency funding terror grouos and less boots on ground. Among other ideas

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I like to check in to make sure you all know I'm alive.

So does anyone else do the quiz at Isidewith.com to see which oresidential candidate you agree with most. I just did and it backed up everything I've been saying about myself. And luckily also said I side most with Gary Johnson and least with Trump. Actually all the republicans I side with the least. Which I have been saying for years I am a liberal reoublican meaning my views are mostly liberal exceot on the econony where I am conaervative. The quiz just told me all this was true. Amazing. Give it a try if you haven't fellow Americans.

Joan sounds interesting TRAVIS, I am going to try it. I just learned that Hilary Clinton was an early follower of Goldwater...now he was the epitome of old-school conservative.

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I was kind of excited to find a semi local news that came on air at 3 am for me to watch for breakfast in mornings. The only thing is me thinking yeah I see why these two anchors get the 3am shift. Not really primetime personalities. Oh well the 50 viewers up this early orobably shouldn't be that picky

message 1395: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments Happy belated birthday, Peggy. It sounds like you had a great weekend!

@Lynda, I hope you are continuing to feel better and better.

Thanks for the website, Travis. I really don't know who to vote for since I don't really like any of the options we have, maybe that tool will help me decide.

I bought a posture training device from one of the daily deal sights I frequent. You clip it to your shirt or bra strap and calibrate it for what your ideal posture is. Then when you deviate from that during the day, it vibrates to remind you to straighten back up. I've noticed that my posture is getting worse and worse and I'm sure it is because I spend so much time sitting at a desk in front of a computer or in a car. I'm hoping this little thing will help me be more aware of my slouching. Today is the first day of use and so far it seems to be helping. I can definitely tell I slouch more when typing because it keeps buzzing me. LOL.

My art gallery was last weekend, and the book fare was the day before .. And I got busy with my art work ..

I need a book in my hands soon !

message 1397: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Grr!!! Our super nice neighbor's just got fined..someone complained to management saying that they were seen not picking up dog poo after their dog. I think that person lied because they ALWAYS pick up after their dog and at times other people's dog.
I phoned management on their behalf to tell them that and they asked me to write a formal email, which I did. I let them know that their is someone not picking up after their dogs but unfortunately I don't see who (sorry, not gonna set up camp at the window to watch ;) ).

message 1398: by Joan (new)

Joan Stephanie that is frustrating. In my neighborhood 90% of dog walkers pick up after their dogs and 2 do not, but it makes a us all look bad.

message 1399: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie It does :(
Hopefully their fine will be reversed. The guy was so upset it made me sad for him. Him and his wife are so nice. They are an older couple and the husband picks up poo even if it is not from their dog. I knew I had to stick up for them. I just hope the management realizes they were falsely accused.

message 1400: by Travis (new)

Travis (travistousant) | 6011 comments I just downloaded the headsmart app on my phone. There is a 10 day program tat is free for 10 minute a day guided meditation that is spiritually and reliously free. So anyone can use it. Just did my first 10 minutes. I am now very aware of about 3 tight areas and aches I didn't notice before. I hope the 10 days will help address what to do to relax these things since it made me aware of them
