Now I have to get online and order tickets to the "I Love the '90's" concert that is next month locally. Salt 'n Peppa, Tone Loc, Vanilla Ice, Coolio, and Color Me Badd. (And Kid N Play, but I don't know who that is).
In case you can't tell, I have very eclectic tastes in music. :)
Thanks everyone. :) I am gradually starting to feel a bit of improvement and am actually going to leave the house today.
Janice, you crack me up!! I hope you are feeling much better now.

As to my Audible wish list - it's still lost in cyberspace.

We'll need to start using a shut mouth here ate YLTO.

I don't feel overly sick - just have a headache and feel a bit achy. Weird.

Kid n play were in the movie house party. You would recognize them if you saw it I'm sure

It's been so so long since I checked Goodreads and my books!
Life got in between for good this time. Couldn't even spare some time for the book challenge of last month!
But I hope it's all good now. I'm done with preparing for the art gallery I'm having next week .. Pretty excited about it.
And 80% done with my other project.
So all I have to do now is grabbing my old book and finish reading it.
Miss you all ..

KimeyDiann, I love Disturbed, I hope you enjoy them live, I saw them in 2008 in Birmingham, UK. They are only doing Download Festival here this year and can't afford those prices =[ When is it?

It's so stressful nowadays to get tickets for festivals or concerts of popular bands. I'm not sure if you have the same problem, but here the black market is a big issue. Even though the restriction is set to 4 or 6 tickets max per person, companies and often individuals manage to buy loads of tickets for events that will likely sell out in minutes or hours, which are then put on second-hand websites for almost double the price. I think there's going to be a new law in effect soon which prohibits reselling tickets for more than 120% of the price. I also hate that 4-ticket rule (I understand why it is enforced though), because if you plan to go somewhere with more than 4 people chances are that half of your group finds one and the other half can't go. Or even worse, when you're with 5 people and 4 get tickets and 1 doesn't (or the other way around).

I have one 75-year-old husband, not getting any younger, one 14 year, 4 month old, large dog. And 5 cats, all getting up there in years.
Plus, there's the 14-month-old triplet nephews!!!
I work my ass off just taking care of the husband, the dog, the cats, the house, the yard. I'm so tired!
I don't even have a paying job. But all I do is work, and when I can, I read.
I'd love to go rock at some good concert, but never get to.

That's great, Sarah!

And I'm well aware this is a rather trivial stress. First world problems and all that. I'm treading carefully at the moment as really bad things seem to be happening to friends and family around me at the moment. Deaths, disease, disputes, mental health problems. I'm just gonna hide away on my boat and hope this string of bad luck doesn't come my way.
Focusing on the good things I have going on is what's keeping me sane. Even if I don't get to go to the gig until December!
Another positive for my day is that Amazon have agreed to give me a refund on a pair of boots I bought back in October which have got holes in now. I loved those boots. They were fantastic for walking along the towpath and keeping my feet warm and dry. But they developed holes in the same place on both boots up around the ankles. I got wet feet this week :-( I emailed them not expecting any joy but they've agreed to refund (as they don't have any more of them in stock). Now the hunt is on for new boots.

I remember 10-15 years ago when I went to festivals for the first time, we were able to just await line-ups of 3 or 4 different festivals and then in April or May decide which one to go to and buy tickets. Now you have to decide the minute tickets go on sale, and for some festivals (almost) none of the bands have even been announced!

A while ago a Dutch club played a soccer game in Rome, and during riots the Dutch supporters destroyed a 400-year old Bernini fountain in the city centre, while throwing beer bottles at the police. Thankfully a lot of people here felt ashamed and like they had to do something, so a fund was set up for Dutch people to make a donation which was sent to Rome to (partly) cover for the costs of repairing the fountain.
Just now I read on the news that before a soccer game in Madrid a few days ago, Dutch supporters who were having a beer at the Plaza Mayor humiliated women who were there begging. They pretended to give the women money but than threw the coins away so the women had to run after them, they burned money in front of them, and made them do push-ups in exchange for money, all while they were standing in a circle around these women making fun of them. I just don't get it. How can people act like that? What is wrong with them? I really feel ashamed for the way these people behaved.

I understand the sentiment, Tejas Janet. My issue isn't so much time but physicality. My knees and hips don't allow for too much walking. I bought tickets to a 3 day folk festival this summer and I'm wondering how I'm going to manage it. But, I'm going even if I have to get my mother's walker next time I go to visit my dad. It will ease getting to and from the car, and I'll have a guaranteed seat.

Agreed! With all the stuff going on in the US, we have more than our fair share of trouble makers and people behaving badly.
I thought it was nice that at least some of the Dutch people set up a fund to help repair the damage but am wondering if any of the offenders helped contribute to the fund? What is it with the mixture of sports and alcohol? Somehow it seems to bring out that worst in people sometimes.

@Other Sarah (lol), Disturbed concert is the first weekend in May. I've never seen them live before so I'm really looking forward to it. Pop Evil too. I think I may have seen them at a festival a few years ago, but I don't particularly remember. We went to this same festival every year for several years, and I can't remember who all played at it anymore. I'm quite honestly a little intimidated about seeing Rob Zombie live. I might be a little bit scared of him 8-| I mean, have you seen his movies! LOL.
@TJ, the husband and I (both in early 30's) don't have any human kids but we have 4 fur babies. We either find babysitters for them or, as much as I hate to do it, board them. I already feel like so much of my life is wasted sitting at a desk, when the opportunity arises to get out and experience something new or fun, I'm going to take it.

Absolutely, it's people everywhere, it doesn't matter where you are from.

miss you all. have WiFi for 5 mins (island WiFi is worse than Aus. Who would have known somewhere had worse internet than us!) On St Maarten for another day. loved the French side. on the dutch side now and much more touristy and kitch and full of dodgy casinos.
the waiter just asked us to finish up so he can go home before dinner service (??) but will check in soon.

We stayed on the Dutch side, at Oyster Bay. I wonder if the fact that the cruise liners pulling in on that side add to the kitsch and touristy feel. Our resort was right on the border between the Dutch and French side so we weren't all that affected by it.
I agree about the casinos! The "cocktail waitresses" wandered around offering grilled cheese sandwiches and the drinks were watered down.

@Janice/Sarah/TJ
Last time I bought a concert ticket (Scorpios, last tour, 3 years ago), they could not perform because the weather conditions (hurricane). I was a long time in line to get in -in the middle of the storm...- waited almost 3 hours to hear the concert would be cancelled. I was very angry. I had broken my back -literally - to attend (I have very bad issues with my back), and after that I was ill 1 month long .
I didnt go to big rock or pop concerts anymore, since then
@Sandra
You are very right...
@ Peggy
I think it is the rush they get from having power (regardless how brief) over other people... It make them forget how small and powerless they ordinarily are

There's no thread for recipes, is there? It's my birthday next week and I have 15 people coming over on Sunday afternoon. I want to give them something simple to eat but I'm not sure what. I'm thinking soup (because I can easily prepare that the day before) but something has to go with it. Something easy and quick to make, not too messy to eat, preferably something I can largely prepare a day before. Bruschetta maybe? Or some other nice bread or sandwiches? Suggestions are very welcome!

Elton John puts on a great show and his piano playing is insane!

I saw him in Edmonton a number of years back when he did his unplugged tour. It was just him and his piano. He was amazing.
